Hello everyone, this is my first time using WordPress, and I am building a portfolio using the Sketch theme.
I’d like to add social media buttons to the footer, but the theme doesn′t allow me to do that directly, so I want to know if there is another way to do that, ?can I do that with additional html or css?
I really appreciate your help…thank you

Hi @adrianamg! The social menu in the Sketch footer – which you can see on the demo here: https://sketchdemo.wordpress.com/ – is a feature that comes with the Jetpack plugin. Once you activate it, you’ll see a new menu available in the Customizer > Menus area.

If you add custom links to each of your social-media profiles, and then assign the menu to the theme’s Social Links menu area, the icons should appear automatically.

    Letme know how it goes!

Hi Kathryn, thank you for your answer, I can see the ‘social menu’ available now in the footer, thank you!
Now I have another issue I′m dealing with, and it′s that I can′t see a ‘category’ box for the projects in the portfolio page, it only shows when I create a blog entry.
I was expecting to assign a category to each project, ?do you know if it is possible to do that with this theme (and how)?

Categories are only for blog posts – for portfolio projects, you can organize by using Project Types (similar to blog categories) and Tags (similar to blog tags).

Here’s a page with some portfolio info you might find helpful:
