I started a Dry Run, and being 300 tables, went off to do other things…

When I came back to the page, there was no result, nothing, as if I had never run it.

So, I am burning more server resources to redo the Dry Run, and then, probably, again to actually do the thing.

Should the UX be better? Is there a timeout that the result goes away? Is there a log?

I continue to get the above error regardless of what I do. I decreased the Max Page Size to the minimum of 1000. I have enabled debugging and checked the server logs but the only messages I have are PHP Deprecated ones as I am running PHP 8.2. This is the only plugin installed on the site and the only theme is the active one. I have used the plugin countless times on other sites without any problems. The site is running WP 6.6.2. I am only trying to change an email address but have dry run checked.

I have checked the database for errors but there aren’t any. The site otherwise works. It is just BSR does not. I have tried random tables but they all result in the error. WP memory limit is set to 512M and the PHP memory limit is 1024M. I have full control over the server so I can change anything but there is something fundamentally wrong.

Please advise.

Hello, I usually use better search and replace to replace old urls with new urls. However, I recently started using Elementor plugin. A lot of my text is in the text description of the Elementor plugin. The urls within Elementor are not getting updated. Does Better Search and Replace work with Elementor? Any ideas?

I tried to use BSR in the usual manner, selected tables, put in search/replace data, and all that happens when I hit the Run Search/Replace button (dry run) is that I’m back where I started – no results, no report, nothing, blanks for search boxes.. The green progress indicator does run to its conclusion, but nothing happens. WP is up to date, as is BSR plug. Max page size settings (tried down to the 1000 minimum) have no effect, either.

I’m trying to change a word so it appears as all caps, but unfortunately this word us part of the website’s URL, so it changes the URL to all caps and therefore creates a lot of errors. For example, the font name is changed and therefore the custom font will not display.

How can I perform a search and replace for *only* page content?

An immediate error “An error occurred processing your request. Try decreasing the “Max Page Size”, or contact support.” occurs when trying to run any search and replace regardless of max page size.

But still the urls in the media liberatry attachments still not changed and woocommerce show urls on media liberatry attachments not from database!!!

How to change media liberary attachments urls?

I ran Better Search & Replace and changed words across everything… Now it many of my images under Media are not loading and the landing page (that is based on these images doesn’t load either.

Is there a way to get a log of what exactly was changed so that I can manually undo them?

I would like to use the BSR plug-in instead another. But unfortunately I got the error “decrease the max …”

I decreased the pages from 5000 to 2000 in the settings

The memory limit in WP config is already on 512 MB, which seems to be pretty high already.

Question: Is it necessary to put this even higher or can I do anything else to be able to use BSR?

I have a bi-lingual website, original language is English and translated is Italian.

Some of my products have translated URLs but their descriptions are in English (because I had duplicated them instead of manually translating every product).

Now I need to bulk replace some English sentences in my “translated” products (not in the original English products though).

Can I bulk search and replace English sentences only in the translated Italian version of the website and not in the English version?

Hi there, I love the plugin and have used it for years now.

One thing that would be REALLY useful is to have the option of selecting certain ‘favourite’ tables with one click.

For instance, when safely replacing text within page content only, I always select just the following 4 tables:

wp_links
wp_options
wp_posts
wp_postmeta

But I have to locate these in the list every single time, and must have spent hours on this step over the years!

Would it be possible to add a checkbox for “Favourite Tables”? Or some way for me to select just those above in a quick way?

Is there a way to replace entries from all URLs except for 1 specific blog post?

How about you tell us what the max file size is (not just the slider) before we start our search since the table size is listed there – you can tell us before we wait for the search.

Second thing is, maybe you could provide some insight as to what tables to try first – i need tables for pages and posts – not rev slider but at least the rev slider table is clear and makes sense.

I think I’m moving on to a dif search tool, at least to test, to see if i can’t get some answers and see some impact. While I’ve used this before, and you probably think it’s clear what to do, and while I do plenty of web dev, I do not a lot of db admin-ing, figuring out how to search against that table list, not conducive to affective time management for me. Espcially since I don’t know what tables are what.

