Can you read the site cpt’s and add them to menu?

There is a ticket for improving the top admin menu links: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/32678
It is on a standstill and need some additional developer eyes.
Perhaps you guys can take a look and help out?
It would be great to get this into core.
