Migration from Blogger to WordPress
I used the migration tool and followed the tutorials. But I’m facing 2 issues:

Hi, I apologize if the question has already been asked in the past or if I’m asking a “silly” problem: we purchased the plugin to be able to download a site with hundreds of posts from Blogspot.
OK the posts, categories and comments… but the images remained on blogspot! NOT a single file appears in the “media” library of the new WordPress site, every single image is linked externally. What did we do wrong? Obviously in the import start interface we had selected the image download option…
Hey, i experimented with the free version to evaluate if the tool works for moving our blog from blogger to wordpress. We are using webp images in our blog (-rw in the image url) and noticed that those posts arent moved to wordpress. So additionally they are not used as the featured image. It works for not webp images.
Thanks for your support!
Hi, When I begin le importation of my Blog Blogger with Blogger Importer Extension (with licence full), it stop after 8 posts. I can just import 8 posts by 8 post with a clic on “Continue Import” after refreshing the page… I didn’t find something in the differents topics. An idea ?
Is it possible to import the analytics data as well? Or is that mostly related to the domain and it doesn’t affect the migration?
Hi
I have posts more than 35000. I have started imported them on local but it’s stuck on 32000 while importing and not importing posts above this. While able to import new posts.
I’m testing out this this plugin with the free 20 posts, but have run into a problem with the image import.
The documentation for the free version says it should be importing the first image of a post and making that the feature image too. The problem is it’s importing all the images into the Media Library, but they’re all the thumbnailed low res versions rather than the actual high res images.
If I click the images, it does load the high res from Blogger, but I’m not seeing the first/featured image being imported as high res as the documentation says it should be.
Is this just a bug of the free version and the paid version (which I’m planning to buy if this works) will import the images properly?
Thanks!
Matt.
I plan to transfer from Blogger a blog with about 8,500 posts. I did a test with the free version and everything worked fine with the transfer of 20 posts except the featured images. None of the images were transferred to the media library and none of the 20 posts were updated with the featured image (I must put the featured image manually for each post). The images of posts existed in WordPress but only as a link from Blogger. Is it the same with the unlimited version? Because it is impossible to update manually thousands of posts.
It seems there is an issue with the timezone. The WordPress blog I am importing to has its timezone set to Los Angeles time. But all imported posts timestamps seem to be British times.
For example: Both the Blogger blog and WordPress blog involved in the migration are set to Los Angeles time (UTC-7 during summer time). If a post that was posted at 8:00am Los Angeles time on Blogger get migrated, it ends up in WordPress with a timestamp of 5:00pm (or 17:00), which is the British time (UTC+1 during summer time), interpreted as Los Angeles time
This seems to be related to this bit of code when the importer creates the WordPress post:
$insert_post = array(
'post_type' => 'post',
'post_date' => $item->published,
'post_content' => '',
'post_title' => $item->title,
'post_status' => 'publish',
'ping_status' => 'closed',
'post_name' => $item->slug,
'tags_input' => property_exists($item, 'labels') ? $item->labels : '',
);
The post_date
property requires a timestamp in the timezone of the WordPress blog, but the $item->published
property seems to always be British time, causing the time mistmatch in the blog.
If the $item->published
timestamp retrieved from the api can be guaranteed to be UTC/GMT instead it could be easily solved using the GMT property 'post_date_gmt' => $item->published
. Then WordPress would handle the conversion for the local blog timezone based timestamps.
I don’t know how this could be easily solved for British time though (since that only matches up with UTC/GMT during winter time).
Our Blogger site uses Disqus for comments.
Our Disqus installation uses the post id to determine which comments to load for said page. I was wondering if there is a way to make sure the WordPress post id matches that of the Blogger post (whenever possible), or any way to retrieve the old blogger post id after the import?
That way we can make sure Disqus loads the proper comments.
In Blogger and WordPress jump breaks are inserted using the
tag.
However, when running the blogger importer it seems
tags are changed to
tags (with extra spaces). This causes the jump breaks to not work in the WordPress blog.
I’ve paused the import for now. Is here an solution for this issue so the jump breaks keep functioning as they should?

