I use this plugin to notify members of a forum of new content or replies. However, when I include the variable [reply-excerpt] in the email it results in the phrase “You are not allowed to view this content”.
This implies the recipient may never the see the content which I am sure is not intended. Instead I would either like it to include a short excerpt or say “you need to log in to see it”.
Is either of these possible?
I just installed this and would like to autosubscribe existing members for topic notifications. Is there a way to manually do this for them? Or do they need to go into the forums and subscribe individually?
Hi- I’m wondering if anyone knows if this plugin (either with add-on or without the add-on) allows a way so that a user receives a notification when someone replies specifically to the user’s reply within a topic. So, to clarify, I’m not referring to receiving notifications every time there’s any reply to a topic (I know that exists), but only sending a notification to a user when someone else has replied to that user’s specific reply in a topic. Thanks!
Since updating WordPress to the latest version and some other (seemingly unrelated) plugin updates BBPress notify is not sending notifications.
I have made no other changes. The email log shows shows other emails being sent (e.g. users changing passwords) but no notifications of new topics nor replies.
Any suggestions?
I have just installed bbpress-notify on a sandbox site to test if it will work as we need.
We’re after a tool to allow users to subscribe to daily or weekly digests of new posts in addition to or instead of being notified of new posts when they are created.
Although I’ve installed the plugin and activated it, and set the plugin settings in such a way as seems to make sense, I can’t see anywhere on the user profile pages where they can subscribe to forum digest emails, or having subscribed, specify their sending frequency.
In fact, for a logged in user, there appears to be no mention of BBPress-notify at all. I’m using Paid Memberships Pro, and Oxygen Page Builder in case that makes any difference….
Hi dears
Nice to writte you.
I hope you be great
I have a small situation in a forum: https://foro.ottoduarte.com/
It′s about emails.
When I as administrator reply to someone that person does not receive a email.
They receive emails in others situations that are ok. But this is very important, because it′s the reply to their question.
I have installed the plugins:
bbPress Notify (No-Spam): Do not have an option.
bbPress
bbp style pack
DIVI theme.
I hope someone have a solution for.
Thanks in advance ??
I have one forum user who from time to time does not get a notification of a new post in some threads. I have checked he is subscribed to that thread and checked the log and seen no notifications sent in the particular instances he quotes. There may be other users who are also not getting some notifications but maybe they have not noticed.
I also note that on the most recent example he told me of there were no notification emails in the log sent that day.
What should I be checking? Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
Hi ! I’m using the plugin and it works well, but I have an issue. It’s sending to much email in too short time so some emails are not sent when there’s a lot to send. I use FluentSMTP with amazon AWS subscription to send my emails and everything worked smoothly until now. When I use the option Background Notifications, the emails are just not sent at all. Can you help me with that ?
The log file in WP Mail SMTP is showing errors that are originating from bbpress notify: “429: Too Many Requests. Wait 10 seconds for another 100 attempts.” I am using a third party mailer (non-host provided) for these emails, and my understanding that this issue originates from a hosting limitation, but because I am using a third party mailer, it is not a limitation related to SMTP services, but rather the Cron job that is running to send out email notifications via bbpress notify to the 300 users on my site.
My question is whether there is a mechanism that people have used, either in bbpress notify, or through another plugin, to throttle the pace of emails being sent to eliminate this problem. This seems like it might be similar to the Bulk Mailer Add-On that bbpress notify has, but it only works with two mailing services that are rather pricy for the less than 5000 messages that I anticipate needing to send on a monthly basis.
Hi,
Since the latest update when users message on a forum post the page just loads and then times out. I spoke to my server provided and they said the following
looks like it was KILLED QUERY (147164 characters long generated in /wp-content/plugins/bbpress-notify-nospam/includes/controller/common_core.class.php:723 related to bbpress-notify-nospam plugin
The killed logs are showing the plugin at fault and taking an excessive amount of time to complete which is causing the 502 on the site.
I have had to deactivate the plugin for now in order for users to be able to post on forum topics.
Please can you look to resolve this so i can activate the plugin. I am using the plugin on my staging website, however this is version 2.17.6
Many thanks

not working. Both for new topics and replies.
Hey!
I’m trying to send out dry runs with the plugin. But the “Running test…” just keeps on spinning.
Image below on what it looks:
I have also noticed that when I click “Run Test” an Ajax error pops up. Image below which I think prevents it to send out the email.
I have read this post, which ultimately indicates that the plugin does what was being requested. Unfortunately, I can’t see how to achieve the result I thought was being described.
I am using bbPress Notify (No Spam) 2.17.6, with BBPress 2.6.9 and WordPress 6.0.2. The only bbpNNS configuration option I have set is to identify the intended notification recipients a ‘Keymaster’.
If I post a regular topic, I (the keymaster) am notified via email, which is fine, although not really what I am trying to achieve. If I post a topic that requires moderation, however, I see nothing until after I have approved the post.
What I want is an email notification when a topic requiring moderation is initially posted, advising me as the keymaster (in this case), that it requires moderation. I don’t really care about being notified after the post is approved, because I can see the approved post in the forum. But I can’t see anything to do with pending posts unless I Log into the administration section of my site, which I would not ordinarily do.
I also have the Check & Log Email plugin installed, so I can see what WordPress is doing with regard to sending email, as well as what is being received in my mailbox.
I figure that I must be missing something obvious here… Can someone tell me what that is?

