Wonderful plugin! 259 spam domains were automatically found and blocked.

This works much better than trying to maintain and update my own filter list in Google Analytics.

There needs to be a way for users to add domains to the list of blocked domains.

Wait for 7 days then check your Referrers for that time people. Spam will be gone for that 7 days.
This is to say the old bad Referrers don’t go away. But new ones are blocked as they should be.
EDIT***
Lowered my rating. Regardless of how good or bad the plug-in may be, these developers insist on putting big beg notices on the Admin page. This is a rookie marketing error on their part. I have deleted the plug-in to get rid of their trash. Analytics Spam Blocker continued to beg for a review (even though I reviewed it before), and this is it. I think your Admin page noitces doom you to failure.

This is a great plugin that has really helped me ensure that my GA stats are real. I’ve recently started blogging, and I was really excited to see my pageviews go way up in one day, until I realized it was almost all fake. ?? As soon as I installed Analytics Spam Blocker, my stats went back to normal. The plugin was easy to install and I had no issues.

Works fairly well, but it needs some improvements. Modern Referral spam bots often use ‘look alike characters’ in domain names, characters from non-western alphabets resembling western characters.
The function to report a spam domain however tells that the ‘domain name is not valid’.
Like for example ?.com…

I found it completely useless in getting rid of www1.free-share-buttons.top

After the new developer Arnan de Gans took over this plugin it works great, you can add spam domains to a listing and they will be updated in the plugin. So it has become more interactive for users, I like that.

I saw a dramatic drop in referral spam after using this plugin, the alternative of adding Google Analytics filters every time a new spam referrer pops up is a frustrating game of ‘Wack-a-mole’. Thanks Luke!

So since we have started using this plugin, I can say, YES it works… It DOES remove nasty from your analytics results.
HOWEVER
Since we have started using this plugin, I have had 3 of my sites experience a .htaccess injection
One of the sites the .htaccess was shoved up to 1.5mb several times.. and the other ended up in a porn redirect attack..
I HOPE it was not this plugin, but when I disabled the plugin as part of a multi step cleaning process the injections SEEMED to stop.. I will keep trying it on a site i don’t really care about to see how it goes, and if that site seems to get hijacked.

This extension add lines in .htaccess randomly.
Occurs that some of this lines are cut in two, and are badly recognized by server. At the end, it produces error 500 when trying to reach my web site.
I’m disappointed because it seems that the plugin worked well, but now it’s just a complication for me.
I have to disable and remove it.
[Edit 30/06/2015]
The plugin now works very well, it blocks correctly spammers. I don’t put 5 stars because it would be HIGHLY appreciable to personnalize the list of blocked sites. Thanks for taking account of my comments !

Edit: 4 years since writing the original review this plugin is still a must have for every site I own. Great work on maintaining this plugin!
