Visibility Private – Not Working w/Granted Permissions

The roles of Administrator, Editor, and Author have the ability to “Change Visibility to either Public, Password Protected, or Private”, therefore, should be able to view them. Can you confirm which roles you edited?

I’m using the Members plugin by Justin Tadlock. I’ve set up a member-only role with all of the read permissions. We have member only events that we cannot have listed/viewable on the public side. We don’t want members to be able to edit/add any events or data.

Just to confirm what you are trying to do — you want members to be able to View, but not edit events in your calendar’s admin dashboard?

As I am not familiar with the Member’s plugin by Justin Tadlock and cannot confirm that it is compatible. I can only address functionality of the default WordPress roles and how they interact with our plugin, and, the functionality of the User Roles within our plugin.

Administrator, Editor, and Author roles should be able to both view and edit events.

There is a members only login for chapters members that gives them read-only access to private organization information – files, events, etc. I gave the role the following permissions: read_private_ai1ec_events, read_ai1ec_event, read_ai1ec_events. Should this not suffice?

My apologies. Unfortunately I believe this can only be answered by the developer of the Members Plugin you are using — Justin Tadlock. I suggesting pointing this question to the Support team for that plugin.

What is the recommendation for the event plugin to allow this type of functionality without use of another plugin?

I do not believe it’s possible to do what you initially said you want to do, using WordPress or our plugin as they are provided. If you allow a user the ability to view an event in the dashboard, he will also have the ability to edit the event. If you wish to look into a 3rd party plugin to accomplish this task, we cannot promise it’s compatibility or functionality.
