Good plugin, that generally does what it says on the box. Needs a more intuitive / WordPress looking interface and a sprinkling of WordPress integration; such as using the ‘Add Media’ dialog box instead of their own custom one!

This plugin has been abandoned. It does not function with the latest version of wordpress and support questions have gone longer than 1 year without answers. Avoid.

I’m using BedRock and I have HTTP 404 error when open Advanced WP Columns iframe popup in editor. I have a message in popup “Sorry, but the page you were trying to view does not exist.”
In console I can see that plugin requires HTML from wrong directory.
Please, fix or add text field when users can put path to current plugin directory in Plugin Settings page in Admin.

Tried this using a simple 3-column layout with an image in the first column.
Problem #1: You need to know the actual URL of the image on the site, (you can’t browse for it), and you can’t upload a new image.
Problem #2: The image doesn’t scale, despite the options to select the desired size on the image input box. Result: messed up layout.
Problem #3: Using an image specifically sized to fit the width of the column, (in this case 120px), did seem to work. It looked fine in page editing mode, but page preview showed text overwriting the image.
Conclusion: needs work, an a LOT more testing.

At this point.. I’m giving 5 Stars.
I used it to transform a number of my pages that were using tables that were not responsive… and these tables had tons of information, and incorporated a number of plugins with inside each “column.”
This plugin allowed my tables to now be in DIV columns that were responsive and improved my Google User Score.
I have been experimenting with it… and have not found any conflicts.
One mention in another review mentions they could not resize images.
To understand this plugin, you must not think it is the end all to your Visual Editor.
When you first use the plugin, you create your columns. There is a very “simplistic” editor view at this step. I would suggest you place some text in each of your columns.. just as a placeholder.
Click ADD Columns…. then switch back over to the Visual Editor as you would normally proceed. Where you can adjust and add more text and images at this point. Resizing etc..
If you want to get even fancier.. you can switch over to the Text Editor.. add borders, adjust padding etc..
Using another plugin, that creates Templates… you could save your styling into a template.. and easily drop in your favorite Columns design.
Yes.. there is some tweaking to be done by the user to get what you want to appear correctly.. but on the whole a very handy and useful plugin.
Thanks for your work and have a great day !

As it is written in the tittle : little squares appear = url image not found, with google chrome.
I change for shortcode ultimate.

At first you will think you’ve found what you need it. The base idea was good, but after using it for few hour you will realize that sometimes people just simply should stay AWAY from making plugins! It’s full of bugs and you have to have literally a ‘battle’ with columns and text. Instead of help, it will messing up your website even worse than when you don’t even use it. Support not useful at all. They will tell you that it’s your own theme what mess up this ‘plugin’ but in the truth, it’s just a prestest to not admit that this plugin is full of bugs.
I suggest simply to delete this plugin from WordPress. It doesn’t even deserve to be called ‘Plugin’. Good idea but bad realization. I suggest to correct the bugs or remove it.

Sarah Gooding shows this plugin with a very different UI. It lacks much of the functionality that is depicted.
It adds a ton of code to a page, just to make a column. It doesn’t have a good interface to add images from the library. I don’t know how it works to have different styles and classes on different pages, but I don’t see how that could be easily done.

Terrible plug in. Use it just because it seems to be the only one, but very hard to use: width must be adjusted manually and there is noway to modify columns after you have added them to the post. Inexistent customer support.

Usually works great, but sometimes “glitches” and puts your content into a super narrow column, and then I have to “re-do” the whole section using copy & paste. Overall, I’m real happy with it, other than the occasional glitch! Would have given it a 5, except for that…

When first downloading and installing this plugin it works great out of the box! However once you see how your columns appear in responsive view – you may not like it so much.
The interface that you can access from the WP visual editor is great and easy to use (drag and drop) interface.
Anyway, back to the responsive view. It centers all the text that is showing on a resolution of 1024px wide and below. The css for this action is even baked in inline into your HTML source code using !important declarations. I really don’t know why people would want heaps of centered text on a mobile viewport. If anyone wants a fix for it please see here https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/text-alignment-changes-in-smaller-browser-window?replies=4
Plus the plugin adds lots of extra code into the visual editor which could cause some issues when handing a website over to users/clients that are not too familiar with HTML, they have a real potential to break it. Also once you create the columns, there is no easy way to edit them. You can edit the code or create them all over again.
This plugin has great potential but it is not fully realizing it. It needs a few refinements, that’s why I am giving it 3 stars.

i am using the Alizee theme, and the plugin just won’t show…
thus when i go to the page editor – visual, nothing has changed, no icon to click, no added functionality…

This plugin is an in between a cloumns-rows shortcode, and a full blown page builder plugin. It’s nice it’s simple, it’s efficient.
1. That said, you cannot resize image.
2. This issue was raised several months ago, and the developer has ignored the problem to the day
Because of the 2 issues, I gave this plugin 3 points and not 5.

Love this plugin! This was the perfect solution for our clients. We even featured you on our weekly channel https://youtu.be/c7SCQ-9YAz4 – hands down WORKS like it advertises! Wonderful job!

Thank you thank you thank you for creating this plugin! I have wanted a super-easy shortcode to make responsive plugins and your plugin takes the cake! How nice to allow simple semantics: column-groups! and make the computer do the math.
SO grateful – thank you.

Really great plugin! A very client friendly solution!
But the responsive style after the breakpoint is not very nice: forced “text-align:center”

It’s amazing how many plugins attempt to pull off responsive columns, but fail. Either they are complicated to use, or don’t “collapse” properly on smaller screens.
Enter this plugin. It offers a visual editor to easily adjust the percentages and insert your content. And it not only responds well to smaller screen sizes, but you can set the breakpoint yourself, which is helpful since some designs might not look good broken up at 1024.
My only gripe (and the reason I docked a star) is because you can’t see the outlines of the columns in the WP editor after using the plugin’s. Not a major issue, but it would definitely help in the usability area.
Overall, great plugin, no fuss. I highly recommend it.

It’s a quandary this one. As someone who only uses responsive layouts I found the popular column plugins rather frustrating. They work well with simple shortcode, and from that point of view they’re great. No messy code in your post to deal with, just easy shortcodes.
However, when you reload the page under a different screen size/resolution, those simple column plugins look awful. They don’t float like they should do (and I mean float as in the html term for floating divs) or stack when the page is reduced in width.
Advanced WP Columns, on the other hand, handles responsive design well. I’ve done a quick test and compared this plugin with the other, simpler plugins, and for me this wins hands down.
And to the reviewer who gave this plugin one out of five stars because it doesn’t use percentage width, it does. I can only assume this plugin was updated to accommodate this feature after you wrote your review. I thought it was an unnecessarily harsh review for a great plugin that’s clearly had a lot of work put into it. Fortunately that was for an earlier version of WP, and I’ve tested this on 3.9.1 and it works well.
Definitely recommend.

Awesome at first glance, but the generated markup is really messy. Empty divs with 1×1-Pixel PNGs as “spacers”, Inline styles, … unusable for HTML-purists.
