You lost me the moment you asked for credit card information despite all options being set for free. You don’t need that info until I make a purchase.
In other words, the free version requires you to submit your credit card info before you can even utilize the plugin. In a world where shady practices are rampant, you shouldn’t use scams as a blueprint for how to do business, even if you were legit. Appearances are everything, and asking for access to a payment method despite having $0 owed is north of shady in 2024.
Would rather import Google Calendar at that rate.

“We are writing to inform you about an important update to the features of our Free Plan, which will take effect on August 15th, 2024. As of this date, the event limit for Free Plan accounts will be set to 25 events.”
I started using this calendar a few years back and it was good. Couple years ago they “upgraded” into something difficult to use, but I reluctantly kept it. Now they want money for this turd.
Bye.

Worst decision ever…. I will switch to another calender plugin.

I set up Time.ly for a client in December 2023. It was a simple calendar and all was well. Unfortunately I was unaware of the strange business practice to delete an account if it wasn’t logged into regularly. This seems high maintenance and unnecessary. I did receive emails warning me of this, but they had gone to my spam filter so I didn’t know this was coming. So my client’s calendar was deleted and we will now have to start from scratch. Customer support just advised me to create a new account. No thank you. I will be looking elsewhere for a calendar plugin.

The original (legacy) version of this plugin was superior to what’s on offer currently.
We currently utilise the legacy plugin on over a hundred client platforms integrated with an ICS feed. They do not support legacy users that have used the old plugin for years. They’ve collapsed all of the functionality related to importing events, etc. overnight. Their support is non-responsive and largely unhelpful when faced with reality.
We have previously attempted to transition one of our clients to the newer version of the plugin which is now solely hosted on their website and iframed on the WP Dashboard. Unfortunately, this proved to be impractical due to significant design and development limitations, as well as decreased flexibility compared to the older version, and significant increase in cost for less features. As such, migrating all platforms to the new version does not make sense nor is it feasible for us.
We utmost highly recommend seeking an alternative calendar plugin and avoiding future issues.

What a shame, I have been using the Timely All In One Events calendar for 10 years, almost since it’s beginning. Back then support answered you immediately and helped out with many queries and suggestions. You could stay that us early users helped them develop the product. I was rewarded with full access to all the features. It became one of the main features of my website, I put 100’s of hours into creating events (all third party), I could allow people to post there events on my site. Then after a few years, without warning, they removed my access. I contacted support, at least they answered, but they said they had developed a new product, they were still running the old product but I’d have to pay again for it. I had to streamline functionality and purchase the the pasteboard add-on, but my hours and hours of work were’t lost and the calendar continued to be a major feature on my site. Now, without warning, they have removed access to my old version of the plugin and forced me to download the new one. It is useless, it doesn’t have half the feature and the content editor is only available with an upgrade. Prior to being told I had to install the new version, they told me they had migrated all of my events, which are repeated year on year so all I needed to do was change the dates. They didn’t, they only migrated seven events, 100’s of hours of work lost. They won’t reply to my requests for help, they are not interested. I have lost one of the main sources of income for my site. It’s such a shame, it was such a good product and they used to have good support. Now they are only interested in chasing the corporate bucks. These sort of companies shouldn’t be allowed to advertise on wordpress.

I just want to put my organization’s event and this requires time.ly account.
This is not for me. I don’t understand why I need to post the event to time.ly server. believe me, I’m cloud platform development manager. This is waiting of resource.

First of all, there’s no way to find out how much the premium version costs unless you schedule a meeting with their VP. When we emailed their assistant to confirm the meeting time, the assistant never even bothered to respond, the result of which we waited for an initial meeting that did not happen. The second time we were more fortunate, but that’s where the real issues begin. The first-tier premium version itself is overpriced at $1,300 a year, with limitations on number of events and the ability of people to pay for advertising. Now, onto the plug-in itself. The events are hosted on Time.ly’s servers, which may result in your events being held hostage, as other reviewers have pointed out. However, the core issues have to do with functionality. Specific events are rendered via pop-ups, rather than distinct pages — again because you are essentially embedding a widget in events from THEIR website, not yours. In addition to this having NO SEO value (since specific events cannot be indexed), the tendency of a user is to use hit back button to get out of an event, which results in the user being taken to the website page BEFORE the calendar, which is a frustrating UX. (The pop-ups also had issues rendering on mobile, which is a serious issue. This is probably the result of substandard coding, such as the absolute positioning used in the free version.) Finally, communication with their team was frustratingly slow, with responses often taking a day or more. If this is the level of service they offer in pre-sales, one can only imagine how slow it will be once you are paying for something you cannot even back out of.

