Website crash, error 500

I hate to leave negative comments but hopefully, the creators of this one can find their flaws and correct them. This plugin has been silently living on my blog for years. I forgot it was even there. I’m no web developer or anything so I neglected to test the comments feature occasionally and simply thought I was just an unknown blog. Today I found that my link was shared on a forum and comments were left on there saying they tried commenting in 2019 but their comment never posted. So, I tested it today and sure enough, it didn’t work.
I’ve gone through my plugins and it never started working until I deleted Titan. I will now go and find an alternative security method for my website.

Estamos contentos con este plugin gratuito y que nos evita los mensajes de spam en nuestro peque?o blog. Gracias!

I was annoyed when the little Anti-spam plugin became a giant security behemoth. But on an uncomplicated site, the anti-spam function still works invisibly, and I don’t notice change in the way it works or the speed of the site. For my purpose, which is purely filtering spam, the free version continues to work flawlessly; I ignore the rest of the functions. If it does what I want and causes no trouble, it deserves five stars—even though I grumbled at the apparent bloat.

Titan scanned every line of code of every file which to my knwoledge isn’t something that Wordfence or Sucuri does. And Titan did it for free. How entitled do you have to be to complain about a plugin adding useful features better than its competitors’?
No, I’m not affiliated with Titan in any way. But I do run a business that has done just that: add new products. Unbelievable how closed-minded and resistant to change people can be.
@titan: Ignore the haters and keep up the good work. Please manually remove known false positives from your scans e.g. eVal from Wordfence files which I also have installed.

My Wp dashboard crashed after today’s update. Unable to open until I disabled it using Filezilla.

I only wanted a lightweight anti-spam plugin, it was my go to plugin and did a great job. What I have now, and not my informed choice as the plugin was updated, is a bloated mess.
I host many WordPress sites and will be uninstalling from them all.

So, this used to be my goto anti spam plugin.
IT IS NO LONGER THE SAME PLUGIN
latest update has replaced what was a good plugin with something very different. This actually represents a huge problem that WordPress will need to address. What if you use a small plugin that does one very useful task. Something very simple even. Someone can “buy” that plugin from the original creator and replace it with whatever they like during an update. In this case a lightweight well behaved anti spam plugin is now a huge bloated security suite that shouts at you in admin. I would never have considered installing this, but it crept in the back door.
This new untested plugin, will then show larger numbers of users (which previously was one of the metrics I used for judging a plugins usefulness, but will be very cautious of going forward) and ride on the back of it’s predecessor.
This is what has happened here.

Plug-In added by WordPress without authorization. Installation failed and am now unable to delete application.

So, they took our Lovely antispam plugin and turned it into another bloated, worthless plugin. All it does is advertise and use up server space. Uninstalled it on all my sites.

Can’t uninstall from the dashboard, requires sending data to 3rd party for the survey. Good that I have wp-cli or You can use FTP to uninstall.
NOT WORTH anymore.

It is WRONG WRONG WRONG to change the nature of a plugin so significantly so that it is a different plugin.
I already have web application firewall (Wordfence) installed on my site and I do not need or want another. All I wanted was a plugin that deals with spam. I especially do not want two WAFs running side by side which can break or slow down a site drastically.
What you should have done is released another plugin and promoted it as having the anti-spam feature included along with more features so that anyone who wants those other features can swap the plugins but those who want only the anti-spam features can keep the anti-spam plugin.

This was a straightforward anti-spam plugin for years – then a new developer buys it and turns it into a bloated mess. Uninstalling everywhere we had it. Such a shame.

This plugin used to be superb and worked flawlessly. After an update, almost all the installed plugins became invisible and so was the Anti-Spam plugin so I had no way to remove it! Even outstanding other plugin updates could no longer be done.
Via FTP I managed to delete the Anti Spam plugin folder and got everything working again.
On top of these issues, the plugin changed its concept 1000%, now being a full suite rather than the simple, trouble-free plugin that it once was.
NO LONGER RECOMMENDED!!!

from a no-brainer must-have to a never-install in 1 update.
It can’t even be removed anymore from the plugins page! Must remove via FTP.
Avoid at all cost.

It used to be a great plugin, best in its category.
Now the plugin do totally different things, and of course they urge you to pay the subscription plan.

