Hi!
I love this plugin, but I know it doesn’t get updated very often.
After doing recent updates to WordPress core and the ACF plugin I’m having issues with this. It forms a dark overlay and you cannot select crop.
Please update it! There is an alternative called “aspect Ratio” or similar, and I think it’s based on this one, but it doesn’t have all the features.
A good plugin, but unfortunately useless if it’s not updated in line with changes to the main plugin or possibly wordpress core (I’m no programmer so not sure where the issue lies!).
Thanks, Alex

This plugin is amazing, makes it so much easier to define strict image sizes but give clients much-needed flexibility for cropping. Thank you!

So this plugin rocks but it seem to have a bug (might have been fixed), the new image that is generated from the cropping of the image is bigger in files size than the original.
For example I would crop say 1000x1000px (size 30kbs) image and crop it down too 500x500px and the files size would be 60kbs. Ever time i would re-crop the image it would increase in file size.
Anyway great plugin

Followed their steps to install the plugin, but there was no indication that it did anything other than it complaining that it can’t be applied more than once.
Granted I am still a bit new to WordPress, so it would be nice if they can provide clearer instruction on how to get it working.

This plugin works, but we have using S3 offload plugin so internal path would not exists. Need to add some conditions to read from remote server.

This iteration is perfect. And as the previous reviewer mentioned, works exactly how I envisaged down to the actual cropped image displayed in the preview (overriding the preset preview image size in the ACF setting).
I wanted to support the plugin, but there is no button to donate.
(It would be excellent if this feature was integrated into ACF.)
Thank you for the time you have put into this to make it available.

I thought I was going to have to write this plugin myself, but lo! here it is, exactly as I’d envisioned. Awesome user experience improvement.

Works just like it describes. Would love to have the ability to assign multiple crops to one image!

I love this plugin, but really need a setting for image quality. The images generated tend to be on the large side. I see in the source it is hardcoded to 100%. If this could be an option set by field it would be awesome!

This is a great plugin. It makes it user friendly for our clients to edit. My one complaint would be to have it carry over the metadata of the original photo. When you have the photo cropped, it doesn’t cary over any of the alt text (which is much needed for seo, and accessibility reasons). At the very least, a place to enter the alt text before the crop button is pushed. Perhaps this could even be a paid feature so you can get paid for your time developing this great add-on.
I love the preview and other things. Great work.

Using this in a membership directory site. Users can upload their photos. This allows me to force minimum dimensions of their original photo and offers the user control over how they want their head-shot framed. Couldn’t be happier.

I have been looking for such a plugin as this for a long time and today i found yours. My search is over. This plugin works better than i could hope for and will be a natural part of my future development. Thank you very much for an exellent plugin! Very intuitive and easy to use. Good job!

Works really well. Thanks a lot for releasing the plugin.
I already suggested a slight improvement in the support forum, hopefully this will be implemented soon as an option.
Other than that centering the crop by default at the start would be cool, but I understand its quite tricky to do (I had a quick look at the js but couldn’t figure it out).

It adds a really useful function to image field

The advanced custom fields plugin is one of my favorite plugins, and this add-on made it even better

I was looking for a quick easy solution to get all my custom post images a universal size basically without affecting the image, just trimming the fat on the ones that were too big. The only functional option I found in this plugin was a square crop. That seemed to work fine. There is an option for a custom crop, where you can specify image dimensions. But when you go into the field to crop the image it gives you a random sizing box that doesn’t tell you what height vs what width. Sure you can crop at some random image size that you have no clue what it is. But, that’s not very useful, I don’t want pictures that are stretched to fit the dimensions. I want a crop. Too bad. It looked like the perfect tool until I tried it out.

Today is Thank a Plugin Author Day so I am writing reviews for some of my favorite plugins. I just recently started using this one and it fills a huge gap in my web development as far as handling image cropping. I’ve been needing this for so long and only wish I had found it sooner. Thank you for all the hard work you’ve put into the development of this plugin and thank you for sharing it with the community.

this solve a major issue for us thanks

Some aspects of this plugin are awesome. In fact, many are. The reason for 1 star:
1) Cropped images are left in the uploads folder even if the image is deleted from the media library. Which, depending on how you’re using this plugin, you could end up with tons of images with no way to sort them out.
2) Cropped images turn out larger. I uploaded a 280KB image, and cropped it to a smaller size. The cropped image was over 500K!!! This effects page speed and disk space over time.
3) Each cropped image also creates a crop preview. Though not huge in size, it adds to the disk weight of this plugin.
I just spent a lot of time removing this plugin from my site(s) completely. I need a clean uploads folder, and fast page loading. This tool is great in theory, but it has a long way to go to be a functional option.

Plugin works wonderfully: it does exactly what I need to ensure that images in certain areas/pages are correctly sized.
Had an issue with getting it setup, but had very quick and helpful advice from the developer and now everything works wonderfully.
