This is a problem on all of my sites, but we’ll start with this one: https://blogplayground.com

I saw in another thread that if you walk through the reinstall steps that the syncing can be turned back on in this version of Disqus. So, I tried and when I go to Disqus to enter in the Installation Token I get an error.

An error occurred trying to configure your site. Make sure the Disqus plugin is installed and activated, and that your site is publicly accessible.

If you try the URL for the token:

    https://blogplayground.com/wp-json/disqus/v1/settings 10e78b5ad6ee32f9133d657a66e41813

    you get the following error:

    {"code":"rest_no_route","message":"No route was found matching the URL and request method","data":{"status":404}}

Again, this is an issue on all of my sites, not just that one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That’s strange, since I do see this URL works when I curl it: https://blogplayground.com/wp-json/disqus/v1/

Are you running WordPress multisite by chance?

Not multisite I’m afraid. I had also tried disabling W3 and my Redirection plugin to rule those out.

Also, for the record, neither of the two updates since this problem started has fixed the issue either.

It looks like we found the issue – our own servers are having issues with some https certificates and we’ll have a fix in shortly. I’ll update this thread when it’s fixed.

Try again now, this should be fixed!

Hey, first thanks for this plugin.

I’m also trying to sync my Disqus comments to WP comments. I tried the automatically config but when I paste this installation token into Disqus https://159.65.43.119/wp-json/disqus/v1/settings 4faa76a9e78ff1fd1b57b579951a032a I get this error:

An error occurred trying to configure your site. Make sure the Disqus plugin is installed and activated, and that your site is publicly accessible.

Then I set up a new API application and set all the necessary keys: https://snaps.jgrossi.com/2018-02-12-xuvkxyc31y.png

Then when trying to sync I get this: https://snaps.jgrossi.com/2018-02-12-2s4fpkzwto.png and this https://snaps.jgrossi.com/2018-02-12-tffu5qky26.png

Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for helping!

@jgrossi The two issues should be related – in both cases the Disqus servers need to contact your site to complete either the installation or syncing.

My first guess is that the IP address causes an issue, although at first glance it seems to resolve that host. I’ll take a closer look and post here again, but it doesn’t look like you are doing anything wrong.

That said, if you are able to access the same site from another domain, try installing from there and let us know.

@ryanv12 thanks for the quick response. I’m gonna setup a domain for the server and try again. I let you know.

    Thanks for helping.

@ryanv12 thanks! I set up a domain and it’s working now! thanks for the tip.

Great, thanks for the feedback! I’ll figure out what issue we were having with the original hostname, and if we can address it.
