Starting today, January 12, 2018, the official Authy plugin for WordPress is deprecated.
See link for more information https://authy.com/blog/deprecating-authy-wordpress/.
Basically nothing works the way it is supposed to. Bugs at every step. I need someone to help me work through these.
1. I enter my phone number for my main user and click save, but then the same form would just appear again. No matter how many times I clicked Save, I could not get past this form. I saw this bug reported like 4 years ago. It was claimed to have been fixed. Apparently not.
2. I then went to a second WordPress user and tried to activate authy. It gave me an error message: “Error: This email is already in use. Please choose another.”
3. I note that every time I tried reinstalling the plugin, there was still an old auth token stored in a settings field. So uninstalling the plugin doesn’t truly uninstall everything. Don’t know if that is a factor.
4. Also tried deleting my Twilio account and making a new one. Didn’t help.
5. I also note that the codes for Twilio and WordPress Authy Plugin in my Authy app on my phone and on my desktop respectively are NOT the same. All my other authy accounts are in sync between my phone and my desktop. But the Twilio account and Authy WordPress account have completely different codes generated on the phone versus the desktop.
6. I noted that the distinct codes on my phone and on my desktop BOTH worked when trying to log into my Twilio account, with two-factor enabled. Not sure if this is a good thing…
7. Uninstalling Authy plugin in WordPress did not delete the Authy token on my devices.
So in short, lots of bugs. Very frustrating. Please someone help.

Hi,
Does Authy for WP support xmlrpc? In other words, what happens if you try to publish using Open Live Writer? Does it let it through, i.e. it doesn’t support Authy and everything works, or it makes all xmlrpc queries fail? If the latter, is there a way to make them work somehow?
Thanks.
]]>When I hit “Enter Token Manually” on the wp-admin page for my website and then enter the token provided by Authy it never works, it just reloads the admin login page to enter the login details again and then repeats. If I do “OneTouch” however and just hit “Accept” in the Authy app then it works.
I have been having this problem for 6 months and message Twilio Support but they just gav me the run-around for 2 months then stopped responding for the past 4 months. This is absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. How can this issue be fixed?
]]>This is a feature request for the Authy mobile app.
It would be nice to be able to edit the account name after it’s already been set. In my case, I was setting up Authy for multiple accounts and realized later that I didn’t customize the account name during the setup process. So now the account names are all displaying the same name.
Here’s a screenshot to clarify: https://www.evernote.com/l/AAcewHhcpVtGVoiIbYRUP6LLJM2xttLcnJc
]]>I’ve created an authy account and set up the plugin on a self hosted WordPress site. When I try and enable 2FA it won’t let me change the default country and phone number in the user setting. When I enter and press “update user” it goes back to the default and the phone number input is empty again.
]]>Can we please turn this off? Thank you.
]]>Hi there,
I’ve just implemented Authy TFA on my WordPress site, but there was an issue with the one touch portion of the plugin. When I tried to sign in I was getting a JS error because jQuery wasn’t loaded when your authy-onetouch.js file was trying to use it. This is because jQuery is being loaded with defer=”defer” attribute and authy-onetouch.js is not. This can easily be fixed by adding defer=”defer” to the script tag that loads authy-onetouch.js. I’ve made submitted a pull request to github to fix this, so could you please accept it? At the moment I’m having to use a modified version of the plugin otherwise I was not able to get into my site.
Also, if I opt to enter the code rather than use one touch I get a 502 Bad Gateway Error. What’s causing this?
Thanks.
]]>Hi,
I wanted to use two factor phone call authentication not sms is that possible with authy in wordpress.
Hi, how do we theme the authy authentication page so that it’ll look like our site?
]]>Hi there,
Thanks for the plugin and indeed the Authy service – I use it daily!
We use Shield WordPress Security for many of the sites we work on and I’ve recently integrated Authy into one of these sites too. Authy works great, and Shield works great… but unfortunately, not together.
Basically, after logging in successfully with Authy, Shield can’t see the successful login and sends the user back to the login screen.
I contacted the author of the Shield plugin to see whether the problem was on his end, and he asked whether the Authy plugin was calling the wp_login
action. I’ve done a quick text search through the lib/
of the plugin and can’t see this action being called. I can see you’re filtering the authenticate
hook; I’m not entirely sure whether this flow negates the need to call that action or not.
Is it possible to configure the Authy plugin to support Shield? This will allow us to use both these plugins side-by-side on more sites in the future.
Thanks in advance!
]]>Sometimes the sms notification from authy delivered, but not infrequently also sms is not sent. The authy wp login should be added “send code again” I think.
]]>Is there a way to make Authy work for WP Multisite?
If not, maybe the next version will be better if it were added.
Using Authy WP plugin v 3.0.1. on all our websites.
These are all pretty simple standard WordPress websites where we use purchased popular themes.
Authy’s WordPress plugin works fine with all the themes we use, except the most popular wordpress theme in the world: Avada!
Each time we try to use authy’s WP plugin on a website built with Avada:
– the settings-tab can be completed normally: The Authy Production API Key is recognised and the link is made with our account. No problem. All fine.
– but when we want to enable Authy for the users on that website it goes all wrong!
The popup window appears, but it stays completely empty. The fields for country and telephone number do not appear. So we can’t enable Authy for the users.
Have tried disabling and re-enabling all plugins but it does not help.
And the problem appears only on all the websites built with Avada so it’s definitely related to that theme and not to plugins.
We have over 100 websites, More than 10 of them use the Avada theme.
Avada is by far the worlds most popular theme so i would assume you’d be interested in solving that issue…
Looking forward to your feedback.

