Hi,

I have problems with displaying thumbnails. The are showed correctly for logged in users and not showed for all others. I suppose that this is related to iThemes security and htaccess rules.
I found that link to image looks like this “https://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/plugins/advanced-recent-posts-widget/timthumb/thumb.php?src=https://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/yourimage.png&h=50&w=50&z=0” and this doesn’t work for me.
If change the link to looks like this “https://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/plugins/advanced-recent-posts-widget/timthumb/thumb.php?src=/wp-content/uploads/2015/12/yourimage.png&h=50&w=50&z=0” it works fine.

I’ve made a fix to the plugin to use relative URL when it’s possible.
How can I provide you the fix to be included in the official version of the plugin?

Plugin URL flagged by Google safe browsing

Just a quick FYI, it appears that this plugin’s URL has been flagged by Google’s safe browsing system as a possible malware URL – Wordfence scans are detecting the URL in the main php file’s comments area and the readme file and are issuing warnings about it.

It’s simple enough to delete the URL from the two files, and it shouldn’t affect the plugin’s performance.

On a side note, does anyone have a recommendation for a more current replacement for this plugin?

Hello,

I know there are a few posts here already about modifying the CSS of the plugin. But I haven’t been able to find one that helps with my issue. I might be a bit green to WordPress and CSS. But here’s what I’d like to do…

I’d like to add a recent posts module to my home page: https://un-ruly.com. Just below where I have popular posts. (I don’t know why the images aren’t showing up there. That’s another issue). I’d like the recent posts to be formatted like the popular posts. I tried adding the “marketing” ID as well as the “masonry2” ID (both of which are IDs in the Divs of the popular section). But that doesn’t work. I’d really like to avoid inline styling.

Can you help?

When the Advanced Recent Posts Widget is used on the same page as the WP Customer Reviews plugin, it seems to create some sort of disagreement. On my site(s), at least, the problem seems to me to present under the following circumstances:

The Adv. RP widget is mounted to a footer sidebar across the entire site.
The WPCR shortcode is implemented on the Testimonials page
There are enough reviews to trigger pagination
Clicking a page number will append the URL and redirect/load correctly for a second
When the page code reaches the footer where the recent posts are located, the page is immediately redirected to the first post listed

No site link included because I need to implement a solution (use another widget), but perhaps with the above notes it can be recreated?

Issues lining up the post title and thumbnail

First of all – great plugin. It works, and it’s simple yet highly customizable.

I’m having issues though – my only gripe is not being able to get the proper CSS to have the post title and the thumbnail line up. Currently, my widget has the thumb above the title, and no matter what I do (margins, float, etc), I can’t seem to get the darn thing to line up.

Any ideas?

MultiSite Inconsistencies – ARPW Thumbs

I absolutely love this plugin. It’s straightforward and easy to customize with plenty of built in options out of the box.

My problem is that there are inconsistencies with thumb generation / permissions.

I am running WPMU 3.8 with ~100 sites and several which use the ARPW plugin. At one time (don’t ask me when or what version) it worked perfectly with a modification in the thumb.php file but of late that is no longer working.

I have spent the better part of 3 hours trying to resolve with no luck. I found plenty of *solutions* but nothing that worked. I got lucky last time…

A client brought it to my attention last week when I was doing a remote training session. I had no idea there was a problem and here’s the dirty.

If I am logged in as any user role (Super Admin in my case) I can see the thumbs as expected on a live site. However, if I am logged out there are no thumbs at all.

When I open the specific thumb image to view it works if logged in and otherwise gives me the Not Found error page.

I am lost ??

I don’t want another plugin – I like this one.

I feel I have thoroughly exhausted my search for a solution with no success and so I leave the fate of ARPW in your hands ?? I’m desperate here!

ARPW – Version: 1.1a
Timbthumb – Version 2.8.10 (as included with plugin – tried most recent release with no change)

Feature Request – add custom class to widget

The only thing missing – otherwise is a great implementation – is the ability to add a class to the widget.

If I need to style category widgets differently – one style for news posts, another for video posts etc – I would like to be able to define a class for it.

Currently the only way to define and style an individual widget is to use the div ID gform_widget-x. As this defining class changes whenever a new widget is created – gform_widget-1, gform_widget-2 etc – I currently have to edit and add css code for each new widget.

Being able to add a class would let me simply apply predefined styling to it instead!

I have 2 pages that use 2 different page templates. The templates are very similar, basically the only difference is they have 2 differently named widget areas.

I need to use the Advanced Recent Posts widget on both of them; 1 page showing the last 3 posts and 1 page showing all posts. But when I try to add it to both widget areas; it only works on one. Both widget areas are definitely working; They both work if I drag the widget on just one; but not if it’s on both.

How can I get it to work on both pages??
