    Attempting to install upgrade returns

    Upgrade WordPress

    Downloading update from https://www.ads-software.com/wordpress-2.7.1.zip

    Unpacking the core update

    Could not copy file: /public_html/wp-content/upgrade/core/wordpress/wp-trackback.php

    Installation Failed

I have 4 WPs installations on the same server but only one of them returns this error. Suggestions for fixing? This

Might try deactivating all plugins and try again.

Thank you for the suggestion. However, this site has not one activated plugin. Other suggestions welcome.

    Permission issue?

I believe others have had to change ownership/group of folders to apache.

I was having the same problem on a couple of blogs. On the same host the upgrade worked for other blogs.

Don’t know if this was a coincidence or not, but using cPanel I saw that some of my tables needed repairing. I performed the REPAIR and the upgrade feature worked!
