“Your site has 880 autoloaded options (size: 6 MB) in the options table, which could cause your site to be slow.”
Query check:
SELECT option_name, length(option_value) AS option_value_length FROM wp_options WHERE autoload='yes' ORDER BY option_value_length DESC;
option_name: a2opt-benchmarks-frontend
option_value_lengh: 5431864
A2 Hosting Support answer (After many messages):
“We understand your concern about the ‘a2opt-benchmarks-frontend’ option and its size. You’re absolutely correct that this option is related to A2 Optimized. To clarify, this option stores performance benchmark data collected by the A2 Optimized plugin. While the size is significant, it’s important to emphasize that this data is only autoloaded in the backend while you’re signed in and will not impact your frontend performance in any way.”
CONCLUSION: A2OPTIMIZED DOES THE OPPOSITE, BUT DON′T WORRY.

The A2 Optimize plugin is fundamentally a good idea but very poorly coded with numerous bugs and inconsistencies.
It also seems to have significant incompatibilities with A2 TurboHub which leads to endless tail chasing as fixing something in one breaks something in the other.
It’ll be great when (or if it ever) works stably but I’ve probably wasted 7-10 days failing to get it sorted.
A2 support, normally very good, don’t seem equipped to deal with with the combination of their own plugins as they believe they have fixed specific issues without realizing that they have just created an issue elsewhere.

Update 1: The plugin seems to have been improved since my first review.
Update 2: A2 tech support intervened and helped reconfigure the plugin, using their CDN. It’s much better now after their help.
Original review: I’m an A2 customer. I had a bad time with this plugin a few years ago. I’ve since run on A2 without their plugin. I tried it again today, and with the basic optimizations switched on, my mobile score dropped by 6 points. It’s now uninstalled yet again, and I won’t be making this mistake a 3rd time. There are too many good optimization plugins out there to choose from.

First off, if you are having any issues with this plugin (I see a few negative reviews), like me, you probably don’t know what you are doing. I had issues too because I didn’t know the best way to set this up.
I jumped on a call with A2 support (ask for Jake, he’s the man!) to get mine fixed up correctly, and the site is now blazing fast. A score of 100 on page speed insights desktop, 77 on mobile (a very respectable result for a review site with ads and Amazon plugins), and an A on GTmetix. There’s no way to BS if you check with third-party tools, and they hit the bullseye.
If you don’t know what you are doing, get this set up correctly with the A2 team. You’re site will definitely benefit.

A-2 hosting just optimized my website. far so good, lets see how this plays out. I am excited about the potential outcome or a faster website.

A2 Hosting support installed this plugin for my site and it has sped it up by 91%. Thank you.

The plugin works very well with the Litespeed Cache plugin. In my case I had to disable Litespeed because my proxy (Ezoic) is not Litespeed compatible and in this case also the object cache is disabled, which caused major problems. In conclusion, my observation is that the plugin brings a decisive advantage in conjunction with Litespeed Cache.

works great with a2 hosting. having issues with the new built in cache system, but perfect other than that.

I love how this plugin carries a lot of the basic needs to improve your site: minifies CSS and Javascript, page cache, PHP OpCode cache, Memcached Cache, removes white space, Page Caching, but my favorite is that it keeps your site more secure in changing your wp-admin – so hackers can’t log in so easy! You can do this manually, but this plugin offers so many features for free! I like how it also has the GTmetrix option so you can see what areas to improve your site. When I run Google Page Speed and GTmetrix my site score improved! I also had a few questions regarding the setup of this plugin and their support team was great!
Took the time to make sure I installed it correctly! I highly recommend you try this plugin! A FEW TIPS: Create a staging site and ALWAYS test NEW plugins here – so your “live site” is never affected, remember the plugins you have already installed can SOMETIMES CONFLICT with the NEW ONES you decide to add or even your theme, and the type of hosting you currently also gets affected with plugins.
I use: Divi Theme, VPS Hosting, Cloudflare CDN, and have 9 plugins with this one! Hope this helps!

This plug-in has a lot of good features built-in, but overall does a really bad job. Lately, I’ve had I/O and physical mem warnings. Took a look into it and it was the cron jobs causing it, but the A2 plugin actually changes the WP Cron jobs to server cron, which is a good thing because the WP Cron isn’t so great, but if the server is limited to such a low memory that even it’s own cron jobs cause problems, that isn’t good. And they are only set to 1 per minute. Maybe this is more a hosting problem, but the plugin slows the admin down too. Everything takes way too long to load. Deactivate the A2 plugin and it works smooth. I guess I am going to have to look for an alternative. Just like having all the options in one plugin. I have fewer issues with clients that are on Gator. For the price of A2, it should be better.

I’m new to A2 Hosting. I did my research and compared hosting companies for a new client in the UK. I’ve used SiteGround’s SG Optimizer and found it to be very useful. I’ve used Bluehosts’s optimization plugin – meh. Anyway I expected good things from A2’s plugin (a revamped WTC.)
I develop with DIVI. I know it’s resource-intensive but it works on a budget hosting environment like o2switch (France) – a bit sluggish but no big deal. I had NOTHING but problems with what I was developing on the A2 host. I couldn’t understand it and and thought maybe that I had really made a bad choice. I went through all their stuff and did implement some minor changes (change heartbeat frequency, move to manual, hourly cron, etc.).
But when I got rid of A2 Optimized and went back to WP Super Cache, the difference was night and day. Now A2 seems like a FAST host and all the resource limits I had before are gone. I’m not typically cynical but it does make you wonder how they could bork up something so badly, unless somehow they really WERE trying to upsell you with this.
So don’t necessarily get rid of A2 but stay away from A2 Optimized.

