Greetings Ajay
I have a Better Search facility on the right panel on every page of my website. I can use the +, – characters to do boolean searches. Using quotes to search on a field does not work as expected.
It searches for all the words not the phrase.
For example, the following works as expected.
+blood +pressure +dash
blood pressure dash
However, “blood pressure” does NOT search for the phrase but returns the results of pages that contain both “blood” and “pressure”.

]]>I would like to test this plugin with our website before committing to it. Is there a way to do this? Is there a shortcode I could use to test this search bar?
We’re currently using Ivory Search, but I don’t want to disable it until we know this search plugin is better.

I have been using Better Search for years. It is an essential tool for my website – wisenutritioncoaching.com.au. I do not know what the license key is or how to logon to my account. Could you please assist?

]]>Hi!
So far, Better Search has been great, results are fast and posts returned are much more relavant. I’m running into an issue with AJAX however.
After loading the first 10 posts on the search page, the user can load the next 10 posts by clicking a “Load More” button which hits queries a URL similar to: “https://urlhere.com/wp-json/wp/v2/posts?page=2&per_page=10&search=videos”. Instead of the next 10 posts, however, this endpoint returns an empty array.
After quite a bit of testing, I realized the “search” argument breaks the endpoint. During more tests, I noticed the route “/wp-json/wp/v2/search” works, but again, if you enter a search argument e.g. “../v2/search/?search=videos”, it breaks. Oddly enough, “../v2/search/?search=” works.
Disabling the Better Search plugin returns all endpoint functionality to normal.
Help please?
]]>First of all, ,I am using the Gutenberg block editor.
I loaded the Better Search plugin to my site. I can open the Better Search Dashboard from the menus at the left of the page. I see how to change options and view search history related items. I can’t figure out how to add the Better Search block to a page on my website. Thanks!
I get the following error thrown when enabling the meta search feature:
WordPress-Datenbank-Fehler:?[Not unique table/alias: 'bsq_meta']
SELECT DISTINCT (MATCH(wp_posts.post_title) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 10 ) + (MATCH(wp_posts.post_content) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 1 ) as score FROM wp_posts LEFT JOIN wp_postmeta AS bsq_meta ON (wp_posts.ID = bsq_meta.post_id) LEFT JOIN wp_postmeta AS bsq_meta ON (wp_posts.ID = bsq_meta.post_id) WHERE 1=1 AND ( wp_posts.post_date <= '2024-07-16 15:35:56' ) AND ((MATCH(wp_posts.post_title) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 10 ) + (MATCH(wp_posts.post_content) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 1 ) OR ( ((wp_posts.post_excerpt LIKE '%opera%') OR (bsq_meta.meta_value LIKE '%opera%')) ) ) AND (wp_posts.post_password = '') AND wp_posts.post_type IN ('post', 'page', 'video') AND ((wp_posts.post_status = 'publish' OR wp_posts.post_status = 'inherit')) ORDER BY score DESC LIMIT 0,1
this error gets displayed two times on the search page, then this error appears:
WordPress-Datenbank-Fehler:?[Not unique table/alias: ‘bsq_meta’]SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS DISTINCT wp_posts.*,wp_posts.ID as ID, (MATCH(wp_posts.post_title) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 10 ) + (MATCH(wp_posts.post_content) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 1 ) as score,wp_posts.ID as ID, (MATCH(wp_posts.post_title) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 10 ) + (MATCH(wp_posts.post_content) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 1 ) as score FROM wp_posts LEFT JOIN wp_postmeta AS bsq_meta ON (wp_posts.ID = bsq_meta.post_id) LEFT JOIN wp_postmeta AS bsq_meta ON (wp_posts.ID = bsq_meta.post_id) WHERE 1=1 AND ( wp_posts.post_date <= '2024-07-16 15:35:56' ) AND ((MATCH(wp_posts.post_title) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 10 ) + (MATCH(wp_posts.post_content) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 1 ) OR ( ((wp_posts.post_excerpt LIKE '%opera%') OR (bsq_meta.meta_value LIKE '%opera%')) ) ) AND (wp_posts.post_password = '') AND wp_posts.post_type IN ('post', 'page', 'video') AND ((wp_posts.post_status = 'publish' OR wp_posts.post_status = 'inherit')) ORDER BY (MATCH(wp_posts.post_title) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 10 ) + (MATCH(wp_posts.post_content) AGAINST ('opera' ) * 1 ) DESC LIMIT 0, 10
Also check settings and modified settings didnt works, clear backup cache search result cache in plugin option,
check screenshot https://ibb.co/hWTT684
After installing I didn’t get any results in my search, and realized that this plugin isn’t for me.
I usually build everything from scratch and only wanted the ability to include tags and categories as relevance for the posts.
Anyway. When I uninstall the plugin, I still don’t get any results in my search. It was working perfectly fine before installing the plugin.
Is there a way to completely uninstall the plugin and restore tables or whatnot to how it was before installation?
We’ve noticed that when we have caching enabled the plugin is causing critical errors when searching and you hit the cached results. If you don’t hit the cached results or have the option disabled everything works fine. The error message we are seeing is the following:
PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Attempt to assign property “score” on int in /var/web/staging/public_html/wp-content/plugins/better-search/includes/class-better-search.php:885
]]>Hello Developer,
First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to you. Your plugin is really useful for my project. But I have some problems while using “Better Search” plugin with another plugin.
I am trying to use the “Better Search” plugin with another plugin named “RS WP Books Showcase”. (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/rs-wp-books-showcase/)
After I activated “Better Search plugin,” the plugin seems to conflict with the search function of “RS WP Books Showcase,” as the search function of “RSWP Books Showcase” stopped working. (“Book Name” search function box)
So I would like some suggestions on the problem.
Would it be possible to fix this so both of my favorite plugins can work well together?
I would appreciate any kind of help and support.
Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,
]]>Hi
I really like the plugin! It would be possible in some version to include the results of the Tablepress tables in the search. Or is there a way to include them in the result? Thank you!
]]>Hi
It would be possible in future versions to be able to associate searches that do not have results and are popular in the search engine, offering the user a suggested answer that can help them, because I have observed that users who write with spelling errors or with some other additional word do not obtain results. The idea would be to be able to create a response for the user based on popular searches manually, or a personalized query or a URL. I really like the plugin. Thank you!
]]>Hello Developers!
I am a great fan of this plugin and i use it in about 2/3 yrs already, and i have a suggestion, (i don′t know if you guys ever think of this possibility or have it), to add autocomplete search suggestions?on the search engine.
In my case i miss this a little bit as I work with lots of articles and demand a big search and sometimes a single key-word doesn′t appear as the first choice.
Thanks for reading.

