I’ve followed the setup guide, but die at the start.

“Make sure that “Main portfolio page” is set to Portfolio (or Easy Photography Portfolio)”

I only see ‘Sample Page’ there. I have a fresh install, added the plugin as downloaded from this site… but I can’t find a way to get ‘Portfolio’ in that selection.

Under Portfolio – All Entries, I see a portfolio I created:
    It links to here:
    https://cralis-001-site2.ftempurl.com/portfolio/sunsetsunrise/

So I do seem to have one, but I just can’t select it anywhere else in WordPress.

I notice that under ‘Settings->Reading” I can’t select the portfolio there as a startup page.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi Craig,
If you don’t see a “Portfolio” page anywhere – you can just create it on your own. Create the page and set it as Portfolio page in Easy Photography Portfolio settings!

Sorry Norris. I’m not understanding. I created a ‘Portfolio Entry’. That is visible here:

    https://cralis-001-site2.ftempurl.com/portfolio/sunsetsunrise/

That page was going to be photos of Sunsets.. which really is a category. I was hoping to load a page that has one photo from each category… When you click that photo/category, it takes you to a portfolio page.

Am I doing it wrong? Should the caegory list page be a ‘Page’ witch links to ‘Portfolios’?

I think you need help with the terminology a little bit.

Think of portfolio entries as “Posts”.

A single portfolio entry is called a “Portfolio Entry”.
A list of portfolio entries is called an “Archive” or “Portfolio Archive”
A list of portfolio entries, grouped by a category is a “Category Archive”

Each portfolio entry has its own URL, so for example https://site.com/portfolio/sunsets
The full portfolio archive is always visible at https://site.com/portfolio/
A category view is always visible at https://site.com/portfolio/category/sunset-photography

With all that out of the way – there is one final concept.
You might want your posts to show on your Homepage instead of the URLs listed above. For that, you can assign the Portfolio functionality to a specific WordPress page. You create a page under “Pages -> Add New”, and then in “Portfolio -> Portfolio Settings” you specify that you want to show your Easy Photography Portfolio on that specific page.

Further, since version 1.3.0 you can tell Easy Photography Portfolio that instead of showing the whole Portfolio on that specific page (that you’ve created and assigned) – you can set it to show a single portfolio entry or a portfolio category.

I hope this helps you understand the structure of the portfolio plugin. If that didn’t answer your question – can you rephrase it using the Easy Photography Portfolio plugin terminology?

I am having the same problem. When I install the plugin, I am unable to activate the plugin. It won’t let me.
