Hi,
it seems like the side bar does not work when using ABT together with WP 6.6.1.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Greeting Florian
Thank God and Derek Sifford, it still works for me in WordPress 6.4.3, 4 years after development ceased! I don’t know what I’ll do when it stops working ??
]]>Hi all,
I understand this is not being maintained. Thankfully it is almost fully functional.
The only trouble I have is that the mobile view for the tooltips does not work anymore, and they display the same way as on desktop, breaking layouts and hindering user experience.
It seems like this is due to tooltip.js being deprecated, it needs to be migrated to tippy.js.
I tried cloning the repository, but the build process is above my paygrade, with a lot of deprecated packages.
Does anyone care to fork this and build it with tippy? I estimate the entire process could take 1-2 hours for someone with basic skills.
The project are looking for maintainers, just saying ??
]]>Aside from it being quite slick, one of the prime features of this plugin was that the output would survive, even if the plugin disappears. Now I’m finding out that is not true, at least not in my case.
When I deactivate the plugin, the reference no longer pops up when mousing over a citation. And the references themselves in the bibliography become malformed, looking like this:
1. 1.
Augspurger CK. 2013. Reconstructing patterns of temperature, phenology, and frost damage over 124 years: Spring damage risk is increasing. Ecology 94(1):41C50 <10.1890/12-0200.1>.
instead of this:
1. Augspurger CK. 2013. Reconstructing patterns of temperature, phenology, and frost damage over 124 years: Spring damage risk is increasing. Ecology 94(1):41C50 <10.1890/12-0200.1>.
I’m disappointed. I’ve got about 50 pages now, each with up to 30 references, and eventually I know I’m going to have to redo them in some other solution.
]]>(I know this plugin is no longer maintained, but maybe someone will also run into the problem and will find this searching for answers.)
My versions:
The plugin breaks the WordPress customizer and an error message appears in the logs:
2021/07/27 11:18:23 [error] 5185#5185: *1107402 FastCGI sent in stderr: "PHP message: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: Argument 1 passed to ABT\Editor\init_editor_state() must be of the type int, null given, called in /srv/www/sites/web.site/wp-content/plugins/academic-bloggers-toolkit/php/editor.php on line 24 and defined in /srv/www/sites/web.site/wp-content/plugins/academic-bloggers-toolkit/php/editor.php:59

The problem is that in the customizer $post->ID
is null
and that causes the crash. (Maybe previous versions of WP or PHP were more lenient, as the crash didn’t appear 4 months ago.)
Deactivating the plugin makes the customizer usable again, so that may be a temporary workaround until you’re done customizing.
]]>Hello,
It seems like this plugin has stopped working properly. This specific issue has been reported by another user +/- 1 month ago.
I can add new references, which are saved under “Uncited Items”, but I can no longer use/cite these references/items. So “Cited Items” and “Footnotes” always remain at 0.
I use the latest version of WordPress and ABT with Gutenberg.
]]>In the README on github, the plugin author seeks a maintainer to take over working on the plugin. I hope someone with the necessary skills and knowledge will do that!
ABT is an awesome plugin on which I rely heavily in my website. While it’s true that the existing citations and references will still work without the plugin, loss of it would mean I can’t edit/add references anywhere.
If you or someone you know has the skills and interest, please consider it!
]]>Sorry, I may be really daft – but how do I make a simple text-based footnote?
Not a citation, just a footnote to clarify something mentioned in the text. I get the citations (kind of at least), but I can’t figure out how to make a footnote. ??
]]>Hi Derek,
Current official version of WP is 5.2.4 October 14, 2019 however your plugin test for ver 5.3? Please assist.
]]>I would liked to hide/disable the bibliography list at the bottom of the post, with just the inline references showing. Is there a quick fix for this?
Thanks for the useful tool
]]>It does not show up in the post editor, i checked the options too.
WP version: 5.2.1
classic editor + Divi theme
this is a great plugin btw, just wished it continued to work!
]]>Hi. I really like the inline widget for the classic editor. I hate Gutenberg like most of WP users & developpers. Even WP create a plugin for classic editor. So it would be cool if you add the old version for non-Gutenberg users.
Also there was a “Generic – Note” part. I used it for translated quotes. That’s all. I wait a new update. Cheers.
]]>I just installed your plugin – and it looks awesome – but I can’t get it activate. Here is the error I am getting:
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

]]>I see the example video shows the numbers being inserted in the text automatically with brackets – but I don’t see an option to make them appear.
What can I do to make the brackets appear?
Ciao,

