• Greetings,

After updating Loco Translate, I am unable to save any changes made to translation. When I click “Save”, there is an endless processing which never ends. When I refresh the page, nothing was changed. Would be please possible to solve this issue?

Also, when I try to create a new language file for a plugin, I am never able to do so. When I click on the button. Nothing happens. This issue has been there for months actually and it never worked for me – always had to create my file manually and upload it via FTP to the necessary folder and then use it in Loco Translate.

Thank you in advance for any tips!

    Vlk

Can you tell me if the problem still exists if you roll back to version 2.0.17?

I’m going to need more information than “nothing happens”. Are you saying the page does not change at all and no errors are shown? Have you checked the console or your logs for errors? Are you connecting via FTP or are your files writable directly?

Can you please tell me how do I roll back to the older version?

Nothing happens means literally, when I click on the button “Start translating”, nothing is happening. Nothing loads up, no error shows up. It’s like if the button doesn’t have any function at all. This issue has been there for months really. I figured out a way around, but it’s a bit annoying. I am not connecting via FTP, files are writable dirrectly. I remember that I was able to create a copy of another language file, such as English an derive my own language from it, this way it worked. But creating a completely new language from scratch never worked. I am also getting a lot of “Unable to load loco-config.” errors, for example if I try to acces user settings. This kind of error sometimes showed during configuration of new language.

Rolling back can only be done by manual installation. If you’re not experienced doing this, then don’t do it.

If you can provide steps to reproduce a bug I’ll fix it, but right now I have nothing to go on.

As I suggested to you in another thread. Disable all other plugins and see if anything changes.

Ok, so I’ve disabled all the plugins again and endless saving bug still persists as does the inability of creating new language file.

More of an issue for me is the first bug – I was able to live with the second one so far, but not being able to save translations is quite critical. ??

Whatever language file I open in Loco translate, do any edit and click on “Save”, the saving button is processing but it never finishes the work. I don’t want to take your time for the second issue, so I will not go into details on that one (but short version is that when you click on “New language” and the settings page opens up, you select your new language file, select directory for it and click on “Begin translating”, there is no activity, the button doesn’t activate anything).

As I said in my previous post: If you can provide steps to reproduce a bug I’ll fix it.

There is no information in any of your comments that gives me anything I can investigate.

I note that your site is still under W3 Total Cache.

I apologize if I am not being clear enough. I can provide you with credentials to our backend if that would help.

The problem with the new translations not being saved began with the new update of Loco translate. Before it worked fine and as I wrote above, after disabling all plugins, it still doesn’t work, so it must be internal problem of Loco translate plugin. Not sure how can I describe the steps in any better way. I have the latest version of WordPress, I have latest version of Loco translate and whatever translation I open up and change it, I simply cannot save it. I click on “Save” button and there is the processing animation of the button but nothing happens, no matter how long I wait. That’s the whole thing.

I am using W3 Total Cache, but since disabling it doesn’t change the problem, I suppose it must be within Loco translate itself.

We can drop the new language bug for now, as I’ve mentioned, I’ve figured out a way around it and it’s not so critical to the function of our website and the plugin itself.

Thank you very much for your time!

P.S.: Seems rather strange that so far nobody have reported this issue.. Could there possibly be a clash with the theme and it’s funcionality somehow? Seems weird though, don’t know why anything from the theme, stripped of all plugins, should in any way affect saving the new translations.

Logging into your server is beyond the free support on offer here.

You’re going to have to do some debugging yourself. I need evidence of something happening before I have anything to fix at my end.

You said the saving process is “endless”. Can you verify it’s really endless? Loading animations are only for decoration. The HTTP request may still have ended and for some reason not shown you an error. You need to check your network inspector for that.

If it really is endless, you need to make sure you have a PHP script timeout configured. If something is hanging, you WILL get an error when the script times out. I need to see that error.

Make sure you also have WordPress debug mode on and PHP logging set up.

I asked you earlier if you’re connecting via FTP or whether your files writable directly. I’m wondering if the hanging is due to a remote connection. See File system access in Loco Translate if you’re not sure.

    Hi there,

Thank you for your time and response. You know, it’s pretty simple. Your plugin worked well before the update, now it does not. I understand, you are trying to help me and I really appreciate your patience, but this is going nowhere (and I have no capacity to investigate this any further than I did so far), so I will rather try a different translation plugin that will work with my current settings. I wouldn’t bother you if I would know that fault is somewhere else, but this was really obvious – before update = working, after update = not working. So the mistake must be somewhere out there within the new version of Loco. I apologize for taking your time and thank you for all your efforts.
