Content Encoding Error on compression; version 1.5.9

    In the past 3 days my WordPress site running WP Super Cache 1.5.9 occasionally gives the following error in both Firefox and Chrome (haven’t tried Edge)
    CONTENT ENCODING ERROR
    The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.
    Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

    I turned off Compression in WP Super Cache and the problem goes away. When I turn compression back on the problem returns.
    Is this a bug?
