    Hi Everyone,

Apologies, I am still a bit new to WordPress, and coding – learning as I go.

I host a multisite install that we have been using in the classroom for different courses for annotation. The lastest release of CommentPress has been causing our site to crash, due to a fatal error. I have rolled our site back and have not updated the plugin yet, as every time I do, I get the same error.

The error is below. Any help would be very much appreciated. Again, please excuse my ignorance!

    Error:

    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function bp_activity_set_post_type_tracking_args() in /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/wp-content/plugins/commentpress-core/commentpress-multisite/class_commentpress_mu_bp.php:340 Stack trace: #0 /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(298): Commentpress_Multisite_Buddypress->register_comment_tracking_on_pages(”) #1 /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(323): WP_Hook->apply_filters(NULL, Array) #2 /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/wp-includes/plugin.php(453): WP_Hook->do_action(Array) #3 /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/wp-settings.php(448): do_action(‘init’) #4 /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/wp-config.php(104): require_once(‘/home/rrabie/hu…’) #5 /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/wp-load.php(37): require_once(‘/home/rrabie/hu…’) #6 /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/wp-blog-header.php(13): require_once(‘/home/rrabie/hu…’) #7 /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/index.php(17): require(‘/home/rrabie/hu…’) #8 {main} thrown in /home/rrabie/huronresearch.ca/wp-content/plugins/commentpress-core/commentpress-multisite/class_commentpress_mu_bp.php on line 340

    Thanks!

Hi @ryanhuc – can you give me more details about how to reproduce the error…

    • Which versions of BuddyPress and CommentPress are okay and which ones throw the error?
    • Does this error occur on all sites in your multisite or just the main BuddyPress site?
    • Do you have BuddyPress and CommentPress “network enabled” or enabled on just one site?
    • Which BuddyPress components are active?

The more clues you can give me the better chance we stand of getting this fixed.

    Cheers, Christian

    Hi Christian,

I am on WordPress 4.9, current version of CommentPress is 3.9.3 and updating to 3.9.6.

For BuddyPress I have 2.8.2 installed and an update pending to 2.9.2.

The error crashes my whole network, so WordPress is just unavailable and I have to do a restore. I’ve tried manually disabling the plugin, but I still end up with an error, which results in a full site restore.

For BuddyPress, we use bbPress, and bbP private groups.

    Thanks for any help!

@ryanhuc Thanks for the info. Could you answer the two other questions as they are vital:

    • Do you have BuddyPress and CommentPress “network enabled” or enabled on just one site?
    • Which BuddyPress components are active?

    Cheers, Christian

Ah sorry, yes BuddyPress and CommentPress are network enabled.

For BuddyPress I have the following active:

    • Extended Profiles
    • Account Settings
    • Notifications
    • BuddyPress Core
    • Community Member

Hi Ryan, 3.9.7 should fix the error. Mark as resolved if it does.
