I have never gotten a definitive answer:
Will Gutenberg support custom fields, and if so how will they be displayed?

I heard a rumor that there was going to be an ‘Admin Drawer’ or something on each post screen that can be expanded to display the metaboxes. I like that idea, is this how metaboxes and custom fields are going be handled in Gutenberg?

  • Custom fields are already supported and if you have a custom post type with meta fields, which is enabled for the rest api, you can install gutenberg and see how it looks. If it’s the final layout, I’m not sure but it does seem to work for the most part.

I have only encountered a few bugs relating to fields utilizing a color picker or date picker.

Happy to hear that custom posts will be supported!

    That link states

“converting PHP meta boxes to blocks is highly encouraged”

but where do I find out how to do that.

It looks like I’m going to have learn react to convert my plugin to work with Gutenberg…

Well i just downloaded the latest and custom fields are nowhere to be seen. They are totally essential to all of our sites and not having them is a showstopper.
