This post is a it delayed. Version 3.0.3 was released 6 days ago.
A small update updating the dashboard and its widgets to reflect changes on my website. Links to the forums and such have been updated. The stats widget of Analytics Spam Blocker has been simplified a bit as well.
Did you get version 3+ yet?
Starting with Analytics Spam Blocker 3.0 you no longer require a subscription to get blocklist updates. This system didn’t really work as expected so I’ve removed it. Instead when you report your website gets listed in my database as a reporter. More for reference than anything else. If you don’t report for a while this listing gets removed.
When you then make a new report, you’re simply added again. Simple as that. No buttons to click, no subscriptions and server communications, no tracking, no hassle or failing synchronizations. It sort of just works.

What happens with your report

Reporting domains is easier than ever and what’s even better, the domains you report get added to your own blocklist immediately. If a few people report the same domain it’ll be included in the standard blocklist in a future update. Analytics Spam Blocker then figures out a new list when you update and removes the double entry. So there is never any confusion
Reporting referral spam is important. And to get rid of referral spam the best way is to make it obsolete. This is easily done with Analytics Spam Blocker and its reporting tool in your dashboard. Quickly report referral spam domains to my server, if several people report the same domain it’ll be included in the blocklist and ultimately will no longer show up in peoples website Analytics like Google Analytics or Matomo anymore.
When enough domains get reported, and consistently so, hopefully one day the internet will be free of referral spam. Only with your help we can make this happen – so keep reporting your referral spam domains via the Analytics Spam Blocker dashboard in the Tools menu.
Changes for version 3.0.3

At long last, an update for Analytics Spam Blocker. This new version is a complete overhaul of how the plugin works with all new code underneath, new dashboard elements on top. Reporting is now faster and your blocklist is more inclusive.
Analytics Spam Blocker has been reworked to make it even easier for you to deter referrer spam. An all new API to report domains to and a custom blocklist that’s immediately updated with the domains you add.

Hello,
I use this plugin on all my websites without issue. Only my newest website is unable to register for updates. This is the issue:
Something went wrong registering your website. Please review the error below and try again.
error – INVALID REQUEST (15 November 2019 13:23)
How can we solve this?
Hello,
There’s a notice on our dashboard: This website is not registered. When I click the button, it opens the dashboard page in a new tab. Nothing else happens.
I’ve found the settings page of your plugin which also has a register website button. When I click that, I get this error:
Something went wrong registering your website. Please review the error below and try again.
Error – (11 april 2019 16:51)
See: https://prntscr.com/nalvyr
It looks like your service is down. Can you check this please?
Thanks! ??

Hello,
The plugin gives error – WEBSITE NOT FOUND. It also says that this usually resolves in about 24 hours, but the first time I saw this error was already a few days ago.
How can we solve this? ??
Thx!
Hi!
Today I updated my WP site to 4.8, and then it crashed with error 500. Then I checked log files, and see that your plugin generated the issue.
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in …/wp-content/plugins/analytics-spam-blocker/analytics-spam-blocker-api.php on line 56
I checked and found that original php is this:
$report[‘domain’] = parse_url($report[‘domain’])[‘host’];
I modified to this:
$report[‘domain’] = parse_url($report[‘domain’][‘host’]);
And then I can activate your plugin again.
Please check that my modification right, or please update your plugin if needed!
Kind regards,
Jozsef VER

Does your plugin keep all that intact or does it overwrite items? How does it treat the file?

Hi mate,
I appreciate the frequent updates to your plugin. However, kindly let me notify you that your updates will not have any effect on most websites.
Once I update your plugin, the htaccess remains the same. Only when I manually deactivate and then reactivate your plugin, the changes become visible in the htaccess.

This plugin has problems since it dosen’t apply htaccess changes correctly.
I’ve installed this plugin on several sites to combat the incoming spam bots. However the plugin did eventualy managed to corrupt all of the htaccess and my sites were returning internal server errors. I had to clear htacces by hand for each site and resave all other plugins that are using htaccess. Took me few hours to do this. I’ve also had to disable this plugin until the author fixes the issue.

Yesterday in some way my .htaccess was been under attack and the code is changed.
The hakers were semalt.com and others similar spam site.
Can you improve the security process of the plugin?

Hi,
Is there a way to add more sites manually within the plugin? For example, I started to get spam referral traffic from site4.free-share-buttons.com and was just wondering if I could add that to the blocked list. Somewhere to submit these spammers would be great also so you can add them to the list.
Thanks,
Recep