Any idea why that might be occuring?
I have set up bbPns to send out notifications on new topics.
The Dry Run test shows that it is picking up the people I need to send the notification to and lists all the emails to be sent out.
However, in the live situation, it only sends out 1 email – to the first person on the list. The email logs show no other emails sent out.

I am also using a plugin called “Private Groups” to control members’ and visitors’ ability to view and post in our forums. I have verified a conflict between your Private Groups Bridge plugin and the Private Groups Plug. The problem is fully documented here –

I would appreciate it if you could work with the author of the “Private Groups” plugin to resolve the conflict.

The tag is correctly formatted in the default mail (see below) but is not clickable.
I tried to alter the email to use the “Insert/Edit Link” function (Ctrl-K) to format it into a clickable link.
Unfortunately, the link behind the text is formatted as follows:

Here’s the non-clickable version from the same email, formatted correctly:

Hi
I use the WP Mail SMTP free plugin too and I noticed it showed a couple of errors today. I examined the errors:
`Email Source: bbPress Notify (No-Spam)
Mailer: Other SMTP
The following From address failed: forum_admin [at] publictalksoftware.co.uk : MAIL FROM command failed,,0,SMTP server error: MAIL FROM command failedbbPress Notify (No-Spam)
…/wp-content/plugins/bbpress-notify-nospam/includes/controller/common_core.class.php (line: 1337)
The test email might have sent, but its deliverability should be improved.
Mailer: Other SMTP SMTP Error: data not accepted.`
I did try doing a test email with their plugin and it did actually go through. It seems to be working. Is there anything we can do to make sure everythign is OK?

Two small changes are necessary for the plugin to be compatible with PHP 8.

PHP Deprecated: Required parameter $type follows optional parameter $roles in /bbpress-notify-nospam/includes/controller/common_core.class.php on line 883
The parameter list just needs to be updated so that there are no required parameters after optional parameters.
Thanks,

Hi
I ran your plugin through PHP scanner for 7.3 and it reported:
=== bbPress Notify (No-Spam) ===
File: plugins/bbpress-notify-nospam/bbpress-notify-nospam.php
Since PHP 7.0, functions inspecting arguments, like debug_backtrace(), no longer report the original value as passed to a parameter, but will instead provide the current value. The parameter “$name” was used, and possibly changed (by reference), on line 304.
Does bbpnns plugin rely on the use of WordPress Heartbeat to run ANY part of the plugin? Perhaps the Background Notifications??
I ask becasue Siteground Optimizer suggests I let it control WP Heartbeat but I worry Background Notifications will be affected.
Please advise

Hi,
When people reveice th ememail with a notification of a new or adjusted post, the link to the topic is wrong.
In the settings it is defined as https://[topic-reply] but in the email the link is converted to https://https://link website.
If I delete the https:// before the code [topic-reply] it is automatically restored in the https://[topic-reply].
Where can I edit the link of the code [topic-reply] to fix the link in the emails.
Hi there,
So far have been very happy with this plugin. Thank you for adding this functionality to bbpress!
As of 25 June 2021, whenever a new topic was created, it would pop into the admin section and require a moderator to approve it. This is exactly what we want. After approving it, the post would then appear in forums and an email notification would be sent. The problem has arisen in the last week, starting with a new topic posted on 1 July 2021. This post appeared as usual as pending, however, an email was sent to all users BEFORE the topic was approved. We’ve just now approved it and the email was sent again.
No changes were made in the settings of the website at all during the week between the 25 June post and the 1 July post, so we’re not sure what would have made this new behavior occur. Any ideas?
Thanks!
Occaisionally a user will email me to say, “I posted a new Topic but it didn’t seem to go out to all users??” Then I, as ADMIN, will look into the Topics and, There it is awaiting Approval. So I “kick it out” and it goes to all as expected.
It IS possible that when that user TRIED to send his TOPIC, I, as ADMIN, may have been IN the backend doing some work OR even posting a Topic myself.. ??Could there be a conflict if ADMIN is in the backend doing work that could stop other functions from Functioning here?? We DO use BACKGROUND notifications.
And “‘Send Notification’ checkbox is checked “
Hi,

Hi
Thank you for an awesome plugin. It sends my forum mails perfectly. The only thing I can’t figure is how to show images correctly in the email body!
If I insert/attach an image it shows up on the website, but in the mail body I only get a placeholder image (https://langeintra.dk/wp-content/plugins/buddyboss-platform/bp-templates/bp-nouveau/images/placeholder.png). The real image is only linked as “data-src”:

Furthermore, above the image is a delete-link inside a div-class:

Delete

I guess the issue could relate to the way BuddyBoss does things, but maybe you or other have a solution?
Best regards
Torben
