I inherited a client’s website that uses this plugin. It has several big issues:
– Using a child theme broke the plugin code. It looks for page.php in the main theme, not the child theme. The visitor who returns to confirm a subscription sees an ugly PHP debug dump. I worked around this needless and dumb error by copying page.php to the child theme. That’s a landmine if one upgrades a web site’s theme.
– The confirmation page that is displayed mangles the URL of a PDF file that my client wants to deliver to the visitor. It prepends the domain name again in front of the URL. So the visitor doesn’t get the thing they signed up for. Thanks! ??
– Also, the confirmation page is one shot. The visitor HAS to get the information they need off of it at the time that they confirm, because using the confirmation link a second time returns an error message that says – notify the administrator.
Maybe these issues can be worked around with settings in the plugin but together they put a bad taste in my mouth for this plugin. Too much wasted time for something that isn’t even standard like Mailchimp.
