The topic https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/send-messages-are-not-working/ was set to Resolved but I am having simular problems and can not fix it with the suggestions given. De DM messages do not work with users with a ‘z’ in the name.

I installed the bbpress message plugin but when I try to send a message nothing happens.

Steps:
1. New Message
2. Search contact -> select recipient
3. Type message -> Send

The message does not get send. Im just presented with a message saying There are no chats to show. I checked the following table after sending the message and its also empty.
* wp_bbp_messages_2p0

The log file has the following warning,

i have a trouble when using this plugin : when i clic on send message link it brings me to an error 404 . Actually this error begun when i changed permalinks setting to “simple” (if not, i have the same problem with other bbpress links like topics created, replies etc …) . So how can i fix this without breaking the other links ?

First of all I want to say great plugin, so far, and one I was looking for.

When I view mobile version on my phone, I notice the Messages link doesn’t show in my primary menu, but shows in non-mobile view. Even on Desktop if I resize to where the hamburger menu activates, the messages link disappears.

Hi,
Can I restrict the users from sending messages to all users ?
Instead, I would like to allow the users to send to certain user ( group leaders )
but not user to user ( friend to friend ?)

We don’t want any outgoing emails from the messaging/chat/pm plugin.

What section(s) of the plugin code can we safely remove that function.

There is no button to NOT send an email.

Was trying this plugin out on my BBPress forum but it does not work ??

I can send an initial message to a user, but after that they cannot reply. I type my reply to the user, click send, and nothing happens, no reply is created, no notification, nothing.

e-mail notifications are kinda broken too, with garbled HTML, they say e.g:-

Though I have wondered whether it’s possible with this plugin to costumize the template files by just adding them to ones child theme in
wp-content/themes/my-child-theme/ ?

And if so – since I’m not that familiar with editing plugin template content via child themes: Would the directory-structure be
/wp-content/themes/my-child-theme/name-of-plugin/templates/path/to/file?

I would be really grateful to know if this is possible with this plugin since I do not have access to the server’s file system myself.

Hi I recently imported a database backup and of course with wordpress it fails to import all the indexes, keys and auto_increment fields.
So when I try and use messaging now it give me this error

Error: Could not successfully insert this message into the database

I maange to fix all my other databse indexes with help from this page

Hi,

I’m having trouble getting the messages to work like I believe they should. I have them displayed on the sidebar. However, whenever you click on one to view it, it looks like the pic below. I’m not sure if this is my theme or I’m doing something wrong.

It seems to look like the messages are in a summary post type page.

I can give you access to the site as it is a private site if I can email you a username and password.

I would appreciate any advice.

Dear sir, I found the Chinese zh_TW language translation is quite good (but all entries are pending since 6 months ago) so I tried to compile the lanaguage PO file my self https://prnt.sc/hcoocb . I have used PO editor to compile them to MO and uploaded to wp-content/languages/plugins with filename: bbp-messages-zh-TW.po and .mo
but the plugin still show in english (the site has been set to zh_TW and you can see the bbp translation is working) https://prnt.sc/hcooke

The Notification Email is not formating correctly see following:

It is sending the formatting tags as part of the email no matter what I try to stop it.

I have a message which has a [pending-delete] status in BB Press Messages. But I can’t find it in the admin dashboard to confirm the delete. Can anyone help?

I loved the bbP-Messages plug-in.

But we just discovered that when we have both bbP-Messages activated, in addition to the EasyDigitalDownloads (EDD) plug-ins (which are a necessity on our site), then EDD starts to produce file not found errors, when users are presented with a secured download link.

I’m not sure what the incompatibility could be. They seem completely unrelated.

Any chance you could possibly look into a resolution and maybe create an update that fixed the incompatibility with EDD?

Hi, I have the following issue. BBPM is not working. When I press Send message link near user’s avatar it redirects me to a blank page with a “Oops, page not found”. My site is in russian, so it’s a back translation (I mean “Oops, page not found”).

What code to check and were to digg?

I have installed a plugin “WP User Avatar”. So the users can upload their profile pic and do not have to use gravatar.

In bbp Messages sometimes the src is a gravatar url and only the alt-text is displayed.
In the meneu “Messages” the avatar is not showing in the header but in the chats.

Does anyone know how I can change the source of the avatars?
