Caching? Will Cloudflare conflict with my currently used W3 Total Cache?

  • Hello,

    I am considering signing up for Cloudflare as a CDN, then using the plugin alongside. I currently use (and am quite pleased with) W3 Total Cache for clearing my caches. I like that with them I can manually flush all caches also. Will these 2 plugins conflict if I try to use them both at the same time? I see that in my W3 settings there is a tab for ‘CDN’. I am new to CDN, trying to learn it before I begin it, and am trying to do all of this correctly before I even sign up and start crashing my WordPress install because of conflicts due to my unknowledgeability with CDN and caches. I am wanting Cloudflare for CDN to deliver my images more quickly instead of always calling them off of my GoDaddy hosted plan.

    I’m willing to also post this in the W3 forum if this is not the correct place to ask for help in this topic.

    Hi there,

    Yes, you can use Cloudflare with W3TC. Instead of the CDN tab though in W3TC, navigate to the ‘Extensions’ menu and activate the Cloudflare extension. You’ll be prompted to enter your Cloudflare account email and API key which will allow you to manage some Cloudflare settings via the W3TC plugin. Note however that some Cloudflare settings are also managed by the Cloudflare plugin itself.

    Thank you for the reply. I saw that there were instructions to follow (as you say through the CDN tab through the Cloudflare documentation on their site) for integration, but did not know about what you are saying here about the extensions menu in the plugin. I appreciate the help and reply.

    Hi,

    The Extensions menu can be found under the W3TC menu (which is titled ‘Performance’) in the WordPress admin dashboard, in the left-hand side menu.

    You could also try navigating to yourdomain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=w3tc_extensions

    Once on the Extensions screen, you’ll see Cloudflare in a list of items, which you’ll need to activate. Once activated you can adjust settings, etc.
