New WP theme replaced by old HTML site

  • I have a current but old HTML site being hosted by Bluehost. I wanted to upgrade the HTML site using a new theme purchased through Bluehost/MOJO Marketplace. The new theme is loaded and shows up in my WordPress “Appearance” window and is active but when I hit the new theme’s “Customize” button, my old site appears. I’ve tried many ways of getting around this but to no avail. I wanted to work on the new theme while my existing site was still up to avoid a lapse in availability. Any ideas as to what I’m doing wrong here?

    First of all you need to check your both themes name should be different if not then you need to go in theme directory (wp-content/themes/your-theme-folder) and open style.css file and change theme name like this https://www.screencast.com/t/PAecjJOSmVR
    when you done this again go to wordpress dashboard -> appearance ->themes and activate your theme and try again to customize it.
    hopefully that will work.
