Please consider finding a way to make this work with frontend submissions (regardless of the type of frontend submission form). I tried creating a plugin that would use this plugin’s main function as posts are added to the database (using wp_insert_post) but that didn’t work for me. I also tested changing this plugin from using save_post to wp_insert_post but that had no effect.

The thumbnail used to generate, but it doesn’t anymore, not even when I embed the YouTube video as the first part of the post.

As of recent it seems to be creating 3 copies of the images instead of just one. Also I use the pressthis feature if that is helpful.

At the moment, image naming is hurting SEO of any blog that is using this plugin:
auto-draft-S-N-2zOIclI.jpg – this is the output that I’ve got.
There’s no way for me to know what this image is, by the look of the name, if I were to look at the files on my server.

Can we have an update with proper image naming ‘Post name’.jpg, and if exists ‘Post name-1’.jpg, 2.jpg etc,
Or even better, use Video Name to name the file. I know this won’t fit everyone need, but it is the best single naming scheme for SEO.

Love this useful plugin – thank you for creating it!

We have a small problem with some (but not all) of our YouTube videos not being pulled into the featured image area.

_is_video is randomly being set to either 1 or null. When it’s null, the featured image is not being generated, even though all our posts and videos are created in exactly the same way. (The admin area metabox display does not appear if it’s null.)

Do you have any suggestions as to what we can do next please?

Help, I can’t find the Settings for the Plugin in my WordPress Admin

What are the file names created when a post is made?

Is it the youtube default names for the .jpg’s or the post name?

And where can I find the settings for the plugin?

When i save the post it adds a file into the featured image section but shows as broken link. When I check the media folder the image that it is linking to does not exist? is this a permission error? i have checked my permissions and they seem to be correct.

Would there be a way for this to also work with self hosted videos?
If I upload a video to my website, that it could use that as a thumbnail as well?

Hello, I find this plugin very interesting but look like the last update since many years, is it still compatible with elementor 6? Without any security issue?

Instead of just looking at the Gutenberg for the YouTube link, could it grab it from and ACF video field?

Ideally I would like to have a client use only ACF.

This is my first website. I stopped posting new articles for several months and when I went back to it, I ran into the same issue I had before and I can’t remember what I did to fix it the last time.

I use this plugin so that the featured image can be pulled from the YouTube video. The problem is that the Featured Image appears on top of the video in the post itself. Also, a link to the YouTube video appears in the post grid.

I disabled the plugin, reposted the video, disabled the featured image in the post in the theme (Astra) settings (that worked but I lost the featured images in all of the other posts), etc. I also made sure to check the same settings as with the other video posts to no avail.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

This plugin looks great but I’m trying to figure out if we are legally able to use the thumbnail on our sites. Yeah I don’t want to use an image and then get sued. Does anyone have any information about the copyright permissions of using Youtube thumbnails? Thanks for your help!

Just installed the plugin on a WordPress 5.8.2 website, with elementor and an Astra theme.
I need it to work with my vimeo videos… but it doesn’t.
When I put a YouTube video just under the Vimeo video – it grabs the thumbnail from YouTube without a problem…
Could you fix it so it would work with Vimeo too?

Does your plugin support generating thumbnail from a locally hosted video? Thanks! If not is there a plugin I can use for this that you know of?

We found when we set a featured image and add a video, the video thumbnail image is still attached to the post.

Can we have not attached it to the post if an image is set as adding unneeded images to the media library.

I have custom field for video that allows me to insert custom video without using text editor? Can i plug it in and just call the meta key of the video i set? Thanks

I clicked the Bulk Add link to create automatic featured images from videos and it just keeps saying processing. When I check there are no new featured images being created. I can’t figure out what it is doing or how to turn it off. I deactivated the plugin and the processing of course stopped, but when I reactivate it, it keeps saying processing. How to fix?

I was trying to edit a comment, from within the admin panel > comments. When I attempt to save, I get an error. After checking the debug.log Apache error.log this is the error.

Whan I save a nav-menu (on wp-admin/nav-menus.php), I get error messages:

These error messages are repeated for every item in the menu.

The source of the error

It seems that the code is trying to use the $youtube_details and $vimeo_detail variables, but those aren’t defined since their definition occurs inside conditions that aren’t met:
if ( $youtube_id )
and
if ( $vimeo_id )

Suggested Solution

I’m actually surprised that this function, wds_check_if_content_contains_video, would run at all in the admin page of the nav-menus. But if it does have to run, then maybe a check for isset of those variable would be in place.

Such that line 137 would have the following code:

&& ( (isset($youtube_details) && $youtube_details) || ( $vimeo_details) )