Hello,
I want to use your importer because the basic import didn’t work when I tried using it. BUT, I don’t want to transfer the pages from Blogger, just the blog posts to WP.org. Is that possible?
Thank you,
Janet
Some of the images that come over are a fixed size and so are too big on mobile. I’ve tried just applying styles to all of the images on my posts. But the images that are too big seem to be wrapped in this div:
<div class=”full-width img-container aspect-ratio-no-aspect” style=”box-sizing: border-box; flex-shrink: 0; height: 493.031px; object-fit: contain; width: 740px;”>

`
I imagine this has something to do with how they were created in blogger. Is there anyway around this? We are looking to import almost a thousand posts, I’m sure there will be others with this issue.
Thank you
Hi,
After moving my blog (with custom domain) to WordPress, do I have to turn off indexing (search engine visibility) on my old blog (Blogger)?
1. I have already moved my blog from Blogger to WordPress.
2. I turned on the “Redirect old links” option.
3. I added the code on “Redirect traffic from Blogger” blogger.
4. But do I have to turn off indexing (search engine visibility) on the old blog (Blogger) yet?
Greetings.

Hi there!
I used your plugin and it works great. I was wondering if the paid version has an option to NOT insert the featured image in the post content? The imported posts are showing the featured image twice (as the featured image and then embedded in the post content below). See screenie:

I would love a fix for this if possible (I have to import about 1000 posts).
Thank you! ??

The plugin works well in importing over from Blogger to my site and is set up on my page. Now my question is how can I add new blog posts, created on WordPress, to appear in the same format and column as the imported posts?

Hello,
I have tried the plugin and it is amazing.
I have used it so far flawlessly on apache servers without errors.
Some of my clients are on a nginx server. Is this a problem for the redirects or they are only writable on an apache .conf file?
Thank you for your time,
Eddie.
For the record, this is what I’ve been met with when trying to import my Blogger blog …
1. Tools > import > Blogger Run Importer > Choose File > Upload file and import
2. It loads at the bottom of my screen by % then once it’s complete all it displays is a button that says “Submit”. No other text.
3. Then all it says is “All done. Have fun! Remember to update the passwords and roles of imported users.” and nothing has changed. I can’t find my blog posts anywhere.

I used the premium version of “Blogger Import Extended” plugin and facing below troubles on migrating a site from the blogger:
1. Links in the blog comments are lost!
2.
 Formattings are lost!
Hi again.
I have noticed that from a range of dates the plugin has not migrate contain well in certain post, not in all of them. At least 30-50 post has no images, no YouTube links (in blogger the post is perfect with all the contain working).
My question before editing them manually (some of the important ones) is: if I delete them and I re-migrate, it’s possible that this time the post migrates as they should? I mean also, deleting them means that re-migrate is going to insert them again (only the ones I have deleted cause I have also noticed that re-migrate doesn’t rewrite posts that exists in WordPress). Do I have to delete them permanently from WP or I can leave them in paper bin?
Just to test if this time could works.One more time many thanks for your help
Hi, and firstly thanks for your useful plugin.
We have just migrated from blogger (we have to migrate somo post more and we′re working on the theme before). The domain is the same that the one we have used (still using) in blogger (just a new hoster with WP), the urls are the same cause I have configure permalinks with the blogger format.
Now I have the wp site url without url (blogger still working and Wp not active yet) and I have noticed that when I open a url in the preview and I add www. its working (it sends me to the exact post in blogger). So well done for us jajaja.
Now the questions:
1 – Being the same domain. Which kind of redirects I have to do?. I haven’t checked any of the both options after the migration (cause I have to migrate new post yet). I mean, Do I really need to check them?
2 – Being the same domains, Do I need redirections to be added in blogger? I’m going to deactivate indexing on blogger.
I understand the reasons to o click second option, the redirections in blogger (although being the same domain I think google is going to send me directly to my “new site”). I have understood that anyway we have to copy the code in blogger or click the option 2, it could be some old post ranked in google that belong to blogspot url and that the reason for this redirection.
3- I don’t understand the first option. What is the pourpouse of clicking it? Send any visit with or witout www. to the main domain?? Please help me with that! jajajaja.
Many thanks.
Hi from Spain.
We want to migrate from Blogger to WordPress but we don′t want to import images so them could be linked to blogger as they are right now (we have a cinema and series blog and we have a lot of them and we have no money enough to pay a huge hosting). I have read about the plugins, but I′m not still sure if it′s able to do this, I mean not to import images.
Is the paid version able to “jump” the images import? New post in WP will show images uploaded in Blogger? Many thanks for your help. And sorry if someone have asked this before or its shown anywhere I haven′t noticed.
