When users click register, they go to the main site page, not the current site. I have register users enabled in network and local site, but I have register new sites turned off.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi dwolfeman,

What you are seeing is correct, the NSUR plugin will temporarily take you to the main site to register and then bring you back to the subsite after registration. This is because on a Network (or otherwise named as a Multisite installation) registration by users is for the whole network.

From your site I see that you have a subsite with the domain name whitehorsemissions which goes back to register at resilientword which is your WordPress main site install. the way to get round this is to use https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-multi-network/ and create a WordPress installation that is a multiple-Network WordPress installation (or “multiple-multisites”) you can then create a new Network using whitehorsemissions.com as the primary site for that network, then if you had a future need for more subsites under whitehorsemissions e.g. whitehorsemissions.com/subsite1 whenever people register on whitehorsemissions.com or whitehorsemissions.com/subsite1 they would always be sent temporarily to whitehorsemissions.com to register.

To conclude its not an issue with NSUR but just some rework on architectural changes to your site using wp-multi-network that is needed.

installing wp-multi-network you can create new Networks easily within your WordPress installation, however, one thing that I’ve not managed to succeed in is to create a new Network and use an existing site as the base site of that Network (which is your case). In these cases I’ve always created the new network and moved all the content from the existing site over to the new Network primary site. You may have more luck with that but that’s what we’ve found is the most robust route.

Please note always backup your site and data before doing this to have a roll back plan.

It doesn’t really sound like your plugin description matches what you say it does. The whole point was for the subsite to be the registration. I’m not sure how your plugin is a solution to anything.

    Hi dwolfeman,

Registration contained only to the subsite is not possible with WordPress, so its not a plugin “thing” more that WordPress Networks don’t work this way as the user must be registered for the whole network by WordPress, that’s the limitations of WordPress.

If you want to keep everything to the single (sub) site then the two options that I see open to you are :-
    – install WordPress as a single site installation.
    – or Use https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-multi-network/ to get the domain name into a primary site (e.g. https://whitehorsemissions.com) for this you only need to create a new Network, but it does open you up to WordPress’ sociability. This will work and give you the experience that you are looking for. With the wp-multi-network plugin things get quite flexible and every new domain name that you want within the WordPress installation can start with a new Network the new Domain name site will then be the primary site of the Network. So for your case you have your WordPress installed with the primary Domain https://wp.resilientword.com using wp-multi-network it could look something like this….

    WP Network-01
    |– Primary site wp.resilientword.com
    — Secondary site wp.resilientword.com/site1
    — Third site wp.resilientword.com/site2
    — etc

    WP Network-02
    |– Primary site whitehorsemissions.com
    — Secondary site whitehorsemissions.com/site1
    — Third site whitehorsemissions.com/site2
    — etc

site1,2… are not necessary for multiple Networks, but it shows that with WordPress you can always scale up with new site if need be in the future.

    Hope it helps!

I don’t want the credentials to be only for the subsite, I want the user to only see the subsite when he’s registering. I do want the credentials to apply for the whole multisite which is what I thought your plugin did.

For example, if someone is registering for whitehorsemissions.com, I want them to stay on a whitehorsemissions.com registration page, but have their credentials stored normally, so they could login to wp.resilientword.com as well. I thought your plugin would enable this type of behavior.

well it can’t do it alone you need to use https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-multi-network/ t as well.

Looks like I was expecting the behavior that @dwolfeman describes… Hoped it can be solved with single plugin.
