I installed it an immediately saw plug-ins that were not being supported by their authors by the listed versions under the plug-in names. It immediately helped me to know which plug-ins might be causing me issues now and which are likely to cause me issues in the near future – because they’re no longer being updated by their authors to the newer versions of WordPress.

Does what is says, displays the WordPress version compatibility for each plugin on your site. It’s easy to view the version info.
However, there are some instances when and older WordPress version is displayed, even though the plugin is compatible with the most current version of WordPress.
When you notice a plugin has an older WordPress version displayed, select the “View Details” option for each plugin to confirm the info with the repository.

Not accurate in a lot of cases, checks readme files, not WordPress Depository… What’s the point if the info cannot be trusted to be accurate…

Needs to have less bugs in Query Monitor plugin for me to be able to let it up all day, but it’s a must have plugin. No problem in letting it ON.

The version information provided by this plug-in does not always match the information you get from the repository. And even if a plug-in does not officially support your WordPress version it might still work fine. So use “Better Plugin Compatibility Control” with care and common sense.

This plugin saved me a lot of work!

I waited until just now to update from 4.4.3 to 4.5.2.
The reason I waited is because this plugin told me that 8 or 10 plugins were not up to date.
I decided to reach out to the devs and ask why their plugins weren’t updated. Come to find out, all but 1 had been updated to 4.5.2.
Don’t ask what the plugins were. I don’t know and at this point don’t care.
I also know I don’t trust this plugin.

Instead of to check manually what is the last release of WP that the plugin’s author had checked, they are already listed in plugin directory. Wonderful.
Only a thing can be better: if I can insert the WP release I want to install and the red colour appears in relation to that one instead of the present one.

Simple and nice ??

Thank you for such a much needed core feature. I like the way versions for lesser WP compatibility are highlighted and the compatible is faded..

This plugin does exactly what it claims to do.
Some might not be satisfied because it just gives the versions that the plugins page mention as compatible (compatibility info). It is true that the older plugins which were tested with earlier versions of WP might work with later WP versions too.
But think of this situation: If you have many plugins on a Multisite and come across a problem, this might actually help in identifying the culprit.
In fact, a few months ago, I had suggested this functionality be incorporated in WordPress itself.
Excellent Job!!
I suggest the author try converting this into a MU-Plugin.

This is a very useful plugin.
Obviously plugin developers don’t all update their plugins instantaneously for each WordPress release and some plugins don’t even require updating all that often, so “Better Plugin Compatibility Control” is limited in what it can tell you. The value of it is that it makes it easy to see which plugins are severely out of date, so you can do some research and see if you should be dumping them.

Don’t bother, plugins compatibility database is not updated at all. Tried this on my perfectly working site and everything was supposed to be out of date, according to this. Not really the plugin’s fault, but useless anyway.

The problem is that the plugin owners do not keep track nor update the compatibility of the plugins.
I wanted to upgrade from 3.7.1 to 3.8.
I looked at my plugin list and see that my perfectly compatible plugins (to 3.7.1) are compatible to versions: 3.1, 3.3.1, 3.5, 3.6
Can I upgrade to 3.8? This plugin did not help me.

Have consistently been able use use for 2 years to present without encountering functional or security issue.
I was also able to extend it finding it robust to add to; having a resilient base code from which to add on was “poetry in motion”.
My extended version added to the base code has been running without issue for 6+ months. ready to share it.
Extended version add’s under the “Deactivate | Edit | 2.8–3.6” two lines
– Address:https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/better-plugin-compatibility-control/
– Plugin Downloads= 13,828
Should the plugin have been removed by its author on www.ads-software.com, the download’s will be substituted with a red warning “WARNING This plugin no longer exists on www.ads-software.com !” replacing the line with the # of downloads.
Community: Please do express interest if you would like Oliver to to consider reviewing and adding my completed tested code into Mr. Schloebe’s base code.
With interest I and Mr. Schloebe can gauge the value of such an effort.
Thanks
Ed

This plugin is a great idea, in theory. However, it working correctly depends explicitly on all the other plugin developers, updating the compatibility version information in their plugin text file (which they rarely do).