The developers don’t update the plugin to work with modern PHP versions, and it causes lots of runtime warnings.

stay away for now. the plugin is not compatible with php 8.1 and produces tons of warnings and errors

Downloaded and installed the recent v3.0.1 update. Now the Upcoming Events widget displays poorly formatted garbage, the Calendar Page displays poorly formatted garbage and the Event page displays poorly formatted garbage. It is unusable as a plugin and makes the website look like crap.
Have emailed Time.ly several times seeking assistance or at least the ability to download and revert back to a previous working version but have yet to hear back. Crickets. Assume they are overwhelmed by this broken update?!?!
Did they even test it before pushing it out?!?!

I have used the Timely Events calendar for a long time. Up until now I would have recommended it. I learned recently that I had been using a discontinued version of the plugin when the sidebar agenda and the event posts themselves lost their formatting. I was advised to upgrade to the newest plugin, so I did.
This is the reason for my one-star review.
I do see that many people are happy with the website, but this new version of the plugin has caused me a lot of pain and even more work.

I am very disappointed in the “new and improved” version. I used to be a fan. They have now made it almost impossible to use. I was unable to even log in. I will be uninstalling Time.ly calendars from all my sites.

One star review because a client installed this, didn’t use it but left it active, and since the date of installation it used every bit of bandwidth available on the server. Below is one of the many thousands of entries in the error.log

We are a low-budget website for Boy Scout units that have used this plugin for over a decade. We used to sync the calendar feed from a URL that was a calendar in our advancement system to give visitors public access to our calendar, but that is now locked behind a $25/month fee that only includes about 200 events at time, meaning we can’t even put our full program calendar in for the year and have it display all at once.

This plugin installed just fine, but once installed it prompted for login. I used an account created and verified, but pressing the ‘login’ button after entering email and password did nothing at all. Ultimately, I had to disable and uninstall.
Additionally, it seems this plugin does not import CSV or ICS FILES, only streams.

Hello,
is there a way to repeat an event yearly using plugin’s free version?
Thank you

I love this tool and I use it with 4 pages. Theres only one big problem. It opens a door for spam comments in importet events.
I have deactiveted comments global but in event pages built by the plugin wich are imported from a google calendar the comments are always activated. Spammers use this door for thousands of spam comments ??
Please close this door.

We paid for the premium add-on to get the posterboard view. Now our account isn’t seeing it – it won’t activate. I tried reaching out to support, but nobody is answering. Plus, you can’t reach out to support unless you pay, and our account is messed up saying we didn’t pay, so we can’t reach out to support through the site. I had to try responding to an old email, which I got no response to at all. Totally awful.

Necessity to log in on the author’s website, uncertainty with data. I do not recommend.

Use to use this way back in the day so I thought I would try again now. Well it’s turned into something unusable. Throws errors constantly. Importing from ICS is broken. Forcing the login slows everything down as it takes a while. Just not worth it.

Initially this plugin seemed to work fine. But now it’s a constant disappointment. Events I added over the last two weeks do not appear in the web page even though they show in the dashboard. Often (but not always) the events appear in the website but are cut off by several characters on the left side.
I’m done with this plugin.

dont touch it. very bad

Been using this plugin for years and was a local plugin.
Suddenly they switch to hosting all through their own system. Which meant no data was held locally. And when viewing events it opened on their website and not your own. Losing a lot of SEO.
Suddenly got an email saying we needed to pay $365 to use the calendar, they switched off the service same day as the email.
Now can’t access any of my events so can’t add to a new calendar.
Absolutely terrible and should be ashamed to do that to people’s businesses. Withholding data unless you pay a large amount.

And why all these useless HTTP queries to external sources?
]]>Rating: 1 star
I tried the calendar, because they had an extended view, which should be free. I also read somwhere, that a booking feature should cost 60$.
But all changed. The basic plan with extended view ist 210 USD$ per year. So ask for new prices, before starting.

If there was a way to select zero stars I would do it.
I have been using the free Time.ly calendar app for quite a number of years. It has worked perfectly well for the few dozen events that our club hosts each year. An email encouraged me to drop the current version and upgrade.
When I uploaded the .ics file to reload the old and future event data I was informed that I had exceeded the 100 event limit and that I needed to contact them to discuss pricing options. This was the first I knew of this. There was no mention of this limitation before the upgrade. In addition, the familiar interface has gone and the new one appears very clunky. I still haven’t been able to get it to work and customer support, which used to be very good, is sadly lacking since the upgrade.
Please also note that one has to create an account with Time.ly before one is able to fully activate the plugin. It’s therefore no longer a freestanding app, but is linked to their central site.
I’m now in the process of finding another calendar app.

I’ve used the basic features of this calendar product for several years, using the free option. Didn’t need all the advanced features, just a basic calendar so people can see what is going on. It worked fine.
But this week we got a notice that this plugin is being discontinued, and replaced by another one. Their support helped us export our data and import to the new feature. HOWEVER, unlike the old plugin, the new one limits you to about 90 events on a free account. That didn’t work for us. THEY DIDN’T SAY THIS before I went through all the conversion. I got an email saying that we exceeded the limit, that we could talk to them about a paid account. Look at the website, there is NO information about pricing.
