• When I try to use the Cornerstone page builder to edit a page in WordPress, I get a generic error from Cornerstone that states “The preview could not load. This is most often related to a plugin conflict or aggressive page cacheing. Checking the developer console for errors could indicate what went wrong.”

I went through my list of plugins and disabled them one by one, and it seems that Polylang is the culprit. For now, I have to disable Polylang to edit pages and then re-enable it.

See this thread for more info about the problem: https://theme.co/apex/forum/t/the-preview-could-not-load-error-when-attempting-to-edit-a-page-using-cornerstone/19124

    I’m using Polylang 2.2.7.

  • Hello @takaji,

We have the same problem on our website. I found the thread that Cornerstone isn’t compatible with Polylang at all because it stores its translated data under the same post ID. Would be nice if there is any workaround for the problem.

    Hi,

The last time I tested Cornerstone (more than one year ago), it was working. No idea why there is a conflict now.

However when the support of this plugin writes that Polylang stores the translated data under the same post ID, it’s totally wrong. There is one post per language. And posts are linked by taxonomies. All pure WordPress features.

Thanks for the response. If you look at the thread I linked, the Cornerstone staff have updated the thread and recognised that there’s an issue, and are aiming to find some sort of fix.

So I’ll sit tight and wait to see if anything changes. ??
