Exactly what I needed. Used Contact Form 7, edited the white paper “goal,” and done. Thanks!

Had a little trouble with the free and pro versions right away, but the developers fixed it within a day, and it seems stable now.

I envy the people who managed to get this plugin working. After going through all the setup, it just didn’t do a thing for me.

Hi guys,
I think we should all appreciate the efforts these guys put in to provide us with free plugins and functionalities that we could use anytime.
Thanks

So after numerous tests this plugin simply DOES NOT WORK.
All seemed well after configuring and testing myself (site admin), when doing further testing with internal staff there were loads of issues where the goal (CF7) simply refreshed and didnt show the complete_goal (a video). We cleared caches, dumped all cookies and site data and got completely inconsistent results.
Clearing cookies as a user doesn’t reset the goal as suggested in the documentation. The authors have loads of documentation and guides on how to use this and it is essentially very easy to set up, but, and theres a big but, its a pain in the butt because it simply does not work.
None of the Page Protection features work and its clearly not fit for purpose when it comes to lead generation. What is the point in teasing people with a free version to possibly gain a $99 single site fee when it DO NOT WORK.
I’m not sure if i mentioned this but.. THIS PLUGIN DOES NOT WORK.
Thanks

I tested it on a website before implementing it, luckily I tried before because I discovered that it’s broken and even if you send the email also the email template it’s broken. Please fix it!

I am using it with CF7. It just work out of the box.

Haven’t really checked any of the other reviews to see what their issues are but we are using this in conjunction with Contact Form 7 and it basically works out of the box. There are some features we would like to see (conditions on goals being triggered only from specific pages for example) but we weren’t expecting that. We have used this to create a number of bits of gated content.

This would have been the exact plugin that we need, but unfortunately it doesn’t work at all. I’ve configured it, and double checked my settings. The content isn’t being restricted until the user fills out the form (like I have set it up).
Too bad!

I set a goal but it won’t trigger the following step

Currently redirecting to a thank-you page after form is filled out (contact form 7) results in endlessly redirecting users to the thank-you page. User has to manually clear out a 30-day cookie.
No sure what value I’d gain from this. The cookie is fine for ensuring users don’t have to fill out the form again, but having to clear the cookie to navigate the site is absurd. Also, lack of support/documentation for its features makes it difficult to give this plugin any more than 1 star. Create better walk-throughs and examples of your plugin so that those who use it don’t have to wait endlessly for the plugin authors to respond to an issue.
Added an issue to the plugin’s support and no response after 3 days.

I wanted to capture name and phone number before showing certain content. I selected a contact form from the “Before” drop down and in the ?fter” section, I selected “Show Text”.
What I liked most was – I was able to post shortcode in the text. Thanks a lot for this plugin. Helped me a lot!

Thank you for creating this plugin.
Its very simple to use and works perfect.
I was using a much more complicated setup before (Email before download, which is not available anymore) But Before and After is the allround solution, very nicely made.

I was looking for a plug-in for what we call “Gated Content”: The website visitor has to fill in a form with some personal information before he or she is able to download a PDF document. Since this is very common in B2B marketing I expected a wide range of plug-ins, but I found very few options.
The first plug-in I found was “Email Download Link”. It’s very efficient to set it up, and it sends a download link to the visitor by email, so the email address gets kind of verified. But it asks only for name and email which is too little information in the B2B environment where you need at least a company name and preferrably fields like department, position or phone number.
This is the big advantage of “Before And After”: Since it integrates with two very popular form plug-ins you can ask for any information you like.
The biggest disadvantage on the other hand is the fact that the download link is not encoded. If someone shares or publishes this link, then your content gate is useless. To avoid this you need to send the download document as an email attachment, but then you don’t need “Before And After” at all.
There are some usability issues in the backend as well, and the paid version is advertised quite obstrusively.

I didn’t see any options for the “before” option. This just seems like a ploy to get me to buy the paid version.
If you are downloading this just to collect an email, use any of the free or paid for email subscription services and just set a custom redirect URL to display the content.

I highly recommend this. The plug-in makers offer good, responsive support.

The plugin was easy to install, we had a few teething issues as it stood then with the instructions and it started to act weirdly when using a Page redirection for the “After”. It appeared after George from support got on the case that was just a little glitch they are fixing along with new instructions soon. (No need to had the [complete] shortcode to the landing/thank you completed goal page)
I must say I needed fast support for this project I am working on and George has totally saved me. He replied super promptly, nicely and fixed all there was to fix under a record time.
Thank you again.
A Happy customer ??

I am actively using this plugin on a client’s site to force users to fill out a form before downloading a file. The integration works seamlessly with our Contact 7 forms and the client is very happy with the result.

I haven’t found anything similar to this plugin so it’s a real shame it doesn’t work (with WP 3.8.1).
Sometimes, requiring a user to register with WP before gaining access to restricted content is overkill. This would be the perfect plugin to solve that problem.
Hopefully the developer(s) will realise they had something here that was kind of special and manage to fix it. (I’d happily pay for a working Pro version.)

Where to start, this plugin just wasted 2 hours of my time. The documentation is plain wrong. Just after digging through the code I found that the [completed_goal] tag is not even registered, it is [complete_goal].
Then the documentation on the ‘posted page’ is wrong, you will NEED to include a [goal] and [after] tag on the destination page or there will simply be nothing on there. You will need to wrap all the content you need hidden inside a [goal] and [after] tag.
The problem is that you will not need this plugin since the destination page will trigger the ‘goal complete’ anyway even if directly accessed. So unless the plugin is rewritten it is kind of worthless at the moment.

I am the author, but I really do think this is a great plugin. I wrote it because we needed a simple way to setup lead capture forms for our clients, and I’m very happy with the result!
I hope you find this plugin useful too. Please let me know if you have any feature requests!