]]>good morning, the plugin works fine but when i try to access plugin settings in the control panel i get this error message:

how do i solve it?
]]>Hi everybody,
Installed the plugin but can’t activate it.
I get the following error
Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/voxmedia/domains/voxmedia.uc.pt/public_html/wp-content/plugins/academic-bloggers-toolkit/academic-bloggers-toolkit.php on line 69
Any ideas?
Thank you so much
]]>Not a support question, but a question about the future of the plugin – thus I am posting it here.
I am thinking about the future of footnotes in WP after it moves to Gutenberg, and it has been suggested to me to pay attention to your plugin. I was mot familiar with it.
I have installed it on a test site. From what I see, it seems to be meant primarily for academic articles with references rather than articles with footnotes. I see that footnotes can be added too, but your primary goal is obviously to support articles with references – which is great.
But what about importing an article written in Word, or any similar text editor? For that purpose, since I switched my sites to WP over the past 18 months, I have been using the wonderful plugin Mammoth Docx Converter: it works great. I wonder, however, how it will evolve with the block logic of Gutenberg.
Could you please enlighten us about what you have in mind regarding the future of your plugin in the Gutenberg environment? And will the import of footnoted texts be part of this future?
Best wishes for the development of the plugin in 2018!
]]>Hello, does Academic Blogger’s toolkit can work with CKeditor plugin in WordPress?
Thank you
Caroline
This is the most beautiful plugin for citation. However, I have one question. When a citation is added manually for a particular post, it is not available for addition in a different post. Is this facility not present in this plugin?
]]>Is it possible to change the heading of the bibliography from h3 to h2?
In my pages I use h2 for all sections, and this way unfortunately the bibliography appears as a subsection of the last section.
Thanks, and thanks for the great plugin.
]]>Hi, i try to use this plugin. But the Reference List in the Editor is blocked. Maybe a conflict with others plugins. Is there a way to insert reference with Shortcode or something like that.
]]>
I just found about Academic Blogger’s Toolkit 3 days ago and since then I’m struggling to change the anchor text from [PubMed] to be the entire actual citation?
Actual example:
Instead of:
1. E. Solovieva, K. Farrahova, A. Karneev, and D. Chipova, [Phospholipids metabolism disorders in acute stroke]., Zh Nevrol Psikhiatr Im S S Korsakova, 116 [1] 104C12 (2016).[PubMed]
I would like to be:
I ended up editing the \lib\js\reference-list\index.js file but it’s out of my knowledge so please tell me how can I accomplish that.
Thank you!

]]>Do you have any ideas, why the plugin doesn’t work. Bevor we update to 4.6 all works fine.
https://spheres-journal.org/on-the-western-narrative-of-empowerment-through-ict-a-comment-to-amanda-atwood/
– also the creation about editor in the article doesn’t wok.
Any idea is welcome. ??

]]>hi there,
i am *very* new to wordpress and have been using this toolkit successfully. I am trying to export a 4 KB ris file and it wont load. Smaller ris files work however. Is 4 KB too large for this toolkit?
thanks in advance for your time/help.

]]>Hi, I really like this plugin and can see massive potential for its use. I’m not sure if this is already build into the plugin as it stands, but is there a way for users to nominate peer reviewers based on the user library and/or user roles? This would be really good feature to have to an already stella plugin.
https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/academic-bloggers-toolkit/
]]>I love the plug-in. I am an academic but now writing for a more general audience so though I cite in my blog posts, I don’t really want peer reviews. is there any way to remove that box.
Thanks.

]]>Is there any way to make a “blank” cituation style with this? There are just too many styles included, it would take years to find out if one of them is actually correct as I would want them.
Apa style is closest from what I have found so far. But I would like the title to be in italics. That is the only thing missing for me.
But what I really would want is to be able to write different things, or even paste html, some examples:
Also, there seem to a be a bug where I cannot save “Display Options” – everything else works great, as CSS and such. What would be great is if you could create your own cituation style with css, by having tags around every element.

]]>Workflow would be significantly improved if the Preferred Citation Style, set in Options, was auto-selected in the “add formatted reference” dialogue box. Similarly, if there was an option for always link to PubMed, and that was populated by default in that same dialogue box, then I would only ever have to add the PMID (my other choices would be selected by default based on the main options settings).
Nice plugin so far.

]]>I can’t get the [ref] shortcode to work. I watched the animated gif in the screenshots, and when I try to use something like the following, my page load just breaks:
[ref id=”9702770″]
I’ve tried changing my theme to the default, and disabling all other plugins, without any success. There are no console errors to report.
Please advise?
