This plugin has text domain issue so that its GlotPress project cannot be created completely.

I think the following modifications can fix this issue.

Add “Text Domain: automatic-domain-changer” to plugin’s header.

auto-domain-change.php, Line 59

load_plugin_textdomain('automatic-domain-changer', false, dirname( plugin_basename( __FILE__ ) ) . '/languages/');

Change wrong text domain “auto-domain-change” to correct one “automatic-domain-changer” for the following lines.

Line 128, 145, 185, 211, 216, 220, 221, 222,236, 241, 245, 249, 251, 254, 259, 332, 336, 378.

Chjanging from URL with subfoldr does not work

I successfully used this plugin to change site domain on migration from temporary domain to main domain.

Now I need to do migration form URL which is subdomain of main domain to main domain – move it from folder to root. It does not work.

Plugin acts like it has done its job but when I check urls, subdomain is still in urls.

Can this be fixed?

It does not work on WP Multi Sites, it does not change the domain in “wp_blogs” (or $PREFIX_blogs).

Also the wp-config.php file needs to be updated:

define('DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', $NEW_DOMAIN); // IF this is the new domain - detect

Add these last steps and your plugin will be complete! Thank you//

Error when changing domain

sometimes it will error when changing domain, I can track it down to a record and it SEEMS The issue is related to properly escaping the string before re-saving it luckily the record is usually something I can delete which solves the issue. Can you please add code that ensures any strings that need escaping are being handled? I see a function called esc_sql but it might be missing some items.

This plugin’s “Requires at least” is below 4.6. so you need to set a Text Domain in auto-domain-change.php, and it needs to be automatic-domain-changer to internationalize your plugin correctly! Please take a look at this official article.
This plugin’s Requires at least (3.0) is below 4.6, so a load_plugin_textdomain is needed. Please make sure you load it at a certain point in your plugin. Please take a look at this official article.
The above 2 points maybe make this plugin’s GlotPress project incomplete.

I know this plugin is not abandoned as you stated 4 months ago in response to “Lordsnake”

But he does have a point. the plugin pages says
This plugin hasn’t been tested with the latest 3 major releases of WordPress. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.

And it is losing favor in WordPress because of it.

I really like this plugin as it is much better the on the only other alternative “Velvet Blues Update URLs”

the links on your WP page go to 404’s on the NuageLab page such as:

Even if you just update a txt file it let WP know it is good to go that would be great.

If I was looking today I would skip over this plugin but I know it is a good tool.

Please help keep this alive.
If there were a link I would donate too. I could see a few improvements in the code but it is still the best

Domain Change Troubles

I used the plug in to change my domain name from https://www.4x4nearandfar.com to https://www.4x4allrover.com – but it doesn’t look like it worked. My WP site is hosted with Bluehost and I backed it up first. Now when I go to view it, I get a version of 4x4nearandfar that is just type, left aligned, no images or any graphics. The only thing I did different from the instructions was that I checked to change https as well. How can I fix this? I’m not an experienced coder. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Caroline

High server load

I used this plugin on several sites. Works great.

However, it produces high load on server when changing domain. For small sites it takes up short time so it is not a problem, but on bigger sites, this brings site and even server down.

On one site I ended up with error “User already has more than ‘max_user_connections’ active connections”.

It would be good it it relaxes server a bit, but making pauses between updates or even updating in batches.

It would be good also to have some replacement progress information.

Just changed my domain from mydearlola.com to marina-paul.com and now I can’t access any on my two webpages!!!

I just followed the pugin instructions which seem so easy. I wrote the new and old directions and let it work.

Now I can’t access any of them. When I try to check mydearlola.com it jumps to the new marina-paul.com, which is horrible and absolutely messed up with no kind of info.

When I click to update, it says: You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

Hello
I installed this plug in to change my domain however after I changed it, I wasn’t able to log in. I added a code into the wp-config.php as follows:
define(‘WP_HOME’, ‘https://the.address.and/path/of/your/site’);
define(‘WP_SITEURL’, ‘https://the.address.and/path/of/your/site’);
of course I put in my site path. That restored my website but no images and still not able to log in to the admin panel. So I inspected the site and noticed that the images are still being called from the domain name that I added when I used this plug-in. My questions is where do I go to find the html coding to change the path to the original?

Hi, I am desperate about domain migration in WP.
Please give me instruction of using this plug-in:
I have been in lots of troubles using other plug-ins and I don’t want to go that way again because I should pay penalty in that case. so please let me know where should I start and what result I should expect.

Love the plugin, and it works flawlessly for most sites.

However I’ve noticed that it breaks anything that has been created with the plugin “Global Content Blocks”. I’ve flagged this up with their developer and he says it’s a general WordPress issue.

Is there anything you can to either stop it working on GCB or to fix it specifically for that?

I ran the Automatic Domain Change plugin, and now I can’t log in to wordpress at all. I can’t access anything to change it back, I can’t access the phpadmin through my host at all as it doesn’t have that option, I have no idea how to access my page again. HELP!!!
