Perfect as it is: When themes/plugins are set to auto-update in plugin settings, all themes/plugins are respectively set to, individually immutable, auto-update enabled.
Good: When themes/plugins are set to not auto-update in plugin settings, all themes/plugins are set to, individually immutable, auto-updates disabled.
What is missing is that these settings should be tri-state, on, off, selected. The third option should do nothing, behave like this plugin was not installed in respect to either themes or plugins.
Not good: Emails now come in double, if emails are on. When off, the core emails are still sent.
A fine enhancement would be that this plugin could both turn on/off core emails, in case of failures and add debug info in case running development.
Translations are missing in core updates. This plugin could enhance the emails with this information, too.
Them this fine plugin could be back at top, now, when core offers individual selections, as Advanced Automatic Updates.
Personally I have no interest in going through all plugins and all themes, at all sites I manage, to enable automatic updates, and revisit for each new installation.
I need a default. I need this plugin! Keep up he good work on it and let it stay at top.

I have gone through the core documentation (as much as I could find) and there are zero references to “Update History” or just the word “History” The plugin should have something somewhere that shows what updates have been done and the results. But I can’t find it.
If this exists you need to some kind of documentation where I can view this information.

]]>The deprecation everyone keeps talking about (the only thing that seems to make it not compliant with PHP 7) is an easy fix. Something you can do within seconds, in case the author never does this.
Find in (rootplugindir)\admin.php “<?php screen_icon( ‘tools’ ); ?>” and remove that line. All it did was display an icon image (at least it used to when it was deprecated a while back). That’s it!
It should solve both deprecation flags/notices it was throwing off. ??

The AutoUpdate broke for 4.9.5 which was built into WordPress.
No worries right? This thing takes care of it?
NOPE! All sites have not updated to the latest, even tough the updater should not depend on the auto update function build into WordPress, it still does not update.
So I have to ask, what is the actual usefulness of this plugin if it does not update as expected? It the Plugin can ONLY update other plugins, then re-brand it as such and take the Major Version/Minor Version useless nonsense out as it just clearly DOES NOT DO WHAT is expected.
This is from a user that has been using since v3.7 of wordpress (the inception of the plugin)

I use a theme called udesign. Apparently it’s not part of the WordPress repository (or whatever it’s called), and I guess that’s why your plugin is not updating it along with all the other things. Is there anyway to get this theme to update automatically along with everything else?

At this moment, my WP site says I should update to 4.1.2.
Advanced Automatic Updates has not as yet updated WP to this version.
So I am curious as to when the plugin will do the update.
I looked thru your support issues and found:

The plugin uses WordPress’ built in update checks, which occur approximately every 12 hours.
Since my WP site is aware that it should be updated to 4.1.2, it has recently done an update check.
If the plugin uses the WP core update check, and this check has been performed, then the plugin should have updated the core to 4.1.2.
But it has not.
This security update fixes an issue where an anonymous user can take over the site. Since this issue has now been published, hackers are aware of the vulnerability and hence my site and I imagine many others, are vulnerable.
Since this is an important security update, I am wondering if I should do a manual update, or in general, let the plugin do it.
But I do not understand when the plugin will do it.
Please explain.

and some plugins but not all of them.
i e.g. use woocommerce with custom changes, so i want to exclude this plugin from autoupdating.
b) best practice: wait for x days after an update shows up and then update.
i normaly wait for 24h and when the plugin was not updated during this time i installed the update. This is more stable.

]]>Hi – great plug-in. I have been reliably using this for a long time over multiple sites.
I have noticed that Advanced Automatic Updates has recently stopped working for my 3 WP sites that have it installed (they do not share common configs/files/folders, but do share a common DB).
Any suggestions for where to start looking? The update to wp 4.1 is 3-4 days overdue, and there are multiple plug-ins for each site that haven’t been updated.
WP versions: 4.0.1 (this was the last successful auto update).
AAU versions: 1.0.2
I have the following options active (ticked):
