Hi all. This is my first post here, so here goes. We recently installed a clean multisite setup on a new Linux Server and everything went well and continued to do so for a month, up until the point I tried to install the SSL certificates. Trying to do it in a rush to get the website back up in time for an announcement on the local news inevitably meant I ran into problems, so I decided to try and wind the clock back and remove the certificates until things were quieter.

We are now back to where we were, so the crisis has passed, but I have somehow broken access to the Network Admin Dashboard. The dashboards for both the sites work ok, but if you click on Network Admin, you get ‘Could not find site neuroimmunology.org.uk’

I think the problem is the URL redirecting, but can’t find how to fix it! All other pages have www. on the URL (including the dashboards for the 2 sites), but the URL for the Network Admin Doesn’t. If I try and add www manually, it just redirects back to url without it.

Hope this makes sense and any help is much appreciated.

    Regards, Barry

  • Hello there,

Are you tried anything like resetting the wordpress with any plugins? if so then that plugin is not compatible with multisite environment. You have to remove/create the new database from cpanel to solve this issue.

That will help in your case.

    Thank you,

    Hi Vignesh

We are hosting WordPress ourselves so we don’t have cpanel. There’s an issue doing much at all while we can’t get to the Network Dashboard! I do have Admin rights on the server though, so changing setting and configuration isn’t a problem.

I’m a bit nervous about resetting it all and I’m hoping it’s just something obvious as it only affects this one section

    Many thanks, Barry

I’m still no further forward with this. I’m sure it’s just one line in either WP or Apache configs, but can I find it!

    Any help much appreciated

Solved! It turned out to be a missing www from the domain name in apache2.conf
