Hi Jairo,
I’ve just updated to 5.8 too and got an error message. The plugin is now deactivate in and I cannot switch it back on. The site seems ok, but yoast is permanently deactivated, and it tells me that the install was “incomplete”. What now? Is there a fix planned for soon? Is there a way to re-install the previous version? Are all the settings lost? And how does this impact the website SEO with the plugin being off?
Thanks,
Nathalie- This reply was modified 7 years ago by nathk.
I had the same problem and I did a downgrade.
First deactivate YOAST in wordpress. Then you just have to download the ZIP File of Version 5.7.1 from here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/releases.
Go to your webserver via FTP and delete or rename the folder
/wp-content/plugins/wordpress-seonow you can unzip the local ZIP File of Version 5.7.1 and upload the folder wordpress-seo in the same FTP directory.
activate the plugin yoast again and you are done ??

Were/are you running the Remove Yoast SEO Comments plugin?
Hello,
As mentioned by @coldcutt, we’ve found a conflict with the “Remove Yoast SEO Comments” plugin. Please, deactivate this plugin temporarily while a fix is created.
We’ve created an issue on Github here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/8269
We also suggest reporting this issue to the developer of the “Remove Yoast SEO Comments” plugin.
5.8 Crashed my site too and I do not use “Remove Yoast SEO Comments plugin”
Hi,
Yoast SEO 5.8 works fine is Remove Yoast SEO Comments 3.0.2 is OFF.
Now Yoast SEO is ON again.
I’l wait for an update of Remove Yoast SEO Comments. Thanks @coldcutt for the suggestion.
Hi,
I use Elementor (free and pro) and since version 5.8 I can not load my pages anymore.
No modification is possible.
As soon as I come back in Yoast 5.7.1 then everything works again. There is a problem in 5.8
Could you tell me when you think you can look at this problem?
Excuse my english I’m french
Tnaks a lot, RichardThat sounds like a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:
1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
2. Check for conflicts.
3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.
If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.
If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further. The reason is the plugin Remove Yoast SEO Comments 3.0.2
It occurs on all the sites which both plugins are activated. Meanwhile I had to deactivated Remove Yoast SEO Comments.

Hi,
Just for information,
the problem comes from Yoast because everything works without Yoast and with Yoast the elementor plugin does not work anymore.
If you make a correcion, please say me
Best regard
RicharddefranceHi All,
We’ve responded to the different concerns below. Note, that even if your site crashed, your Yoast SEO data and settings are still expected to appear and wor. We say that as Yoast stores that data in the WordPress database. So unless the crash also somehow affected your database you can expect the data to appear and work.
A. Using the Remove Yoast SEO Comments plugin?
If you have that plugin, then that is the cause of the issues you are experiencing. Though, as reported by our developers we are not able to fix the issue on our end.To resolve the issue we suggest commenting on the author’s thread here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/plugin-conflict-with-yoast-5-8/ for more information on how to resolve it. We also suggest deactivating that plugin in the meantime.
B. NOT using the Remove Yoast SEO Comments plugin?
If you DO NOT have that plugin, we ask that you create a new post on our forums. We would then be happy to assist you. We say this as it would help us manage different issues different users are experiencing by responding to them personally in their own post.C. @richarddefrance Elementor Plugin Issue
As this post was made here we will respond to it. Though, in the future we ask that you please make a new post if you are experiencing issues with specific plugins. This will help us to manage and respond faster and with more precision.Though, we are not able to reproduce the issue you are experiencing. We tested Elementor on our local site and the page loaded on the backend: https://pasteboard.co/GU5zfhz.png and on the front end with the editor when we clicked on it: https://pasteboard.co/GU5zIYW.png.
In this manner, if you are experiencing an issue with it we would like some more information.
1. Does the issue happen when Yoast SEO and Elementor are the only plugins active AND your theme is 2016? You can check for conflicts using this guide: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts?
2. Check for JavaScript errors with your console with this guide: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-find-javascript-errors-with-your-browsers-console
If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/ for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.
Note, that if you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium here: https://yoast.com/wordpress/plugins/seo/ and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.