THOUGHT: Maybe instead of listing out tables and letting us pick and capping the search size – you perform the search against all tables in the db – theeeeen you say “this is what we found, where we found it, the size of the search” THEEEEN you can say, ‘bc your search exceeds X you’ll need to upgrade to pro. (Upgrade right now and get 50% off – or some special to promote “BUY NOW” – instead of letting them leave to find another tool.) But i think this approach may not only reduce your tech support messages, but also, drive more business to you.

Just trying to help because I see a lot of support saying, “max this, max that, doesn’t work” when I’m sure it works, we’re just not using it correctly. Dumb it down for us non-backenders and offer advanced features on the backend pro version. This will also increase your demographic for the noobs and the pros.

I have tried to replace the new strings using the Better Search and Replace plugin in the Azure WordPress application. But it is not working. I unchecked the ‘Run as Dry Run’ option, and after that, I clicked on the Run Search button. It is showing the cells affect results only but not updating the records in the table. During the search/replace, 149 tables were searched, with 0 cells changed in 0 updates.

Hello, I have a problem with Case-Insensitive option of BSR. I tested both versions, 1.4.6 and 1.4.5 and it looks like new update contains an error with Case-Insensitive search and replace. I tested it out on multiple sites (with different themes, with(out) ACF, Elementor etc).

Example of testing:
I created a Production environment with a website template and staging environment with the same template and same setup as production. On production, I have BSR v1.4.6 and on staging, I deactivated v1.4.6 and installed & activated v.1.4.5

On production (BSR v1.4.6):
– Search term 1: getting 46 results found inside wp_postmeta (31) and wp_posts (15) tables
– Search term 2: getting 8 results found inside wp_postmeta (5) and wp_options (3) tables
– Search term 3: getting 39 results found inside wp_postmeta (26) and wp_posts (13) tables

On staging (BSR v1.4.5):
– Search term 1: getting 72 results found inside wp_postmeta (35), wp_posts (31), wp_gf_form_meta (1) and wp_rank_math_analytics_objects (5) tables
– Search term 2: getting 12 results found inside wp_postmeta (5), wp_options (4) and wp_usermeta (3) tables
– Search term 3: getting 47 results found inside wp_postmeta (28), wp_posts (17) and wp_rank_math_analytics_objects (2) tables

I tried with multiple sites/templates with the same testing method and results are similar.

All these searches were made with the “Case-Insensitive” option marked. If I try to search the same terms with uppercase letters, I am able to see the rest of the search results, but these are not showing with the “Case-Insensitive” option.

I tested to see if it’s up to some conflict with other plugins, but search results are the same on v1.4.6 even after deactivating any/all plugin(s).

Did anyone else notice the same? I’m using BSR quite a lot on a daily basis and I really hope this will be sorted out as soon as possible.

Hi, using Pro version, but for a month now or so, nothing happens when I run dry or any run on POSTS table, might be rleated to php 8.1 change but there are no errors in log, just nothing happens, it finishes “scanning”, page reloads and no data is shown or what was “demo changed”

We have about 2,000 hyperlinks (CTAs) that needs to be updated.

We tried all the suggested workaround in to update the URLs from adding backslash before the forward slash (\/) as we are using Elementor.

We also tried selecting all the table. Nothing is working as it should be.

It says on the report that it updated the URLs, however upon checking, the links are still the same.

We also waited 24-48 hours as it might take time to propagate. However, links are still the same.

Hello, I tried replacing a text with a link (in order to that some better internal linking because when creating pages I forgot to add link on some texts which is on lots of pages)

-while replacing a text with another text, it works fine
-but when replacing a text (I always chose specific part of text which is not anywhere else on site) with a link (so I type the html)
Replacing works, I saw the link but the page is broken….I can add screenshot if you want….(problem could be elementor related ?)

I then, to the task in reverse so that the page is not broken anymore

can you confirm me that replacing a text with a link is possible ?

My podcast player supports CTA icons like a download arrow and the universal share symbol but it doesn’t have anything for support or donate so I thought about using a heart. When I try to perform search and replace doing this Search: Support the Show Replace: ?? Support the Show it clears everything out and resets. Is there a way around this or is it fruital?

I used this plugin many times in the past and it was good. Now it’s not working on the 2 websites I need to migrate. It’s showing me “During the search/replace,?39?tables were searched, with?0?cells changed in?0?updates.”. But when I export database to SQL file, open it in the text editor and CTRL + F for “https://oldurl.com” I can find around 50k entries. Most of these in the postmeta table.
