Hi, I’ve problem with elite press template …
It not displaying in comments answer section ??
With another themes works perfectly…
Hello, i’m using 4.2 version of wordpress. Cannot update cuz other reasons. Can i somehow active the plugin or is there another one like this. Thanks.
Dear author!
Please include in the next version of the plugin is the ability to translate the line
QTags.addButton('quote','quote','
','
','quote');
(basic-comment-quicktags/quicktags.js)
While we are forced to do so:
QTags.addButton('quote','Цитата','
','
','quote');
This, as you know, uncomfortable.
Thanks in advance.
In my website (https://deuxevades.com/) I hace already activated the seeting but it doesn’t appeared when I want to write a commentary.
Can you help me ?
Thanks

thanks for your plugin
I’m working on a bilingual site and would very much like to have additional 2 quicktags LTR and RTL that will allow comment users to write in correct direction.
I believe this is basic and would love to see it in your plugin.
thanks
Great plugin, I like it.
My only issue is that the quicktags appear vertically on my theme, and not horizontally. Is there any way to fix this with css? Also, would it be possible to remove the gray background from the quicktags?
My other question is would it be possible to add an image quicktag, so users can attach images hosted on other sites?
Thank you

I want to allow only those html quick tags in comment form, other tags will be disable.
How to do that?

Hi Mika,
First of all: this is a wonderful plugin. I am using it a couple of years now and it’s truly magnificent. Thank your for that.
I got one problem though… the quicktags are not shown to my guests. I checked my page source: there is not a single quicktags reference in any way to find. So no Javascript, no HTML: nothing. When I log in, however, I can see the buttons and the Javascript, so it works…
My question is: how is this possible?
I have to say: I upgraded to WordPress 4.4 (from 4.1). Has that anything to do with it?

Hi,
I’m still very happy with your plugin. I succeeded in adding a bar on a specific textarea. Just needed to ad an id (id=”posttext”) to the textarea. I have also been able to change the quick tag items easily in the quicktag.js file.
My question is : I can’t display more than one bar per page. Is there a solution to that ? How could I do that ? (maybe you will have some ideas)
Thanks !

Hi,
very nice plugin, I would like to know if this plugin should add these very nice quicktags on all textareas, or maybe on some textareas (maybe a next feature) ?
It shoud be nice to get these tags on a contact form, for example.
Bye !

The quicktag bar show fine when a user is logged in but not at all if they are not logged in on my site.
I switched themes to twenty twelve and there’s no difference. Is this how they are supposed to work or could it be a plugin causing the issue?
I am using Jetpack just for wpstats and subscriptions, and several other plugins like easy digital downloads, Super Cache, bbPress and Mashshare share buttons.

Tried with Jetpack comment module but doesn’t seem to integrate, is that correct?
Ar you using this for your own blog? But without Jetpack, isn’t it?
If this is the case, how then did you add both notification options at bottom?… and the smileys?
Yes, I know, too many questions for a single post… Sorry.

when editing the header.php file to put in the script and css links manually, the plugin still doesn’t work unless i kill the css behind P2. then the buttons show and work fine.
there’s probably too much going on in P2 to make it work as plugin.
i looked into adding your code to the theme directly … but there’s a lot going on in those files, i’d prefer a plugin.

Hi,
I get an error message on my home page that says:
Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /Library/WebServer/Documents/wordpress/wp-includes/comment-template.php on line 932
I located the error to your plugin and the function comments_open(), which you check in two places, one when you add CSS files and one when you add JavaScript files.
if ( comments_open() && is_singular() && ( $options['comments'] != '0') && !is_null($options['comments']) ) {
$this->add_styles();
}
if ( comments_open() && is_singular() && ( $options['comments'] != '0') && !is_null($options['comments']) ) {
$this->add_scripts();
}
I suspect that the error is caused because you are trying check for comments on the home page, which do not use comments in this case.
Here are some details that might be useful for you:
PHP 5.3.2
WordPress 3.7.1
BBPress 2.5.1
Thanks

Hey there, thanks for the plugin. I am new to all of this so please bear with me. Take this as an opportunity to educate the ignorant.
I’ve wondered how much of my theme’s css is used and how much of the plugin css is used… Here is the link to my comments form: SIM-Sample Post with Comment Form
Questions for you:
1. When I look at the source of my page, I cannot for the life of me see where the button bar is even added. Can you explain this to me?
I was looking at the source to figure out what classes were being used. On the one hand, the plugin’s CSS does seem to be used, as I was able to add css to my theme’s child-css to align the block of buttons to the right.
However, when I attempt to set margins around the buttons, whether the plugin’s css or my theme’s, nothing happens.
2. I would like to set the margin of the buttons so that they are spaced out from one another rather than how they currently appear — all in one block. How would you suggest I do this?
Thank you for your consideration.

Would it be possible to optionally disable loading quicktags.css on all pages? I’d rather add the styles to my main stylesheet.
I don’t mind adding a functions to my functions.php for that, in that case would you please provide instructions?
Again, thanks.

