I’m trying to delete extra files on my hosting and theres a big folder named “backupwordpress.” Does anyone know if thats the name of the folder this plugin creates? Its from 2016 so I’m pretty sure it’s safe to delete but wanted to ask. Thanks for any feedback.

]]>Hello.
I see that the plugin has not been updated in a long time.
Can I find out whether the plugin will be updated further and whether there are plans to support it in the future?
Thank you.
Hi.
i will only inform you, that your plugin has some deprecated warnings in the log files in PHP 8.1.9:
Return type of HM\BackUpWordPress\CleanUpIterator::accept() should either be compatible with FilterIterator::accept(): bool, or the #[\ReturnTypeWillChange] attribute should be used to temporarily suppress the notice
– wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/classes/class-path.php:456
strpos(): Passing null to parameter #1 ($haystack) of type string is deprecated
str_replace(): Passing null to parameter #3 ($subject) of type array|string is deprecated
I inadvertently deleted both the daily and the weekly backup options in Tools. I now only have Manual Backup as an option. There must be a way to restore the. At least I hope so.
I actually tried deleting the BackUpWordPress plugin, then reinstalled it. The reinstalled plugin was also missing the daily and weekly backup options.
Can I get them back and how?
]]>I wondered what level of compression the zip files currently use, and if it’s possible to increase the amount of compression?
Thanks for the great plugin!
In many shared hosting environments the PHP function disk_free_space() is disabled. Therefore functions/interface.php:496 thus contains the construct
function disk_space_low( $backup_size = false ) {
$disk_space = @disk_free_space( Path::get_path() );
if ( ! $disk_space ) {
return false;
}
[…]
Under PHP <= 7 the “@” in @disk_free_space( Path::get_path() );
causes disk_space_low() to return False whenever disk_free_space() is not available.
With PHP 8.0 the behavior of “@” however has changed https://www.php.net/manual/en/language.operators.errorcontrol.php#112900
For me this makes the WordPress admin panel inaccessible when BackupWordpress is installed and the PHP version of the web server is set to PHP 8.0.25 because I get the error:
An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 498 of the file /home/www/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/functions/interface.php. With PHP 7.4.33 everything works normally.
Would be great to get this fixed! Thanks!
]]>PHP could not find a file, but it seems to work anyway.
]]>Hello,
I have 5 websites that have worked just fine with this plugin for a long time doing both the files + database backup at the same time. Then suddenly it stopped working for my https://www.leavethedetailstome.com website. Last successful backup was June 28th.
Troubleshooting performed:
1) I deactivated it and logged out of WP and logged back in and it still doesn’t work. 2) I let it run for almost 48 hours and still never completed.
3) I also tried manual updates using “run now” and also tried letting it go according to its schedule.
4) I tried backing up just the files and it never completes.
5) I tried backing up just the database and that does work.
Any thoughts why it would stop working on one site and not for the others?
All sites are: WP V. 6.0.1, all using Divi theme, and all BUWP Plugins V. 3.13.
Thank you,
Tiffany
]]>CLient realized months had gone by since last back up and the wheel was spinning in dashboard.
I removed the plug in and removed old backups stored on server and then reinstalled.
I watched via FTP as back up began and could see the file growing in size.
Sure enough it completed and the file was available for me to download, via ftp.
But if I look at the wordpress dashboard it doesn’t show as complete and the wheel is still spinning.
I’m psyched the back ups are working but confused that the plug in itself doesn’t seem to know. Any ideas?

]]>I’ve been getting errors like this for some time:
php: ZipArchive::close(): Renaming temporary file failed: No such file or directory, /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/backupwordpress/classes/backup/class-backup-engine-file-zip-archive.php, 46
along with numerous iterations of:
zip warning: No such file or directory
But the backups seemed to work OK (tho occasionally fail to complete) so I haven’t paid it much attention. However… now I’m also getting:
Mysqldump: mysqldump: Got error: 1286: “Unknown storage engine ‘InnoDB'” when using LOCK TABLES
IMysqldump: SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1286 Unknown storage engine ‘InnoDB’
When I went looking in the database, I found that, while most tables use MylSAM, two WordFence tables use InnoDB. Both engines are supported by the database server, the site works fine, and WordFence seems to be happy, so I assume this is OK and it’s just that WordFence needs some of the myriad additional config features in InnoDB. But why is BackUpWordPress having a problem with it?
I also found that the error messages above are embedded in the database dump. Is that a problem — am I going to find that these backups are not actually fully functional if I try to restore them? I just tried restoring one to a blank database and it looks OK. Weirdly though, viewing a list of tables/engines, whether for the restore OR the current ‘live’ database (!), I sometimes (but not always) get a big list of errors…? (I can’t actually replicate that ATM, so can’t post an example.)
If anyone can throw any light on this (or reassurance if appropriate!) I’d be grateful. I’m not that database savvy, so all this took a while to pull together, and I’m not sure where to go with it next (other than going back to taking backups manually!) Maybe I’m old-fashioned, but I don’t like complicated backup/restore plugins, my ideal is a .tgz of the site files and another of the database… but this nice simple plugin is the nearest ‘automated’ equivalent, or was ’til it started throwing errors…
]]>Past this limit older backups will be deleted automatically. This schedule will store a maximum of 2 GB of backups.

]]>When configuring a complete backup, when I go into “Excludes”, under “Your Site” I see the top-level directory in my site. I chose to exclude the “Images” directory here.
What I did not know or expect was that this plugin would exclude ALL folders on the entire site that are named “Images”.
So later, when I needed to restore the site, it was a disaster. Every plugin that has an “images” directory in it was broken. Every theme was broken because all of the images were missing. I basically had to re-install everything from scratch, rendering the plugin mostly useless.
So it would be a really good fix, if someone excludes a directory, exclude THAT directory only, not all the directories with a similar name!!!
Thanks.
]]>Hello,
I always used to save 2 backups, but since the server reached its limits, I wanted to delete one.
Since then, the plugin hangs and no longer works. Unfortunately the usual things like uninstall and reinstall don’t work either, as soon as I reinstalled the plugin it hangs again. The error message is always “Old backups are being deleted…. Cancel”, but cancel button does not work.
Can someone help me please? I really like the plugin, it has always served me well so far and I would like to keep it.
Hello devs,
thank you for the great – and free! – plugin ??
Just on question: when are you going to me it fully compatible with php8? That would make the plugin even better.
Have a great day!
Dom.
When I hit “run now” to make instant DB backup no files is generate or written and no error is displayed. I installed debug plugins but no errors is displayed.
Any hints?
