Hello,
I have found that site admins can see the propagation of the hierarchy they are part of. Yet normal users cannot. Any advice on what could cause this?
Thanks

]]>Hello, looking forward to implementing this on my site.
A couple of questions.
– A large hierarchy may struggle with being overloaded as it become closer to the top root. Is it possible to add do not propagate further option into an admin of a group?
– the propagations which show in a group. does it consider if the user is member of the propagated group?
eg:
user y is part of group a, group b, group c
user x is part of group a, group b
a user posts in group c,
result
user y can read the post in group a
user x doesn’t see the post in group a
Many Thanks

]]>Hello,
I am testing your plugin – thanks for making this much needed function. One thing I can’t seem to get figured out though… shouldn’t the Privacy considerations from Group to SubGroup and vice versa apply?
By way of example, if I have Group A (Public) which has a subGroup B (Private), shouldn’t content posted to subGroup B be subject to the Private status of subGroup B and therefore NOT propagated to Group A?
Further, if a NON-member of subGroup B (but who was a member of Group A) posted in Group A, shouldn’t that post content be subject to the non-membership and therefore not posted to subGroup B?
Obviously, if both Group and subGroup were public, free flow of content both ways would be expected.
Am I looking at functionality correctly? Because in my testing, the Privacy status of the Group did not seem to be honored. As always, I might be doing it wrong. ??
Using BPGH 1.43, BPGHP 0.3, BP 2.1.1, WP 4.1
Thanks again.

]]>Hello, just after installed and gived a try something wrong…comments disappeared after posting and magically come back few minutes later… lol real strange i suppose!
Don’t worry, the plugin is fantastic and the cause was WP Super Cache, a WordPress plugin for caching…
At this moment, after other few test i should reccomend, if you are using WP Super Cache, to add the string “/groups/” without apices to the ignore list of WP Total Cache.
I’m forced to use a caching plugin because another plugin “Seo by Yoast” generate bad xml sitemap and google find it only if cached.
Hope the tip should help someone other, sorry for my italianized english and please, if you know a better way to avoid caching with WP Total Cache let me know at [email protected]

]]>I can’t find any instructions for what to modify in my groups page to show the Group Tree. I have set up my hierarchies but can’t see how to have them show up on the front end. I am new to WP and BP so I am sure there is something obvious I just don’t know how to do! Any help would be great!

]]>The switch direction feature is brilliant. I like that the control is site-wide and at least for our community do not foresee a need to have control at the group level. Nonetheless our community would truly benefit from adding an option for both up and down on this switch. That way activity from children would feed up to parent and grandparent groups and activity in highest level groups could feed down to child and grandchild groups. I assume this means that activity originating from mid-level groups would propagate both up to higher levels and down to lower levels. As currently designed, no desire for activity to propagate across to sibling groups.
A 3rd option of both up & down would make this plugin an extremely valuable extension of BP Group Hierarchy. Please consider adding this option in the next iteration of Propagate. ??

]]>Is there a way to make it work with group activity notifier:
https://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-group-activities-notifier/
It notifies the user only for specific group where the post was posted and user is a member… but does not notify the user for propagated posts in higher levels and where the user is a member…
any help?
thanks!

So that anything written in the parent group is published in all child groups ?

]]>Activity propagation is fine, but the real juice (at least as far as I am concerned) is propagation of members. Any plans to include that?
BTW, @ddean wrote a “how to” article on that https://www.generalthreat.com/2011/12/extending-groups-hierarchy-join-upstream/

]]>Just wanted to drop in to say thanks a ton, mate.
It is pretty ridiculous that BP core does not have hierarchical groups. David Dean’s Group Hierarchy tries to step in there. But without propagation, it is more or less useless.
This plugin makes Group Hierarchy and ultimately BuddyPress finally useful.
Good stuff!