I’ve used and enjoyed this plugin for some time now. Today I noticed for the first time that quicktags is only showing on the comment boxes for my posts, and NOT on the comment boxes for my pages. Is there any way of fixing this so that, when comments are enabled for pages, the feature of quicktags may also come into play? Here is an example of a post (where quicktags works perfectly well). And here you can see a page (where quicktags is missing in action).

I’m using the latest versions of BuddyPress and bbPress. I installed your plugin activated both features in the Discussion Settings, but I can’t see the buttons in my current theme. It only displays the bar above the text field.
When I use the bbPress Twenty Ten theme, it does work. But I’m using the BuddyPress Default theme, and it’s doesn’t work with that.
Is there a file I need to edit?
Thanks in advance,
Raoul

Hi Mika,
I am back here again! ??
Heeding to your advise, I removed all the code that rewrites the URLs of static content on my website to another domain. Instead, like Joost suggested, I am using W3 Total Cache’s Generic Mirror CDN type to do the job.
Problem is, everything’s fine, except for two plugins whose JS and CSS files are still being served from the same domain as the one that serves WP. Basic Comment Quicktags is one. Any idea why?
Thanks!

The /wp-includes/css/editor.css
is 48KB in size and except for a few KB everything is useless. Not that the size is huge or anything, is there a reason why we shouldn’t get rid of it?
The plugin also uses its own CSS file (quicktags.css), and all we need to do is add this at the top of the CSS file (code below pulled from editor.css):
.quicktags-toolbar {
border-bottom: 1px solid #ccc;
-moz-border-radius: 3px;
-webkit-border-radius: 3px;
border-radius: 3px;
background-color: #e9e9e9;
background-image: -ms-linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);
background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);
background-image: -o-linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);
background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);
background-image: linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);
padding: 2px 8px 0;
min-height: 29px
}
.quicktags-toolbar>div {
padding: 2px 4px 0
}
.quicktags-toolbar input {
margin: 2px 1px 4px;
line-height: 18px;
display: inline-block;
min-width: 26px;
padding: 2px 4px;
font: 12px/18px Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif normal;
color: #464646;
border: 1px solid #c3c3c3;
-moz-border-radius: 3px;
-webkit-border-radius: 3px;
border-radius: 3px;
background-color: #eee;
background-image: -ms-linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff);
background-image: -moz-linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff);
background-image: -o-linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff);
background-image: -webkit-linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff);
background-image: linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff)
}
.quicktags-toolbar input:hover {
border-color: #aaa;
background: #ddd
}
.quicktags-toolbar input[value="link"] {
text-decoration: underline
}
.quicktags-toolbar input[value="del"] {
text-decoration: line-through
}
.quicktags-toolbar input[value="i"] {
font-style: italic
}
.quicktags-toolbar input[value="b"] {
font-weight: bold
}
Or minified:
.quicktags-toolbar{border-bottom:1px solid #ccc;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;border-radius:3px;background-color:#e9e9e9;background-image:-ms-linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);background-image:-moz-linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);background-image:-o-linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);background-image:-webkit-linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);background-image:linear-gradient(bottom,#ddd,#e9e9e9);padding:2px 8px 0;min-height:29px}.quicktags-toolbar>div{padding:2px 4px 0}.quicktags-toolbar input{margin:2px 1px 4px;line-height:18px;display:inline-block;min-width:26px;padding:2px 4px;font:12px/18px Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif normal;color:#464646;border:1px solid #c3c3c3;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;border-radius:3px;background-color:#eee;background-image:-ms-linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff);background-image:-moz-linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff);background-image:-o-linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff);background-image:-webkit-linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff);background-image:linear-gradient(bottom,#e3e3e3,#fff)}.quicktags-toolbar input:hover{border-color:#aaa;background:#ddd}.quicktags-toolbar input[value="link"]{text-decoration:underline}.quicktags-toolbar input[value="del"]{text-decoration:line-through}.quicktags-toolbar input[value="i"]{font-style:italic}.quicktags-toolbar input[value="b"]{font-weight:bold}
Consider this a question, and not a suggestion. Just wanted to know why.
PS: Another reason is that the CSS in editor.css is effing old. It doesn’t use border-radius
and -moz-border-radius
. I corrected these. And I don’t know what else is wrong. Please lets drop editor.css and use our own unless there’s a problem. ??

I am serving all my static content from a different domain, and am facing one small problem with the plugin (NOT a bug, just my problem).
The quicktags JS file (https://example.com/wp-includes/js/quicktags.js
) is being served from the same domain as my website. How can I have it served from a different domain, say, example2.com
?
I tried deregistering, then changing the src of the file, and enqueuing quicktags
, but that seems to be messing with the plugin.
It would be great if someone can provide me the function that allows me to properly change the URL of the quicktags core JS file.
