Category not appearing in URL

    The categories I assign to my pages are not appearing in the permalinks.

    I believe I have all of the relevant settings checked.

    Please let me know if you require any further information/

    below is an example of one of the pages included in this category but the category is not in the permalink:
    https://cheapukprotein.co.uk/myprotein-discount-codes/

    Hi Patrick,
    Seems to be when UNIQUE PAGE CATEGORIES is disabled it works.
    I will investigate this.

    When i force to use the category in the page URL, it works.
    https://cheapukprotein.co.uk/discount-codes/myprotein-discount-codes/

    Hi Patrick,

    If you set the permalink structure to: /%category%/%postname%/ and using no UNIQUE categories, it would work!.

    When using UNIQUE page categories the name of this function is: CATEGORIES. (custom name)
    When using NO UNIQUE page categories the name of this function is: CATEGORY.

    Wordpress can show us the correct URL (included the category name), BUT cannot find the URL, because the PERMALINK is: /%category%/%postname%/ and not /%categories%/%postname%/.
    Therefore is this functionality disabled …

    In other words, at this moment it’s not possible to add this feature unless WP extend the possibility to use /%categories%/%postname%/ as extra permalink, which is now impossible.

    If somebody else know some work-around ?? to solve temporary this issue … just let me know …

    is it possible to share the “category” field between both posts & pages so the “categories” field is not needed?

    Hello Patrick,

    No this is not possible.
    This because we have to use a different PERMALINK (categories/category), to know which is for pages or post.

    Hello Patrick,

    It’s possible … if you use not unique categories (see settings page) and disable: Unique page categories/tags .
    From that moment on you can use the same categories for pages as it is for post.
