I wish to say a big “Thank you” for this plugin. Found it very useful for my project, but I need it to work on the latest wp release.
So, I rolled up my sleeves and do the job for myself. If someone else finds it useful, please, welcome to the club.
My idea was to update the plugin for comments moderation. Because of that, I have added the row action ‘Show comments by user’ and all row actions to the comment rows and woocommerce product reviews. Also, I needed some banning history. My solution is to add new CPT Banned History, and comments as banning activity logs.
I am a beginner in the WordPress world but hope that my ideas are well implemented.

Dear Support,

We’ve noticed a large amount of Apache warnings within the logs, specifically related to a section of code within the BAN users functions.php file.

The error is a follows:
AH01071: Got error ‘PHP message: PHP Notice: Trying to get property ‘ID’ of non-object in <relative path>/wp-content/plugins/ban-users/include/functions.php on line 106′

Could you please help update the plugin to rectify the issue.

I just installed your plugin and everything works great.

Anyway, I did a test and banned a already logged-in test-user. The test-user click elsewhere, it sent the user to the back-end admin login page. The banning works…

But, is it possible I can change the link and send the banned users to the front-end instead?

When I get a spam registration I try to add their IP address to the banned list in settings, but lately all the user’s ip addresses are the same, even my admin account! I cannot ban an IP address when it is linked to all users.

On my theme, when a users role changes to a custom role called nobueno I take care of some additional administrative tasks. When this role is added to the user, the user is removed from all buddypress groups and all roles except nobueno. I would like to ban the user without having to make this additional update on the user’s profile. Can I call the ban_user function from within my theme’s functions file? If so can you give an example?

Hi, I have just started to use your plugin and quite like it’s functionality.

Rather than icons, I just wanted text on the All Users List under the WordPress Admin. I’ve found the Accessibility Option -> “Optimise plugin for accessibility / screen readers (i.e. displays text links instead of icons)” will do this for me.

There’s just a minor display issue with it, it’s showing upon hovering a User Name:
Edit | Delete | View | | Ban User

There are two pipes between the “View” and “Ban User” text links. Is there an easy fix to remove one of the pipes?

I tested, banned the test user then unbanned it after, the test user try to log back in on the site, it DOESN’T recognize the user’s password anymore?

I even save changes the permalinks just in case, cached the admin site and even the browser. no luck?

Hey, I want the user posts to be draft when I ban a user.
For some reason I dosent work and the posts status stays publish.
What can be the issue?
I marked that I want the post will turn to draft when I ban a user in plugin settings.

When a user is banned, they are not logged out of the site, and can continue to post.

A suggestion for your plugin: include a config setting to set a new role on banning a user. This could default to “Subscriber”. On my site I have it set to a specific “Banned” role.

An appropriate hook would be sufficient.

This is a great idea for a plugin, and immeasurably useful if it worked as described. Banning a buddypress user works cleanly, however the user’s comments are still visible which on a social media network may well have been the reason for the ban…

If there’s an update which fixes this, or needs testing, please let us know.

Just wanted to ask if it is possible, even manually or in pro version, to unpublished users CPT posts when user is banned.
As well, I noticed that when I ban a user all hes posts can be converted to drafts. but I think it is not very good in SEO meaning. maybe it will be great if it will be possible to create a redirect to a custom page.

The plugin (v1.4.8) still permits banned Buddypress users to view each other’s profiles, the main activity feed contents, and banned user profiles are listed under /members. :\

Thank you for the nice plugin with useful options!

We noticed that the plugin’s size weighs in at 19+ mb, which seems quite heavy for its purpose. The bulk is the /lib/ subfolder, which contains complete, uncompressed copies of 3rd party scripts, including their source and examples. A few also seem to be duplicate. Can you please compress / minify them to reduce the overall weight of this plugin? Outside of this, everything looks and works great. Thank you!

You can BAN people of the same Role.

You have designated a “User Role” for BAN.
But I hope I can not BAN each other. Is it possible?
Users with the same “user role” should not impose sanctions on each other.

Also, if you have specified who is authorized to perform the BAN
The Super Administrator can not use BAN.
The Super Administrator wants to be able to use the BAN regardless of the privileges assigned.

I have 12,000 registered members. I cannot scroll through all that, so how to see a list of banned users please?

Thanks for making great plugin. I want to Include User Login and User Name in Email template. Currently, I can see only two template tags

Template TAGS:
Include tag %%reason%% to show reason for banning user.
Include tag %%unban_date%% to show date ban will be lifted (i.e. account reinstated).

Please let me know how to add user login and user name.

I wanna thank you for the updates you’ve been doing for this plugin. I was just wondering if you can add a feature that we can be able to display ban reason and ban lift date on the dialog box in front end of the website so that users know why they’re banned if they failed to receive email.
And also I think it’s better to display “Never” when using %%unban_date%% tag when the Admin didn’t set specific date. Thank you and sorry for my English.

After removal of text links, it is no longer accessible to screen readers. Please bring back text links or offer an option for doing so. Screen readers cannot read symbols if not done correctly.
