I backed up my site recently and have it safely downloaded to my local drive.
I am unable to restore it into a clean WordPress account.
I cant dismiss this notice:
“?Restore is Now Available in BackWPup Free!” and “BackWpUpDismiss How is your experience with BackWPup?”.
I cant make these messages dissapear on all my admin pages. This is a ridiculous fault for month now and no solution incoming. Please help immediately!
Hi,
I too am running WordPress under IONOS shared hosting and have also started receiving a similar error today, “ERROR: Allowed memory size of 117440512 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2994360 bytes)
“, only when backing up the database.
I’m running WordPress 6.7 under PHP 7.4 and, yes, I know that’s unsupported but we can’t update it yet due to the theme we’re running and a site redesign is in the pipeline at which point it’ll get zapped. But I digress.
Anyway, I’ve read both of the following topics:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/error-with-database-backup-memory-limit/
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/error-with-database-backup-memory-limit-2/
and having set the wp_memory_limit
first to 512M then 1024M, I was still getting the error, despite PHPinfo reporting that the limits appeared to be recognised and the wp_max_memory_limit
was set to -1.
So I took a tangental approach and examined the database tables. I discovered that the two biggest tables were wp_wffilechanges
and wp_wffilemods
, both owned by Wordfence. When I looked those up, I found this post:
https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/table-wp_wffilemods/
So I truncated both tables and the error disappeared.
Takeaway: If you have Wordfence installed, it may be the culprit inasmuch as it’s precipitating the problem and truncating those tables is a workaround, but it does look like there’s something weird going on with the memory handling in either IONOS’ shared hosting, PHP, WordPress or BackWPup, and experience leads me to want to put my money on the first one in the list. ??
Hello, recently my daily backup (scheduled at 05:00 am) produces many subsequent backups (5 to 10 each day) instead of just one as it is meant to be.
I have checked the setting several times with no success.
Any hint about that, please? Thank you.

]]>The plugin has been working fine for years, during other daylight savings time shifts, but when the time switch started this past Sunday, all my sites started created double backups, at 2am and 3am.

Any ideas what to look for if this keeps on doubling?
]]>Hello.
I started creating a website with WordPress on October 31st,
and I have enabled BackWPup for backup.
I have several other sites, and the backups are working fine.
However, for the new site I started creating a few days ago,
the logs show that it finished successfully from October 31st to today,
but there is no .sql in either the folder that backs up the database backup and the list of installed plugins, or in Dropbox.
When I downloaded the backup and checked the contents,
it only contained backwpup_readme.txt, manifest.json, and pluginlist.2024-??-??.txt, which also contains a list of other plugins.
The processing time for the folder is 0 seconds each time.
When I checked the contents of the Dropbox backup,
I found that it contained .sql without the database name.
For other sites, the backup contained .sql with the database name.
The settings are exactly the same as other sites, and the site themes and WordPress versions are all up to date.
How can I back it up properly?

Hello!
The log of my backup is displaying a lot (8000+ lines) of deprecation errors regarding the passing of null as a parameter. All notices are the same as the ones I’ve added as an example to this thread. This happens both with manual and scheduled backups.
I found this support thread where it was suggested to use PHP 8.1, but we’re already running PHP 8.1.30 and WordPress 6.6.2.
Is there a way to figure out what’s causing these notices and potentially fix it ourselves?
Thanks in advance!

When I try to restore on a different host, I receive the notification, “Please enter your decryption key to decrypt your backup.” and it asks for a decryption key. Below the decryption key form field and the submit button, in red it says “Extracted with errors. Please, see the log for more information.” My backup is not encrypted. I tried to download the log, but it was an empty .zip file. I am using BackWPup version 4.1.5 and WordPress Version 6.6.2.

]]>Hi, your restore_boot() function is called on just every load action in frontend, backend, ajax-calls. the simple session_start() line throws thousands of “session_start() will be ignored …” error log entries, if i try to start a session too in my coding.
Could you please wrap your session_start just in an if-condition?
if(session_status() === PHP_SESSION_NONE) {
session_start(); // phpcs:ignore
}
I do so on my session_start, but somehow your session_start is not recognized as an active session, when i do my call. so my own if condition does not work.
And by the way. Why is the function executed all the time. Isn’t it just necessary, if i want to do a backwpup restore?
(Without checking by myself, if correct) ChatGPT suggests something like this for your session_start:
if (is_admin() || (defined(‘DOING_AJAX’) && isset($_REQUEST[‘action’]) && $_REQUEST[‘action’] === ‘restore’)) {
if (session_status() !== PHP_SESSION_ACTIVE) {
session_start(); // phpcs:ignore
}
}

Can you help me with that? Where to find saved backups to delete it??

On many websites at different webhosters the scheduled backups stopped working. On all websites the last backup is from September 16th and the next backup is scheduled for January 1st 1970. See the screenshot. There aren’t any logs for failed backups. What’s the problem?
]]>I was trying to export my whole DB through terminal and found that when imported on new site, the S3 secret key was not being parsed/read on the S3 Jobs page and i got "The request signature we calculated does not match the signature you provided. Check your key and signing method."
error. Why is that?
For weeks now I’ve been having an issue with being able to backup to my Minio/S3 server. Every time, previously-working scripts now say:
[06-Oct-2024 18:34:37]?1. Trying to send backup file to S3 Service?…
[06-Oct-2024 18:34:37]?ERROR: Exception caught in Error: Call to undefined function GuzzleHttp\choose_handler()

[06-Oct-2024 18:34:39]?ERROR: Exception caught in Error: Call to undefined function GuzzleHttp\choose_handler()
[06-Oct-2024 18:34:41]?3. Trying to send backup file to S3 Service?…
[06-Oct-2024 18:34:41]?ERROR: Exception caught in Error: Call to undefined function GuzzleHttp\choose_handler()
[06-Oct-2024 18:34:43]?ERROR: Step aborted: too many attempts!
Happy to troubleshoot!
After the latest updates I have seen that the option to compress databases has disappeared.
]]>I appreciate your good work, I really do. However, the BackWPup dashboard messages can get a little bit annoying. In addition to that, sommetimes they will never dismiss without running manual database queries. This is not a major issue per se. But if you maintain customer sites remotely, you simply have no idea whether a message re-appears in the dashboard. So, you have to log-in to each and every customer site to check for a message. Which is quite time-cosuming.
Can we remotely dismiss these messages via wp-cli or a database query?
Thank you!
]]>Hi there,
Like as title. When i go to backup submenu and click on Download link a window open and wait appear… but get stuck here forever.
Download backup has never working since i use this plugin (4 year or so).
Backup is saved on local space, but same as if i have backup on s3.