]]>We love what Authy has to offer and would like to incorporate into our system. We have a nuanced approach for integration that I would like to describe :
We would like to force Authy MFA on signup and next login for existing users. We would like a one time MFA, as well as MFA on password reset.
For users that do not have a cell phone listed in their profile, we would like to force them to provide one from the front end.
Is this possible in whole or in part?

1. I cannot see the Enable Auhty option in user profile page, however it is present in wp-admin page.
2. If I enable authy for a user through wp-admin, users are not redirected to the authy token input page, instead they are being redirected to the homepage of my site (this does not happen for admin users though).
Please help.

]]>I copied my WPEngine hosted production site to staging then tested Authy on the staging site and it works fine with all plugins enabled.
Next I installed the plugin on my production site, activated it, entered the Authy Production API Key and enabled Authy on the user accounts. I have an Authy Starter account and WordPress application setup in my account. The problem is when I login and enter the iPhone App token it throws a “Error 502 Bad Gateway” page.
Login steps are:
1. https://www.mysite.com/wp-admin
2. Enter the user name and password at the WordPress login dialog.
3. Enter the Authy token at the next screen with the URL:
https://www.mysite.com/wp-login.php?wpe-login=mysite
4. I’m taken to the URL: https://www.mysite.com/wp-login.php with
an “Error 502 Bad Gateway” page from WPEngine.com
To get past the 502 error I have to disable the plugin by renaming the plugin directory via FTP and clear the web browser cache.
I’ve tried disabling other plugins with no luck. I have an SSL certificate and define(‘FORCE_SSL_ADMIN’, true); set in wp-config.php. The site uses WooThemes Canvas v5.8.1.
Authy is known to work on WPEngine.
Thanks

]]>Hello,
When a user signs in with an Authy token, he is redirected to an error 404 page. Is it possible to set the page users should be redirected to? (There is a profile page).

]]>Hello,
I installed this plugin on my website. The plugin shows up in the backend, and I can set everything up in the backend profile pages. But the 2 Factor Authentication plugin doesn’t show up in the frontend. Even when I activate this plugin in the backend, it doesn’t work when logging in.
The reason for this is because I have a custom login/registration/profile plugin. The plugin is called UserPro. This is a link to the plugin’s website:
https://userproplugin.com/userpro/
My question is:
Could you help me with integrating this plugin with the UserPro plugin? I know this will require some customization, and I understand that you don’t need to help me with this unless I compensate you for it.
I hope to be hearing from you soon.

]]>Hello.
First, thanks for this plugin.
In the Authy plugin’s helpers.php file, the relative URL “wp-login.php” has been hard-coded into the Authy form tag’s “action” parameter.
Several WordPress security plugins enable a “hide backend” option that rewrites the “wp-login.php” URL to something of the administrator’s choosing. Thus, when a security plugin’s hidden backend option is configured, the Authy plugin’s form redirects users to a 404 page instead of the dashboard or other user-relevant page.
I have found that replacing the hardcoded form tag that includes the wp-login.php URL with the following code fixes the problem on one of my sites:
<form method="POST" id="authy" action="<?php echo wp_login_url(); ?>">
The above modification enables the Authy plugin to automatically populate the form tag’s “action” parameter with the correct wp-login URL for the site on which it is running, even if that URL is not the WordPress default URL.
Just thought you would want to know that this could be an issue when using the Authy plugin with other WordPress security plugins.
Thank you.

]]>Hi,
Recently I’ve been having a hard time authenticating because it would take more than 20 sec and key would expire, so I get locked out after 3 attempts. Any suggestions on what would cause this? I did update plugin to latest version.

]]>Hi,
I use Authy Two Factor Authentication plugin with Better WP Security one.
Better WP Security change the link of “wp-login.php” to something like “wp-login.php?xxxxxxxxx” and I defined a ban for 2 wrong login in 20 minutes.
When trying to connect to “wp-login?xxxxxxxxxx” I have an error message saying:
“ERROR : missing credentials”
The message appears only if Authy Two Factor is enabled and just by reaching the adress, I didn’t even try to enter login/password to connect.
If I try to connect, then I reach to the Authy token page and I may enter. Everything’s well.
But if I reach on the login page before 20 minutes, then Better WP Security automatically ban me.
It seems I need Authy to point the adress with “wp-login.php?xxxxxxxx” but don’t know where to modify it.
Any idea please ?
Thanks a lot