It really speeds up the website
My website has remarkably speed up, this plugin is a really good one.
I am very satisfied.

I don’t recommend to install this plugin for caching features. After activating and setting up the plugin the loading time of any page will increase up to minimum 10 seconds (even for the backend). Before that my site was loading within a few milliseconds maximum one second.
Don’t install this shit!

A2 is horrible when it comes to supporting this garbage plugin. It’s only an upsell for the “optimized” service. plugin broke my site with “header already sent” errors.

This plugin broke our CiviCRM cron script as well as a mailing list subscribe widget. It may have made a minor improvement to our desktop load time but had a negative effect on our mobile load time per Google PageSpeed Insights.

First, they did a bait and switch on their hosting pricing. Their advertised monthly plan did not disclose the price was actually for a paid yearly plan. That is false advertising.
Next, if you signup for their hosting while using VPN, they will put your account on hold and ask you to send a scanned copy of your credit card and your drivers license or other photo ID. I’ve had an easier time getting through airport security.
Then when you install the plugin, if you do not have your hosting with them, the plugin will subject you to heavy-handed advertising reminding you that the plugin is best used with their hosting. But even if you do have A2 hosting, the plugin will either crash your site or cause conflicts with other plugins.
That was the last straw for me. I canceled my hosting plan and got my money back. At least that was hassle free. No doubt they have a lot of experience with issuing refunds.

I thought because A2hosting is such a good host it’s Word Press optimization plug-in would make my Word Press site even better. I’ve had this thing installed on my sites for more than a year. It’s interfered with other plug-ins most notably WordFence. It has also sometimes interfered with the update of my Elegant Themes, Divi theme. I’ve had to disable this plug-in before the update would become available. Recently I’ve discovered it has been slowing down my sites and the reason I’ve had no comments on any of my posts the last few months is that it requests completion of a captcha, but doesn’t supply any captcha to complete. I’ve deleted the thing. A2hosting should be ashamed.

After experiencing the great service A2 Hosting provides, I heard about their plugin and assumed it would be of similar quality. I was using WP Super Cache so I uninstalled that and installed this plugin as well as their W3 Total Cache “optimized” plugin.
Using this instead of WP Super Cache, my CPU usage was down slightly but my physical memory usage and IO usage spiked very high, to the point of causing faults on my A2 shared hosting plan. Page load times went significantly higher, on the range of 2-3 times higher.
Uninstalled and went back to WP Super Cache. Given the quality of A2 Hosting, this plugin was a huge disappointment.

This A2 Optimized plugin has the optimized presets for the W3 Total Cache plugin which A2 hosting recommends people use on their shared server, although this is not strictly necessary. If desired, the A2 Optimized plugin presets can be manually changed in the W3 total Cache plugin. When I first activated the A2 Optimized plugin, it warned me the iThemes Security plugin was incompatible with it (I.e. W3 Total Cache plugin). I had previously read that deactivating the ‘Hide backend’ option in the iThemes Security plugin would solve the incompatibility issue with W3 total Cache. So I did this and then used the ‘WPS Hide Login’ plugin to hide the backend which iThemes had previously done. Unfortunately this did not solve the incompatibility issue and I got locked out of my website. (This had previously happened to me when using the iThemes Security plugin with another web host and might have been an incompatibility issue with the WP Super Cache plugin and iThemes). So I swapped the iThemes Security plugin for the Sucuri free WordPress upload version and this solved all the plugin incompatibility issues I was having. A2 Hosting also have a free site scanner in their Lite package which although is not as efficient as the paid for Sucuri scanner, it is never the less reassuring to have.
To summarize, the A2 optimize plugin did all the hard work of setting up the W3 total Cache plugin for me and let me know there was an incompatibility issue with the iThemes Security plugin. This has saved me a lot of time and energy and I am truly grateful for this.

I have a shared account and a VPS account.
Im very pleased with the support and all services from a2 hosting,
but Im very disappointed in a2 optimization plugin, it slow down my entire website, my admin dashboard its very heavy…not pleased at all.
When I try to disable a2 optimization and a2-we-total cache – my variable products are removed from woocommerce.
Now supports staff are working on fixing this issue.
But I will not to recommend to anyone. Maybe in other cases is working good, but with woo commerce definitely not.

excellent plugin … greatly improves the performance of the site. I am using with the DIVI theme and I am very pleased with the results. Highly recommend.

Update gives me a warning that it conflicts with Wordfence. Support says ” the issue will probably be solved by disabling Wordfence and installing some other security plugin.” I’m not disabling Wordfence to use this plugin, bye!

Was moving along nicely with getting my site ready for publishing. Then I added A2 Opt along with W3 total caching. It almost wiped out my entire site. I had to basically reinstall my theme, and there was still files left on the server from these 2 plugins that I had to manually remove as they were preventing me from accessing the site.
It was just awful to say the least.
I have recovered most of my stuff, but I have lost about 2-3 full days of work I will have to re-do.

Can’t speak for others but this plugin worked nicely on my end. Noticed a measurable improvement when uploading to one of my personal sites.
One thing that isn’t mentioned anywhere that I appreciate is that the plugin interface is quite intuitive. Immediately after installation there were recommendations on items that I could modify, most of which just by clicking a simple ‘Enable’ link.
