Hi,
I, David Anderson, am the author of some of the code found in lib/bcloud.php
in the plugin.
This file in your plugin currently credits only Donovan Sch?nknecht for authorship; however, it also contains code that I am the author of, and which is found only in versions of the library which I released: versions which included a copyright header crediting me.
For an example, see the method __getSignatureV4()
in that file. Donovan never released any version containing any method with this name; this method was developed by my UpdraftPlus team. Your version of this method has some changes, but follows an identical procedure, with similarities that could never arise except by directly using our code to create yours:
Mine (find this in any version from recent years of UpdraftPlus, in the file includes/S3.php
), with precisely the same code comment (and see the identical code comments on preceding lines too), same spacing conventions, variable names, in the same order, clearly demonstrating the code’s origin:
// Make Signature
$kSecret = 'AWS4' . $this->__secretKey;
$kDate = hash_hmac('sha256', $amzDateStamp, $kSecret, true);
$kRegion = hash_hmac('sha256', $region, $kDate, true);
$kService = hash_hmac('sha256', $service, $kRegion, true);
$kSigning = hash_hmac('sha256', 'aws4_request', $kService, true);
$signature = hash_hmac('sha256', $stringToSignStr, $kSigning);
Your version:
// Make Signature
$kSecret = 'AWS4' . self::$__secretKey;
$kDate = hash_hmac('sha256', $amzDateStamp, $kSecret, true);
$kRegion = hash_hmac('sha256', $region, $kDate, true);
$kService = hash_hmac('sha256', $service, $kRegion, true);
$kSigning = hash_hmac('sha256', 'aws4_request', $kService, true);
$signature = hash_hmac('sha256', $stringToSignStr, $kSigning);
Open source principles both allow and encourage you to re-use code. It’s a good thing. I’m happy if more people are benefiting from my code. However, it’s also required by the licences (and by WordPress plugin directory rules) to properly credit people whose code you use; and removing copyright notices is bad practice. Possibly you forked the version in WPVivid after they removed my credit, and before they added it back (see: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/please-restore-copyright-attribution-for-my-open-source-code/ ).
Thank you,
David
Hi
I would like to ask some help to fix the issue that Backuply is stuck at creating a job (17%)
It is aa new install and never made any backup yet with the plugin So I really wonder why it is not working
I excluded some folders and some database tables but I assume that should not be an issue?
Hi.
I have taken backup with backuply and downloaded the zip file locally on my computer. If the server crashes is it possible to restore my website on a new server using only the zip file from Backuply? Or must I have a backup of my wordPress site in advance on the new server?
With other words: Can I install a new version of WordPress and install Backuply and just upload the zip file and restore the site like that? Or must I upload the files from the zip file and import sql files from the zip file?
Hello,
The plugin was creating backups correctly, but since the website was migrated to another server, it has stopped making backups and restores.
The plugin is updated to version 1.3.2, but the issue also occurred with version 1.2.4.
The old backups made before the migration are shown in the backup history.
On the server, I have the following parameters:
In Tools > Site Health, I have 3 errors:
1 – The REST API encountered an error
The REST API is one way that WordPress and other applications communicate with the server. For example, the block editor screen relies on the REST API to display and save your posts and pages.
When testing the REST API, an error was encountered:
2 – Your site could not complete a loopback request
Loopback requests are used to run scheduled events and are also used by the built-in editors for themes and plugins to verify code stability.
The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
Error: cURL error 6: Could not resolve host: https://mywebsite.pt (http_request_failed)
3 – A scheduled event has failed
The scheduled event, action_scheduler_run_queue, failed to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended.
Note: The website address was changed to mywebsite.pt just to illustrate the problem here.
The website migration was done by manually replacing the wp-content folder and importing the database via the cPanel terminal because Backuply wouldn’t progress past 10%.
What could be the issue? Something related to DNS?
]]>Hello !

Each time I run Backuply on a website I manage; it creates a file called “error_log” that contains the following record :

What is it, shall I worry and is there anything I can do to fix the issue?
Thank you,

Hello!
I’m having an issue with cloning my site. I want to set up a clone so that I’m not doing development on a live site.
First I tried the FTP method. I literally copy-pasted the path. Nothing shows up in the list of backups, I tried hitting “sync backups”. I tried the google drive method, nothing shows up either. I tried uploading the file (it is 4GB) and it gets stuck at 31%, tried it several times. What do I do?
Hello,
I just tried to create and save a backup to Google Drive and it failed. Error given said I had an invalid API token. Been using for 3 months w/o issue and nothing has change on my end with Google security. I then tried to create a new “Backup Location” using Google Drive and it failed to create a new token. This tells me the issue is on your end. I also noticed your website was down for a bit as well.
Could you please let me know when the issue has been resolved?
Thank you

This is a wonderful plugin. I backed up the database to gdrive and it worked smoothly, I downloaded the database locally and tried to re-build the database after removing tables from the backup, but for every SQL query it gave an error and could not create any table.
Any solution to this?

How does it really work with multisite? I did not see any specific multisite control in the network admin area.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

I have tried to do a back up and got the notification that it was successful and complete.
This can not be correct though because it states 19MB because a back up taken a few days ago was 600MB
I am concerned that had I not noticed and then restored at a future date I would have not restored a full back up.
Have you any ideas why it stated it was complete at 19MB
Thanks

Hi
I have just updated to version 1.1.0 and attempted a back up.
My previous back up was taken a few days ago and was 468MB in size
I have tried four times and twice it stated completed successfully but was only 18MB in size which can not be correct and a little worrying had I not noticed, and twice it got stuck at 65%
Any help appreciated
Kind regards
Ian

That is why it stuck.
]]>Hello,
It is stucked at 65%, but I noted that the storage of Disk Usage was increased, would you please let us know where is the directory stored on server?
Our disk usage is 80 GB, and the total storage is 160GB, here is a question before go Pro:
How it will move the backup file to the cloud storage? it will move all backup files only after completing the backup on the local server? or it will move backup files step by step?
The reason is why I ask this question, is that I just wonder if 160GB is enough for backup migration if it will move all backup files to cloud only completing all of the backup process.
Thanks

I checked the tutorial at https://backuply.com/docs/how-to/how-to-migrate-a-wordpress-site/

Hi
I have been using this with no issues however today I need to do an upgrade so wanted to take a back up.
It only gets to 17% showing

I have tried killing the process but each time it gets to the same point.
Any ideas why this might be?
Thanks

Hi,
The plugin gets stuck at 50% when backing up using Google drive. Nothing else happens after 30min. I click stop and kill the process.
Where can I look to see why there is no progress? Where is the debug log in? I didn’t see any errors just that nothing happens after 50% progress (according the progress bar).
My files are probably over 2GB. I am doing a full website backup with db.
Thanks.
