I have created a page with Brizy and set it as the 404 page. The page looks correct when editing and going directly to it’s link. When I test the 404 page from the Appearance setting or try to go to a address that will cause a 404 the page loads without the background and showing some of the backend text for the page.

All of these pages now show a 404 error page, but their address remains the same.

Hi, I inderstand that support is nmo longer offered for this plugin, but I wondered if I had done something wrong or am I best getting an alternative plugin.

I hired an “seo expert” off upwork, who claimed to fix all 404 errors 2 weeks ago and did the necessary changes in Google Website Console. When google visited to validate, it failed again? How can I fix this please?

When i turn it off, the option comeback and i can set homepage in the “costumizer” of the Mesmerize “THEME”.

We suspect maybe it can effect SEO because the THEME don’t know what is the actual home page.

If you have option to activate your plugin and keep the default functionality of the THEME, i will be glad to hear that.

We’ve had to disable the plugin as of today due to 2 issues:

1. Instead of showing the 404 error page title on our website it now shows a random blog post as the title, and shows a blog category in the breadcrumbs. Possibly a conflict caused by Rank Math?
2. The plugin breaks the Rank Math 404 error log feature of the Rank Math plugin.

I’ve been trying to use the Smart Custom 404 error page plugin with the Rank Math plugin. The Rank Math 404 monitor does not log error pages while the custom 404 is installed. This is a bit of a known issue. Is there a way you can work with them/us to make the two plugins compatible?

I’m currently using the plugin Redirection?By John Godley, which does recognize all 404 errors.

GSC now lists the custom page as a 404. What am I missing in order to resolve this?

Apologies but it may be nothing to do with your plugin but we don’t know where the problem is so exploring all avenues. We used the plugin on our site but deactivated it several months ago. It wasn’t deleted from the plugins page though.

Yesterday I updated the website, Divi Theme and all other plugins and it was working fine. This morning the homepage is working fine, the curriculum menu and subpages are working fine (sub domain) but all other main pages are going to the 404 page.

I’ve seen this with other plugins where even when it is deactivated or even deleted it somehow retains some settings. Is this possible with this plugin?

“Disable URL autocorrection guessing” is enabled in plugin but WordPress continues to use URL autocorrection (https://confstaged.wpengine.com/registration redirects to https://confstaged.wpengine.com/registration-thank-you-notes/)

What I’ve tested:
– checked that everything is updated (Using Version 11.4.3 of plugin)
– disabled all other plugins
– used default WordPress theme
– used default WP theme and all other plugins disabled

Hi there, great plugin with a proper 404 error response code.

However, I have an error. The page chosen in the plugin as the 404 page can’t be edited with Elementor. Error code in Elementor: “404 – preview could not be loaded”.

Other pages can still be edited. To edit the 404-page I simply need to deactivate the plugin and the re-activate it afterwards.

404Page does not take into account Astra’s option to hide the title of a page.

You can replicate this issue easily :

• Create a page
• Define a title
• And then click on the “eye” icon just above
• Publish and view the page : the title is hidden.
• Define this page as a 404page
• View the page : the title is visible.

I guess there’s a minor conflict where 404Page doesn’t know Astra wants to hide a title.

Could you take a look and tell me if that’s something you can fix in a future update?

When I disable all the plugins and only set 404 active.

Then I go to the theme (kadence or standard wordpress theme) and try to change homepage settings it disappears from the menu.

I have also tried it on different domain but effect was the same.

Whichever page is set as the redirect-to page cannot be tested by https://pagespeed.web.dev/ but other pages on the site can be tested.

Once I disabled your plugin, Google PageSpeed Insights worked again on that page.

I am running 11.4.2 of this plug-in and have done so for a long time. However, when I updated to WordPress 6.1 today, it appears to have broken my site. I was getting a “page not found” error on every single page of the site. When I de-activted this plugin, the error went away and I was able to access pages without any problems. Is there a compatability issue with the plugin?

This version of the plugin has some issues. My site was soup. The reason is that when there were 2-3 javascript files normally loaded on the site, when I updated it to the new version, the following dozens of javascript files, css files, etc. began to load. Then the opening speed of my pages decreased by 50%. Check out the new update again. For example, the block editor is not active for me and many users, so it is closed. Thank you.

My custom 404 page looks fine on the computer, but on mobile it overruns the screen width and you have to scroll horizontally to see the whole page. Really looks ugly.

Is there a way to fix it so it looks good on mobile too?

Hi,

We have an issue with the plugin where it appears to have stopped working.

We are on the most up to date version of the plugin and WordPress.

When we test the redirection it loads the header and footer but nothing in between.

We’ve tested by changing the page that is the 404, and even creating a new page.

It used to work for years but clearly has stopped at some point.

Can you think of any reason why the main ‘content’ of the page wouldn’t load?

If you browse directly to the page it loads fine, just not when redirected.

Thank you for making this plugin.
It looks useful to enforce a custom 404-error-page, that is editable from inside WordPress. This plugin seems to do this neatly.

Think I got a feature-request here:
Redirect the ‘404 triggered-URL’, to the newly-selected ‘custom 404-page-URL’.
So all ‘404 hits’ end-up in the browser with the same'(new)page-URL’.

Currently; different 404-hits don’t give a URL redirect. The 404-page-content show the content of the custom page fine(thank you, as this plugin says it does).

Or did I overlooked a setting……
