Landing on password protected page initially gets message wrong passoword

    This is a great plugin. I have one issue with it though, which is when you send an email to a client and the click on the button to view images, the landing page they get to shows, ‘Wrong Password’ in red, when no password had been entered by the client. they can then put in the password to get to the images, but it is confusing to them.

    Thanks for using picu!

    The “Wrong Password” message will only appear if you entered the password incorrectly before. (Or if you just clicked on “Enter” without typing in any password at all.)

    When you visit the collection for the very first time, it will not show the message. You can easily test this, by opening the collection in a private browser window.

    But you are right, this might still be confusing if the clients enters the wrong password and comes back later to try it again. Technically it has to do with how WordPress handles password protected posts. Maybe we can improve it with the next version of picu.

    Hi Florian,

    Thanks for your reply. I was seeing the warning before having the chance to put in a password. But from your description I did some more testing and it looks like the issue is isolated to one MAC desktop that I’m using, it must be sending some sort of ‘enter’ input when landing on the page. Sorry for the bother.

    I really like Picu it is great, thanks a lot for writing it.

    I agree that saving wrong pass with cookie is so bad for user experience. Let say that as client/ user I have 2 links from photographer – if I put in 1st link wrong pass – also on 2-nd link I’ll get the same, so wrong pass notice before I put anything. More above this is just bad generally.
