I recently encountered an issue with the Open Currency Converter by Joe Hawes plugin. When activated, it broke my website’s layout, setting a fixed max width of 700px on all pages and causing some CSS to break as well. I suspect that the plugin may no longer be compatible with the latest version of Elementor, as this issue occurred after a recent update.
For now, I’ve deactivated the plugin to prevent further display issues on the site. Could you kindly provide assistance in fixing this problem or confirm if there are any compatibility issues?
I use the plugin specifically for our pricing page and rely on it for the Currency Exchange Converter feature, so I hope to resolve this promptly.
Thank you for your help!

]]>Hello,
I’ve seen a new developpe has taken in charge this great plugin so I would love to ask for a very important feature : could you remove or make it possible to change the thousands indicator.
For example two thousands dollars is displayed like this : $2,000 and for some people like me and my readers, it’s very confusing.
Would you consider remove it or make it changeable ? A point for example would be better.
Thanks for your feedback?
Samuel

]]>I’ve taken the difficult decision to no longer develop this plugin. It will receive critical updates (such as security problems) but nothing more. This plugin has been tested up to WordPress 6.4 and PHP 7.4, and this won’t change as a result.
During December 2024, I will have the plugin removed from the directory. In the meantime, I would strongly recommend looking for an alternative plugin to switch over to.
If you’re a developer, and would like to adopt this plugin, please get in touch with me.
]]>Hello,
I got an alert from Open Exchange Rates that I had almost used up my free quota. I noticed that since September 19, the daily API requests went up from 5 per day to 35 per day (This is not necessarily related to any plugin updates). My exchange rate cache was set to 60 minutes, meaning there should be no more than 24 API calls per day.
I have a javascript from end function that converts the displayed currency using this plugin. However, it uses the get_conversion function and doesn’t talk directly with Open Exchange Rates.
How is it possible that this plugin makes more calls to Open Exchange Rates than what is set in the plugin settings? I have now set the Exchange Rates Cache to expire after 120 minutes which should mean 12 requests per day, yet it goes over 12 according to the Open Exchange Rates API Usage dashboard.
]]>Hello,
I am getting along very nicely with this plugin. I’m now interested in playing around with the global variables, in an attempt to make a currency switcher button for the website.
How do the global variables work if I would like to convert all prices on a page? Do I have provide the logic, or is that provided by the plugin? I can’t determine from the description:
The variables are
global_convert_from
andglobal_convert_to
.This is useful if, say, you have multiple versions of the site in different languages – you can then assign these global variables depending on which site is being viewed and all currency will be converted based upon these settings.
These will only override the options screen and not specific parameters specified with a shortcode or function call.
Does this mean the global variables ONLY define a default from / to currency, in case from /to is omitted in a conversion operation?
I am writing all code in php, so trying to understand in which scenario I should use the global variables and what difference they make.
Hello,
First of all, I’d like to express my gratitude for creating such a useful plugin. However, I seem to have encountered a slight issue which I believe requires your expertise.
I’m currently using the shortcode [convert number=50 from=”usd” to=”try”] within a different Woocommerce plugin. Under normal circumstances, this shortcode efficiently converts the American Dollar to the target currency and displays the result correctly. However, when attempting to use this shortcode within a different Woocommerce plugin, I’m facing an unexpected error when the total price of the product surpasses 1000 Turkish Liras.
The problem lies in the fact that when the value exceeds 1000 Turkish Liras, the conversion result is displayed as either 1 or another nonsensical number. In order to diagnose the underlying cause of this behavior, I’ve taken various steps. For instance, I’ve tried downgrading the PHP version from 8.0 to 7.4, but the issue persists.
I kindly request your assistance in shedding light on the mechanism behind the conversion process within your plugin and explaining potential scenarios that could lead to such a conversion error for values above 1000. Additionally, any suggestions you may have for resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
To provide a better understanding of my problem, I’m including an example of the shortcode I’m attempting to use:[convert number=50 from="usd" to="try"]
I eagerly await your guidance on this matter. Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards,
]]>Hello, can this plugin convert something other than a manually specified number, such as the order total? I would do this via php.
]]>Hello, I am using this plugin with the block editor. I have a shortcode block with the following shortcode:
[convert number=140.0 from=”czk” to=”eur”]
This works fine, but what if I want to have the output in bold, aligned to center? The shortcode block doesn’t allow any formatting. Is it possible to combine it somehow with other blocks? I guess I would be able to do it in the classic editor, but I seem to have no clue here. Thank you.
Is the plugin compatible with php 8 (or 7.4)?
]]>Hi everyone,
You’ll notice that not a lot has happened with this plugin for a while, despite a long list of issues and feature requests in Github. The reality is, I just don’t have the time.
So, I’ve decided to concentrate my time and efforts on just certain plugins within my portfolio – not necessarily those that are the most popular but those that “spark joy”, to quote Marie Kondo. Basically, those that I enjoy working on.
Sadly, this plugin didn’t make the cut.
What does this mean? Well, it’s not going away for a start. Instead, it’s going to enter a hibernation mode, only waking from its slumber when needed. When is that?
1. Important security changes
2. Major bugs
And that’s it*. It won’t even be updated for WordPress compatibility, as I won’t spend any time testing it when a new release comes out.
In due course I’ll update the README to reflect all of the above and even add a dismissible admin messages too for those who won’t necessarily see that either.
If you’d like to take over this plugin, and have plugin development experience, then please reach out to me on the WordPress Slack – I’m user @dartiss
.
*obvs, I reserve the right to do something above and beyond this if I feel the urge
]]>Hi.
Is it possible to add another free exchange rates provider?