This is not the plugin I have had installed. Different developer, different functionality.
A couple of months ago a company took over the simple Anti-Spam plugin. In so doing they inherit all the good ratings it had. Now they have replaced it with their own plug-in that does lots of different things.
Different developer, different plug-in, dodgy practices but the excellent rating from something and someone else.
Want to trust your web site to such dodgy practices? I’m damned if I will. Uninstalling…

It’s not nice when you just log-in to your site and see a brand “new” plugins installed, with not just the brand changed, but the plugins scope. And when you’ll uninstall it, you have no option to do it without marking one feedback option. Really bad changes.

This new version is a shit! I switched to: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/honeypot-antispam/

Dumb to re-brand Anti-Spam. I deleted Titan from several sites, before I realized that is was actually Anti-Spam. Thought there was a hack. If you wanted to create a security suite, start fresh with a new plugin.

I tried the free version of this with the intention of upgrading to the Pro version. Within hours of having it installed I was getting unsolicited emails through my contact form.
I will try another hopefully with better results

Same as what latest reviews are saying, it was installed for a unique purpose and was perfect for that, now I see version 7 added a lot of unwanted features. Fortunatly mine didn’t auto-updated and I don’t know how long it will stay like that but I will look for an alternative just in case 6.5.4 suddenly go away.

El plugin ha perdido su esencia…

What happened?
It went from doing one thing well to a bloated kitchen sink of nothing good.
And it auto-upgraded to this.
And it doesn’t deactivate from console.
Ugh.

This is my honest review of this plugin. Please do not remove my review again. Someone deleted this the first time but I guess if it happens again I’ll just post a few blog posts about it on my blogs and post videos on youtube instead because I think people should know what kind of scam bait and switch this plugin is. I’m not looking for support because I have deleted the plugins from all my sites and clients sites that got broken because of its latest major update.
I’m leaving this bad review because the last major update was basically a brand new plugin and should have been submitted to WordPress as a brand new plugin. It broke my settings for other security plugins I had because this plugin’s author decided to add a bunch of new options.
I had used the older one for many years and thought nothing of doing an update since it has literally not ever changed till now and was very lightweight plugin but now it has gone the route of other security plugins and decided to add lot of things that we did not need since we already had security plugins but plugin author didn’t think about how this might cause problems with sites that already had those.
Anyways, best to avoid this plugin – never know what else might be snuck into this in the future.

It was very clean and simple, it was working pretty well…
Now has become a Circus, with menus appearing everywhere in Admin,
looks full of disabled features that nobody ask or want from a simple antispam plugin!
Now i have to uninstall it from a hundred website and replace with another simple antispam plugin, what a shame…

I’m using the original Anti-Spam plugin right from the first year of my blogging in 2013. I can’t really count on how many sites I’ve installed this plugin including our own network of sites and clients one. Now I need to think of finding a replacement on all those sites.
I can understand you’re making premium and offering more features. Though it may attract new users, existing users will be highly disappointed. Because everyone might be using some other security plugin, in my case, I’ve ithemes premium on all my sites. I don’t have an intention to move away from them.
Thus, it raises the question, why there is an need of second security plugin for the site? Even if I plan to remove ithemes and keep Titan security alone, it doesn’t offer the complete features of what ithemes offers even in free version!
The BEST way is to bring the old standalone anti-spam plugin and keep Titan security as separate one. Anyway, wishing the best for your new product.

Why do every paid plugin author think that users want “kitchen sink” garbage? Also, how about releasing a new plugin and try to earn that rep and money, instead of doing a fishy thing of “updating” a plugin with a years of good reputation, so it will be recommended for everyone? Just for that you get 1 star from me. Was good to know you Anti-spam. Move on.

This is not the plugin I originally installed.
Would not trust a security plugin that uses bait and switch tactics.
Nobody should use this plugin at all.
Rating: 1 star
Why add all the bloat? Anti-Spam was a plugin that did one thing and did it very well. Now it has a bunch of features that may or may not work (the file scan froze when I attempted to run it, and remained frozen when I tried to stop it).
But beyond that, what you have done with this so-called update is pretty scammy. Really, you have added so many “features” that isn’t so much an update as it is a new plugin. The years of five star reviews applied to the original product (Anti-Spam), NOT to the new bloatware (Titan…) that you have created. And it was the original product that was downloaded 200,000 times, NOT the new bloatware. Yet somehow you have managed to apply those ratings and stats to the new bloatware. Very misleading.
It will be interesting to see how the rating changes from the time of this “update.” (April 2020)
