Why was this plugin removed from WP Codex?

Hi, I just discovered that WP Retina 2x plugin was removed from the WP Codex on Jan. 12, 2018? Why? Is there a technical or security problem with it? Any chance the plugin developer will fix whatever the problem is, so it can return to the Codex? I like using this plugin and would like to continue doing so. If that’s not possible, is there another plugin you could recommend in place of the WP Retins 2x plugin?
