Author Theme not accepting any plugins

Thanks for using Author!

In your General settings, you’ll find that your site URL is using your domain without “www,” but the site always uses the “www” version when visited. If you update the URL in your settings menu to include the “www” this will fix the error with the social media icons not displaying.

Regarding the plugin installation error, this is not related to the Author theme, but I can help provide some debugging steps. Are the plugins you’re trying to install coming from .zip files you upload, or are you searching for them and installing via the Plugins menu in your dashboard?

Thank you for your response. I tried to upload the plugins both ways and neither way worked.

I want to take the date out. Can you tell me how to take out the date, plus the word “on” before the date. If I have to do it via the editor, where do I find it. Thank you!

I just tried to install a plugin again by trying to upload and got this error:

Could not create directory. /home1/africao8/public_html/notesfromablackwoman/wp-content/plugins/add-to-any/

Okay I would recommend asking your host to look into the plugin installation error. It sounds like there may be an issue with the “file permissions” in particular.

I’m afraid there isn’t a simple way to just hide the date without hiding the post author name below each post title, but you can use the following CSS to hide both the author name and date:

.post-meta {
  display: none;
}

Please copy & paste that code into the “Additional CSS” section in the Customizer (Appearance > Customize), and it will take effect right away.

2. I can use the information in the CSS. But can you tell also tell me where to find the author and date information in the editor? It seems I should just be able to remove the date and the word “on”. I just do not know where to find it. Thank you.

There’s not a way to edit that part of the theme with the editor, but I went ahead and made this edit for you with a “child theme.” You can click here to download it.

The author-child-theme.zip file you download can be uploaded via the Appearance menu like a regular theme. Once activated, the date display will be removed from your posts.

I have not downloaded it yet because I am afraid it will erase all my changes. If I download it will I have to start over?

Ignore my last request. I was able to review it before downloading it. It did get rid of a couple of things, but I am able to fix it easily. Many, many thanks for your assistance. I really wanted to use the theme, it is a great looking theme!! Great work!