Hi there,
Greetings. I appreciate the good work in your theme. I like everything about it but however, I don’t seem to get something right.
I installed the plugin, activated it and registered for the API but on the frontpage, there’s no button displayed for visitors who may want to convert or switch to their desired currency. For example, the shop displays the product in Naira (NGN) and I want to switch to USD, how can I achieve this, please? Because the plugin doesn’t seem to work on my shop’s frontpage.
Any help will really be appreciated, thanks.
]]>Hi there!
Great plugin! Shortcode use with fiat currencies works well when injecting into something like a paragraph but when I try to use something like “eth” it doesn’t work. Using wordpress plugin, how can I enable the show alternatives? There is no visible route in wordpress visual UI.
I was under the impression ETH was supported in base types now without needing to use the special settings after 2018? Curious if could implement that into plugin settings?
Thank you and keep up the great work!
]]>Hi, is it possible to not show the thousand seperator in the outcome?

Dear support
I want to add the converted currency on each property page which has different pricing. There are over 600 property pages which will take lot of time to individually add the shortcode. The current pricing is in AED (UAE Dhiram) which I want to convert to USD.
Is there any way I can just put the shortcode on each page and auto fetch the amount in AED from the price field and convert to USD in new field or content page?
Thank you for the awesome plugin & I would highly appreciate your help!
]]>Here’s an idea: In order to make this phrase “evergreen,
“…equivalent to more than $700,000 in 2021.”
I would need a plugin that would query an “inflation calculator” data base to update the dollar figure. I already have one that will update the year.
Perhaps you might be interested in adding such a feature to your plugin? Or… this could be the function of an entirely new plugin.
Thank you,
Howard
Hello is it possible to use our own Courses with the API ?

]]>Good day to you.
I would like to perform Currency Conversion for BOTH BTC and ETH on my pages. BTC conversion is going well – but ETH is not in the list of currencies.
Can you please add Ethereum (ETH) as another cryptocurrency in your list?

Adding Ethereum (ETH) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I wanna to add 7 more currencies to my site can you help me with that ?
In my scripts I was not checking for 0 values and it triggered some PHP Warnings.
PHP Warning: Division by zero in /convert-currency.php on line 137
I added an check in my code but maybe an check could be added to the plugin too?
]]>Hi there!
Is there a way to round the result to nearest 10?
For example 3951.509591 -> 3950
I saw there is an option to show 3591, but 3590 would be smoother.
Not a smart solution, but even if i could just replace the last number with Zero, that could also work for me.