]]>Because I’m not sure, I title this as a question. I’ve noticed many query errors into the PHP log where there is references to the table alias “bsq_users”. I believe that this prefix “bsq” (Better Search Query?) belongs to this plugin so that’s why I’m posting it here. If it’s not the case, I apologize in advance for the misunderstanding.
The place where I’m seeing the errors are when saving any post. It’s not into the frontend but when operating into the admin board. And the errors says: “database error syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting $end for query“. So this sould be a bad builded query into the source code.
Kind regards,
]]>Database backup failed on site https://example.com. Error message: Table 'USER_wp_bsearch' doesn't exist
Hi Team,
Could you please advise if there’s a way to set a maximum search time before either returning the most relevant results (this would be ideal) or simply returning no results (this would be acceptable)? I’m running into an issue whereby if I search for a word that has NO results or TOO MANY results, the site keeps spinning and/or returns a 500 error. I’ve tried several different Settings permutations (including disabling/enabling the following: seamless integration, mySQL FULLTEXT, BOOLEAN mode, etc.), but no combination works. Is there a way for me to tell the plugin that after, say, 30 seconds of searching all post types, to just stop, and either return no results or just the ones that were far found so far (and simply stop searching the rest of the site)?
Thanks very much in advance!
With this plugin (version 3.3.0) enabled the autocomplete in the the link inserter (in the editor) doesn’t work as expected.
Example:
I want to add a link to a button. Normally I can start to type the the title or slug of the page I want to link to and it will show up as the first result.
With this plugin enabled I either get a limited number of non-relevant results (for instance only showing results from tags, instead of pages) or none at all with the search field stuck in loading.
It might be conflict with either block themes (using TT3 child theme) or with some other plugin, but disabling this plugin fixes the issue for now. I suspect that this plugin somehow overrides the default search in the autocomplete, and that this causes issues.
]]>Hi Ajay
I had version 3.2.1 installed and working fine. Upgraded to 3.3.0, and ran the database updater, and then all the archive pages (for categories and tags) showed no posts!
I have gone back to 3.2.1, so can’t show you. But I have a local copy I can try tests on. The theme is a child theme of Generatepress 3.3.1
Thanks,
Mark
Please refer to the release post for complete information about the update: https://webberzone.com/announcements/better-search-v3-3-0/
In particular, the Better Search database tables have been updated for more optimised mySQL queries. This requires you to login to your WordPress admin and run the upgrade script.
Please backup your database before you proceed with the upgrade. As part of the upgrade, the plugin will also backup the existing tables which can be restored if needed.

Hello,
About BETTERSEARCH
Great tool!
I just like to know how I can change the color of the button and text and if there is an option to enable/disable it.
I just rum elementor. Thema: Smartmag. Hardly any extra plugins.
]]>I’m using v3.2.2 – I’d like only the following results to display:
Currently, if a product has multiples images (for each product option) attached, each of those media photos show up in the search results.
I’d also like for media photos to show up in the search results ONLY if they are part of a jetpack gallery/carousel AND when you click on the photo, open it in the carousel/lightbox view, not directly as an attachment (.jpg)
Is this possible?

Hi Ajay!
In the admin list view of the searched keywords there is a date filter, but it does not appear to do anything to the list (see linked screenshot).
Makes it hard to find out what users have been searching for in different periods and compare periods with one another.
What am I doing wrong?
Best,
Simon
I’ve installed the Better Search plugin and placed the widget in the Sidebar of my blog (which is using the free basic Neve theme), but I cannot see any Search Box appearing in any of my blog posts.
Please HELP.
Thank you very much.

]]>it no longer loads some thumbnails that link to pages on the main page.
And if I search through the search bar and then open all the posts referring to any text, it turns yellow the title as if the formatting is missing and the image disappears, we couldn’t figure out why there was this bug and finally the problem was this plugin.
The following setting is supposed to stop any results from appearing from searches of words in the list. We have a long list of offensive words added. Yet when I search for one of them it still generates results. Anyone else have this problem. I’m mainly trying to stop spam searches from online casinos.
“Stop query on banned words filter?Modified from default setting
When activated, this option will return no results if the search query includes any of the words in the box above. If you have seamless mode off, Better Search will display an error message. With seamless mode on, this will give a Nothing found message. You can customize it by editing your theme.”
