Media Library is acting strange

In the last couple of weeks, I’ve not been able to bring up older images in my Media Library using the search feature. I’m only able to search on current images I’ve uploaded.

I don’t dare delete the wp/includes or the wp/admin file. Is it safe to do? And is the answer to the problem my Media Library is experiencing?
